I am all in on this choice for Captain. He should bring a refreshing younger attitude to the Ryder Cup. Not having been a vice or captain is overrated. Some guys can just lead. Look, I know there are some popular players on Tour. Popularity doesn't win. I look forward to picks of some of the younger guys on tour and letting the boys club go unless they play their way on!

Less vice Captains, to many cooks spoil the broth, and actually, less picks. Play your way on. If there isn't going to be less picks, actually pick the guys that are hot during the FedEx Cup playoffs. The Captain can't go all Tom Watson on the players, but the players need to understand there is a Captain for a reason. BTW, if this means building a big lead over the first 2 days, even if someone doesn't play until Sunday singles, so be it. The Europeans started to win using this strategy way back when and it wouldn't hurt us to bruise an ego but still win!

One suggestion I do have is to hire a stats and analytics guy to do the job like Edward Molinari did for the European side in the last Cup. Then I would also hire someone like Tom Doak to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of both teams using that info and then lead the effort to set up Bethpage to our advantage. Heck, make him an assistant coach if that will help. 

Lets get outside the box and win this thang!

Interesting if it ends up close, but if he is in the top 16 or so, could he use himself for a Captain's pick?

Even though there is a snowballs chance in Hades, I want him to pick Phil as a vice captain.

I agree. After watching him not get selected last year due to politics sucked. Hope he does well at Bethpage to cement himself as a Ryder Cup legend

He said he wants to be a playing-captain, but will only do so if he earns it on points. He said in his presser that he won't pick himself unless the other guys on the team absolutely insist on it.

That would be a terrible pick. Phil is so divisive and has proven this at past Ryder Cups...

Maybe that's what  is needed in that team room, a little bit of "divisiveness". Besides you don't think there will be "issues" if Bradley stays true to his word and picks the ones who are playing their best no matter where they play?

I was against it at first with just a knee jerk reaction. Now however I am fully behind it and I am excited to see what Keegan can come up with. 

Personally, I would love to see a LIV vs PGA ryder cup style event. THAT would be fun to watch.

Absolutely love it. He has the fire and passion that will make a great captain. I genuinely think this will be a blowout. But, they need to go into the event with a full force, not holding back a single thing.

I personally don't think the captains should play.  I know they can, but the focus to do both is almost impossible.

I'll double down on this. The sole focus should be getting the win, and I don't think he'd be able to give his full attention to the strategy of the tournament if he were also playing in it. I'd be very surprised to see him name himself to the team.

Yes and yes.  Yes, I think he will be a great RC Captain and am so happy he got the nod.  In his post BMW round interview, he said he was completely caught off guard when he got the call.  That is pretty cool.  He is a big time competitor and I think he will rally the team and the team will rally around him.

And yes on the recommendation to bring in some heady stats guru's to assist.  I suspect they all pretty much do that now, but definitely a plus in today's era of play.

Here's a zinger.  What about making Michael Jordan a co-captain?  They are very good friends and he would be awesome keeping things loose and as a motivator.  If it happens, you heard it here first, and Keegan is a MGS forum voyeur .

Yea, I don't think that'll happen and, much as I am a Phil fan, would not be good for the team.  Greg Norman would be WAY better .
