Shifty
I'm a golf junkie! I love everything about golf. Hello all, newbie here from Birch Hills, Saskatchewan. The land of Golf and Hockey, lol. We have more golf courses here per capita than anywhere else in the world. And its cheap to golf here too. May not be able to golf all year round, but what a beautiful season we do have. So many choices of where to play, and it's light here till around 10pm in the middle of summer, so 18 after work is almost my daily routine during that time. I'm in a process of really trying to get better. A couple years ago I decided that if I'm going to spend an ungodly amount of money yearly on golf, I may as well try to be good, or at least better. I was constantly a 100+ golfer, and like my friends, I was happy if I broke 100. So in 2013, I took some lessons, and mainly worked on my setup, grip, preshot routine, etc. and my game improved alot. My best round was a 91 at a challenging course in my area, so I was pumped, and barely touched the surface of what I could work to improve on. So being a Canadian stuck in the winter, I wasn't happy just playing on the two hockey teams I play on, so I bought the net, fairway pro divot simulator, a 3bays gsa analyzer, and built my stance mat (as per the attached photo), so I could hit balls whenever. I purchased the PGA Tour Home Edition to work on the white track last winter. It also helped me with more fundamentals. Monitored my progress on V1 and Coach's eye software. And for fun, I had my xbox 360 kinect hooked up, and was able to play Tiger 2103 by swinging my real clubs. Its alot of fun, but isn't a simulator by any means. Presently I'm looking at a p3proswing, or optishot 2(not sure if this is a step up from Tiger or not). And lastly I have a 14' putting area in my basement with the same stimp as my home course. So this past summer, I was ready! I golfed around 75 rounds, and improved alot. I shot 82 twice, and wasn't happy at all if I scored over 90. So this winter, I'm going through the Blue track on the PGA Tour Home Edition, and have around 12 books to go through, working on putting, to zen golf. I filmed my last 5 rounds of the summer with my swingshot golf camera, and found that in certain situations, I regress to my OTT swing that I worked so hard to get rid of, but it still rares its ugly head from time to time. Those times all are when I try swing too hard. In the spring I'm taking the aimpoint express course in putting, get back on taking regular lessons, and hopefully beat 80! Glad to be part of mygolfspy, and talk to you guys in the forums! Shifty
Greetings fellow Canadian and welcome. We had some folks from our office visiting a client in Regina this week, they did not enjoy you temperatures. lol, this week was very, very mild. Good thing they never came the week earlier it was around 20 degrees colder. Now you can see why I like hanging out in my livingroom watching tv, and striking balls. Ya the joys of Saskatchewan, lol. BIG STU
Welcome! quite a practice center you have there very impressive. I know a little about your area. Back in my real trucking days I hauled some equipment for the Canadian Transportation Ministry from Lloydminster to a dealer in the States. It was in dead winter. I remember it well because it was the coldest I have ever been! I think it was -40 or something like that. Like I said left a lasting impression on this Southern Boy! Shifty
Thanks for the welcome guys! FYI, alot of the stuff I purchased for indoor training I purchased due to the reviews here. Even though I wasn't a member yet, I valued the reviews here as they really seem, ambitious and un-biased.
