So the cat will eventually be out of the bag but I started working with Edison not too long ago. I'm in charge of most of the reviews you see out there including PluggedInGolf and our most recent one at TXG. Getting to work with those guys has been great and it's awesome to see them validate the claims. I don't like to come on here and be a cheerleader because I love MGS and just want to be a regular member like everyone else so I've kept my Edison chatter to a minimum and just offer help when needed.

Congrats! I wanted mine to work, but the 49 and 55 I got has too much bounce for my swing/game. Wound up skulling just about anything on course. I don't want to call it a waste of money, I cant in good conscious do that. They are a HIGH quality wedge, they just don't work for me unfortunately. For now, they are gathering dust in the club collection until a need from another arises.

  2. The shaft will play more into your performance than the head choice regardless of which head you go with. Last year when I landed a G425 LST I put it against a new TSi2 and built a pair of Atmos TS Black shafts so my head-to-head testing would be on a level playing field. To my surprise, the TSi2 outperformed the G425 in a Trackman. I got curious and built a pair of Motore X F1 shafts (my 2020 gamer in a Mavrik) and the results were the opposite with the G425 coming out on top in all categories. Shaft choice is of equal, if not greater importance IMO, but as with all things....YMMV.

I have looked into it a few times but for some reason I never seem to commit. I really need to look at it again. Where are you located?

Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy

I did the same for a couple of years before pulling the trigger. Glad I did. I'm in NYC, but I'm in a great spot where I can play the New Jersey, and/or the Metro New York Tour. It's whatever my schedule allows me to play.

  4. How many Spies are playing in this Tour? I just played my first ever event (my first time ever competing in golf, really) this past weekend. Had an absolute blast even though the weather was in the "worst possible" category. 45 degrees, 25 knot gusts, driving rain the entire 18. By the 16th I realized I had never in my short playing life wanted to get off of a golf course that badly. Did not care where I finished, or what my score was. Still, my playing partners were just awesome to play golf with, and even though we were all equally miserable they never once lost their positivity. Cant say enough good things about those guys, and I hope we get grouped together again in the future.

Most people have said that laying some heavy books on it for a bit got it to lay flat, I've also heard of ironing it which I plan to do to mine when I finally get around to it.  I'll start with low heat and some steam.

I'd also recommend shooting an email to customer service, they may have some additional tricks.

Using an iron on low with the steam setting on is exactly what customer service said to do. They also said using a hair dryer is an option, but not their first choice.

Did you try to reverse roll it for a day or so. Just roll it opposite to the way it came packed. Usually takes care of the problem.

Hi Tom, yes I did. I laid it out with in reverse for a solid week with no results. It still retained it's memory when I flipped it over to check. I laid it out in reverse again for another week this time with the ball boxes for some extra persuasion, no joy there either. Since then it's been laid out with the golf ball boxes straight up for two weeks. I checked it this morning before I left for the office and it's still curling up in all the wrong places.

Delivery day is the best!  What hasn't been the best, is following shipments through COVID (getting better) and the delays that have been happening over the last year.

BTW - how many balls do you plan on hitting in the water this year 🙃  Just kidding.

Hope you find some equipment you love.  Would be curious to hear on course performance of each.

Yeah, the delivery companies are finally back on the road and SOME are catching up. Zero hope for USPS progress on a few of my orders still on their way to customers, but thats what I get for using them.

Those balls should last me through July, but DO NOT challenge me....I can lose them MUCH faster.....

These clubs are all on their way to local juniors in need (they don't know it yet) as my annual donation to the local programs, but shipment #3 has my personal demo's in it. Have to wait till then for any on course feedback.

Having recently come from a Warbird 3w with stock Graphalloy shaft to my current G400 SFT with Alta CB shaft, it's been a very positive shift in hit-ability and accuracy. My only complaint with the current club is distance which is producing 185-195 carry and generally not any roll. I've had a good many holes that need that carry to be 10-20 yards longer to avoid front ball catching aprons or clear water.  The added distance from the new KBD TD driver shaft will help this a little, but I still feel like I'm not getting enough out of my mini-boom stick...but maybe I am?? 🤔

Unfortunately at my recent TS fitting, we could not test my G400 with the Diamana Thump 65R shaft that produced best results with the TSi2 3w (15*).  That was yielding about 10 yards additional carry. Yea, I know, "go buy the TSi and that shaft and call it a day", but I'm not ready to jump there yet.  First, I'm not so sure my G400 with an upgraded shaft won't get me there, second, that's a hefty price, and finally, there are so many other 3w make/models to consider.

I've not messed with the G400's loft setting, and only played it at nominal 16*.  It can be adjusted to 15*.  I see that a number of mfg.'s are offering much lower lofted 3w's (13*) and larger volume heads. While I do use my 3w off the tee, my primary use is fairway.  The G400 was available in the "Stretch" version and a nominal 13* that can be changed to 14*.

But is reducing loft the best direction?  Many argue (like drivers) that based on swing speed and AoA, more distance can be gained by playing a higher loft and getting more ball height.  My fitting data had my current 3w ball height at 77 ft. and the TSi/Thump at 79 ft.

Anyone been in the same boat; looking for some additional 3 wood distance?  What did you test and what did you end up with?

What you need to do is find a buddy who can ship you a few different 2021 3w models to test out on the course and truly see what each can/can't do for you. No clue where you'd find one of those guys, though......

  9. Increase my FIR% to 60+ while maintaining my average distance

Increase my GIR% to at lease 65%

Decrease my putts per round average by at least 5/round

Qualify in my flight for the national championship being played at Baltusrol for the amateur tour I play in.

Win my State and Region in the same tour.

    Win my League.

  10. So far Callaway and Taylormade are getting my orders to me in an acceptable amount of time (2-3 weeks) despite the delays.

Ping is being Ping, at the moment. So far my Pre-Order customers have been delayed the longest, and I have random orders just showing up. There's no real rhyme, or reason. Zero organization to how they're shipping what out, or when.

The recent winter storms put a huge delay on already delayed orders for shipping reasons, and it seems like everyone is starting to get back on track.

  11. Yep, just finally looked at the MGS Most Wanted list. I'm not as surprised at the Cally winning top spot as I am that the Ping offerings finished so low. Since I'm a Callaway guy, this does fit well into my devious plans for domination this season, but the G425 Max will still find it's way into the bag randomly. I stick with my original comment on page #2, G425 performed the best for me with the shaft I built for it. The rest can fight it out....I vote they fight with knives.

  12. If this gives anyone insight- I have a total of 67 individual G425 series clubs (not including irons, putters, or wedges) that all had a confirmed shipping date of 2/8. As of this morning I've received a total of 8 of those orders. 27 have shipped and are currently delayed due to weather (all of them are on the same truck stuck in Texas since 2/11). The other 32 have not left the "In Production" status. A set of G710 irons I ordered back in early November had a delivery date of 1/5 at the time of order now has a delivery date of 3/3. Ping is basically a blind guy in a whorehouse right now and the weather isn't doing them any favors.

I agree about the forgings. I received an email from Miura this morning and was a little turned off. Makes me wonder if I need to call my guy and secure a set of back up irons before they go the way of the dinosaur. I was also a little surprised at the price going to $330/club MSRP.

Yeah, I think the pricing will take them right out of consideration for roughly 95% of the GI market, but they do tout them as being an iron for all skill levels. Then again, I'd pull a @BNewton51 and find a guy who knows a guy before paying retail......

Not that these are hollow, I should point out.  I realized after I posted that it might seem as though I was inferring that these are hollow.  But same thought process here.  Definitely an expansion of their market appeal.

I completely agree. It does seem like the industry is trending towards the hollow/multi piece "forged" iron. When Srixon announced their ZX line my inner child immediately thought "I wonder if Miura plans to release a version". Lo and behold, here we are. As an engineer it's interesting to see what each OEM has done with their versions in design and construction and try to breakdown how each one's offering works in their claims for improvement, and the same goes for the Miura if I get the chance. Maybe it's just the skeptic in me, but when I test a new club I'm always paying attention to how it performs against it's claims. I like to think of myself as a Jr. Mythbuster with way too much curiosity and not enough time.

While I don't think this model will push Miura any closer to your local golf stores shelves anytime soon, I do think this is just the tip of the iceberg for them and other JDM manufacturers to jump into what's basically a wide open category. Personally, I think a new category for the OEM's to have a death match in is refreshing. All we have to wait for now is Ping to release the i59/i565 irons and the fighting can begin!
