  1. How many of you have gamed/are gaming your rare, exclusive, and/or otherwise super valuable putters regardless of brand? This isn't a question for the "I game what works", or the ever popular "go get fit" type answers. I'm genuinely curious about peoples opinions. Hopefully this turns out to be a good conversation.

  2. Fitters differ everywhere you go. I've been to 3 different fitters in my very brief playing career. Once for long game (Club Champion), once for irons and wedges in two separate sessions (local private fitter), and once for a putter (GolfTec). The 5th time was for a gap analysis that turned into a second long game fitting at my request where we found that what I was fitted for couldn't have been a worse fit for me. The best experience and results came from the local fitter. They were brand agnostic, took an extreme amount of time with me, and scrutinized their own work to the enth degree. I still go there at least once a year for a gap analysis. They earned my trust, and with as much time and money we all spend on this game, trust means something.

  3.

Big boy shaft right here with a nice little discount. It's had one range session and one round on it. It's been sitting in my shafts bag gathering dust since. Launches too low for me.

It will come with a minty GP MCC Align +4 midsize grip, and has a Cally tip installed. Shaft was built by Tour Quality Golf in OK.

  4. We all know that the stock "Ventus" shaft offered by Taylormade is not a Velocore, and as such doesn't perform like a Velocore. My question that I've been meaning to ask for months is about the Rogue White. Are there 2 different versions like the Ventus? A cheaper version for a stock offering, and a higher performance aftermarket version, or is there one shaft to rule them all? TIA

    @Briton great topic.

I am fairly new to golf and, cost is my biggest hurdle to golf. It is fun just reading the responses. One can dream.

Keep searching, bud. There are deals out there on top shelf JDM equipment. They may not be brand new, but you can find what you're after and make it work for your budget.

Here's a small sample of whats jammed into my ever shrinking garage at the moment. Totally forgot I had the G410 iron set.

I recently moved beyond gripping my own clubs and branched out to other projects. Torch coloring, paint fill, surface refinishing, etc. Since I have a large machine shop and a larger supply of good scrap materials I've been building a lot of the tools I'd have to buy otherwise.

The next big thing on my list was reshafting, and all of the nuances about the process. Enter my spine finder and FLO jig project. I've seen quite a few DIY designs, and some examples from the big name companies. Couldn't decide which one I wanted to build so I'm going to build them both.

I started the tube design by deciding on a bearing size to build around and settled on a 40mm O.D. size from amazon ($6.96/4-pack) and found some steel tube (zero chance I was going to use PVC) with an inside diameter of 36mm. I then started the lathe and went to work boring the tube out to size and installed the bearings with a hydraulic press. I then cut a length of 2"Lx5/16"W flat stock and MIG welded it to the tube for a vise mount. Quick cleaning of the weld, and a few Rustoleum passes, and Voila! $15 spine finder.

Up next- FLO laser jig, loft/lie measurement tool, positive pressure shaft puller, and a bench mounted spine finder. 20200818_192743.jpeg20200819_152616.jpeg

    Bridgestone Tour B XS

Late to this party, but eff it. I'm new here. If there's already a B XS review, then apologies in advance. Just wanted to throw my .02 in for my experience.

    The player:
    Current gamer - Pro V1X
Handicap or Ave score - 14.6
7 iron carry distance with current ball - 165
    Trajectory - High
Putter - Evnroll ER5B, firm feel

    The ball:
    2020 Bridgestone Tour BXS

    Distance - WAY better
    Trajectory - Mid-High
Spin - 1 hop and stop on short iron approach, short roll out with mid/long irons
    Feel - firm
    Durability  - Scuffed, but playable
    Rating - Gamer!!!

    Notes or writeup:
Figured I'd see what they hype was about and bought a dozen and played 4 rounds- 1 ball out of each sleeve per round. First- all of my distance, FIR, and GIR data came from my Arccos sensors.

Long Game- My drives averaged 27 yards further than my normal with the Pro V1X. I attribute that to my FIR averaging  64% (career best) over the 4 rounds I used the B XS. Mind blowing how your distance is better when landing the fairway instead of the rough...mental note taken.

Irons and Approach- My GIR was more impressive at 78% over 4 rounds (career best), and my playing partners and I could see many of my shots 1 hop & stop on the greens. Even had one 9i spin back about 4 feet according to one of my partners. The feel off of the face to me was a firm, but pleasantly so.

Short Game/Chipping- I felt very confident with my short game with the B XS on good swings. I had many chips and pitches check up solid, if I had distance control I probably would've had a career day.

Putting- Even though my putter has a firm feel to it, it felt muted with this ball. Not in the mushy, not enough power kind of way. I was very impressed with my sudden distance control (an area I struggle with) on the 4 different courses I putted.

Since my little test run I've had 10 dozen more "fall into my lap", more importantly, this ball has found a very secure spot in my bag. Very impressed with it.

  10. My CB-301 set was my second set after finally committing to the game. Telling anyone how they feel/perform is subjective, so I'll use data and a timeline for my opinion. Take it for what it's worth, but an important note- I didn't take any lessons in 2019 at all preferring to use my limited time on course when I could play.

December 2017- Started my golf journey with a set of used Taylormade M1 irons 4-PW

February 2018- Fitted for my first set- Callaway Rogue 4-PW

December 2018- End of my first full season. Handicap 19.4

February 2019- Tried a buddies Miura CB-1008 set at our local Simulator club. By the end of the month I had been fitted for, and ordered a set of CB-301's.

December 2019- End of second full season. Beginning handicap- 19.4. End of year handicap- 13.3.

Did I progress naturally based on ability, were the Miura's the reason for my improvement, combo of both? All of this is debatable, but one answer I have complete confidence in- the Miura's certainly didn't hurt my game. Here's my subjective side- I have tried and gamed almost every players distance iron offering during this 2020 season (I'm a complete club garden tool) and so far nothing I've tested has come remotely close to the feel and consistency I get from my CB-301's.
