Hit some 7 irons and Drivers today. I rally like the size of the impact net: it dampens the impact nicely and protects the netting, which I wore out fairly quickly. I’m still getting used to standing so close to the net, but so far the only negative I’ve noticed is shanked shots that miss the impact screen come back, extremely hot.

You wore the netting out already??!!

  2. Since I am technically challenged I won't try to do a video. First of all I want to say thank you to GolfSpy and Spornia. This is one well thought out net. The quality is top notch everywhere you look. Having the advantage of watching sirchunksalot video it took me all of about 4 minutes to put the net up. Every ball I hit comes right back to the front of the net. The netting is first class. I would have no issues at all spending the $239 if I was buying a net. Even Jag, our garage and outside mouser totally approves.

not quite, for a few reasons.

first, i’d never offer completely unsolicited advice to a stranger. especially when that advice comes in the form of “you’re not very good” and doubly especially when the guy giving the advice just carded a 105.

second, my level of enjoyment is my own concern and it’s not for anyone else to dictate. who is he (or anyone else) to say that i wasn’t enjoying myself just fine

third, i’ve been working on my game off the tee all season. this particular course is only about 6700 from the tips. from the forward tees i wouldn’t be pulling driver on most holes. that would defeat the purpose of being out there working.

    no offense taken

Cool! Your reasoning makes complete sense to me.

@Golfspy_CG2 i was playing a round back in september at a public course that used to be a private club.

i got paired up with a nice old dude (mid to late 70s?) who was a member at the club when it was private.

we enjoyed a nice enough round, him playing from the senior tees and me from the tips.

i fought my driver all day, and scrambled my way to a normal mid-90s round. he chipped his way around the course and probably came in 8 strokes behind me.

we walk off the 18th green (par 5, i got home in 2, missed an eagle putt and birdied) and he goes “nice playing with you today. can i give you some advice? don’t play from the tips. you’re not good enough for that. you’ll enjoy the course a lot more from the white tees”

some people really can’t help themselves

I hope I don't offend you but as a 22 isn't there some truth to what he said? The reason I ask is because my level of enjoyment of the game grew leaps and bounds once I gave in and moved up a set of tees. I should have done it a couple of years sooner but I just couldn't let myself do it. Again. hope you don't take offence.

Club head speed is everything. If you hit a Cally Supersoft with a 100 mph swing speed, of course you will lose distance. For those of us that swing a lot slower, all those lower compression balls work just fine to "somewhat level" the playing field. I have played 90 comp down to the 29 compression of the Duo. Duo got marshmallowy in the hot summer sun. The Cally Supersoft that I now play, with an 80 mph swing speed does not do that. And, I am always out in front of my playing partners with the driver most if the time, and we are all high handicappers. Its all subject to the FEEL YOU WANT, and not always how far you can hit the ball.

This^ Low compression balls like the 29 compression Duo don't lose distance until high swing speeds come into play.

Thanks everyone! I recently purchased 2 hybrids & the 699 pro black irons. I haven’t gotten a chance to play with them yet, but just based on looks & the few balls I’ve hit in the back yard, solid clubs & highly recommend @Sub72Golf @Sub70!

I see you're from North Carolina. What's the hold up on playing those bad boys!!!??? 😁 Courses are closed up here in Illinois, I need to move.

  7. Spornia SPG-7 Official Forum Member Review

Once again, a BIG shout out to Golfspy and Spornia!  A little about myself,  I'm 68 years old and my handicap usually varies between a 8 -10. I've been playing for 33 years and try to get out 2-3 times a week during our April - November season. I've only owned one hitting net and that was a old Callaway net I bought at a garage sale for 9 bucks. It was such a pain to put up and take down I finally ended up giving it to goodwill when I couldn't sell it at our own garage sale. I had never considered getting another one until I read about the Spornia and entered the contest.

    First Impression

It was much more compact than I thought it would be. Packaged nicely with good instructions but I have to admit this net was so easy to put up I didn't read them until after I had the net up. (Isn't that what we real men do?)😁

    Quality

From the moment I pulled this net out of the box I knew it was a quality product. Netting was very heavy. You just knew you had a quality product.

    Ease of use

I'm not sure how anyone could make a hitting net any easier than this to put up unless it just sprang to the open position when you pulled it out of the cover. I'm guessing it took about 3-4 minutes to put up or take down.

    Hitting Balls

This net will take anything you want to give it. I left it set up from day one and hit balls nearly everyday to some extent. The way the ball comes back to the front of the net is a fantastic design. The only negative I can say about the net is every once in a while if you hit a low ball it will get stuck behind the outside net. Not a big deal to retrieve it though by just reaching around the back of the net and flip the ball back.

    Final Thoughts

If I would have had to pay full retail for this net it still would have been one of the best purchases I've made. I look forward to this net making my winters much shorter and enjoyable for a long time. If there's a better hitting net than the Spornia at any price I'd like to see it. Courses have just opened and I can already see the improvement in my ball striking after just one round.

P.S. Sorry for the short review but Sirchunks review was so good I didn't want to be redundant .

They weren't bad. Jason is a really great guy and will take the time to work with you, talk with you, and get you a tailored set of irons. Having said that, I felt like something was missing. For lack of better words, they felt like a simple version of the rest of the irons I've played. After playing the D7, 921, and Apex they simply felt "less" but that could also be the fact that the others are "forged".

Thanks. I only live a hour from their place so I'm quite interested in their stuff.

While they lean towards the GI/ Player's Distance category these were my findings in order of preference: Wilson D7 Forged; Mizuno 921 Forged; Apex 2019; Mavrik Pro; Titleist T200; Taylormade p790; Titleist T100; Mavrik; Sub 70 699;Taylormade T7MC

I fully acknowledge that I'm not consistent enough to be playing proper player's irons but ended up with the D7 Forged which gave me a little bit of everything. Having said that, I would have been happy with any of the purchases through the T200s.

What did you think of the Sub70 699's?

The wedges are TBD but you do know that Costco "White Labels" a lot of products. Supposedly the Kirkland Vodka is actually Grey Goose. Their Spiced rum comes from either Cruzan or Captain Morgan. Shrug, time will tell.

They're probably fine. I just like to support real golf business's .

No new irons coming out until next summer when the update to the MP line is due.  This I will bet a lot of 💰 on!

So the I59 talk is just that. Talk. Bummer!
