[Making The Switch To Graphite]

Made the switch this year, looking for some lost distance. Went from Wilson D7's with KBS Tour 80 lightweight steel R flex to Ping I530's with the Ping Alta CB Black graphite in SR flex. They are definitely working out so far. A little more distance on the launch monitor along with a better angle of descent.

[What Is Your Next Planned Golf Equipment Purchase?]

Over the winter I bought a Alphard motorized wheel set and their cart with the brackets attached - a Black Friday special. My swing speed has moved into the senior category so looking to replace my Wilson D7 irons with something with more friendly shafts. Fitting scheduled for next week...will then work the top and the bottom of the bag to complement the irons. 

[What putters does everyone use?]

My current gamer is an Odyssey Eleven with a single alignment stripe. Love the line as that and the face keeps my hits square (usually). Backup is a Ping  center shafted Sigma 2 Kushin C. As a straight back straight through kinda guy these face balanced putters fit my needs.

[How Much for a Bucket?]

The local municipal course by me costs as follows:

Grass tees all season & mats in the off season. Balls are decent - usually Wilson range balls. There are a few other range only places and prices vary. And of course there is Top Golf! Some of the comments here are sad!

[GOING TO THE MASTERS IN APRIL!!]

I got Tickets for the Wednesday practice session for 2023. Trying to figure out where to stay without paying an arm and a leg! I will be taking the week off and driving from Chicago but not yet sure if I will be heading up from Florida or not. So where to stay? Aiken? Columbia? Macon?

[Most forgiving most under-rated irons...?]

I will second those who suggest Wilson clubs. I have D7 irons and they are very forgiving. I bought them new from PGATSS and they were half the price of Titleist T400's. PGATSS fitted me as well and got 1degree upright and 1/2" over.

After reading some of the replies above I think I want to change to the Forged Tec in Graphite. I would like a smaller head and I've heard that these are still forgiving. Back when I had a set of Hogan Edge PRO irons (RIP) and loved them.

I may have to try one of these bad boys. I hit them at a demo indoors on a trackman and got good numbers and it felt good. For me I think the regular (not XL Lite) with the loft up one notch worked. 10.5

I game the Wilson D7's 5-GW and have good luck with them. They seem to be between game improvement and SGI.

[Maxfli Tour]

I am a MAxfli Tour believer also and now have 5 dozen white and a dozen yellow for the fall/spring. Previous selection was ProV1x based MGS testing for slower swing speeds. They sure work for me! Also like the Bridgestone RX but you hit 1 cart path and...its a shag bag bullet.

[Best Car to Carry Your Clubs?]

2018 Honda Accord. Fits 2 sets of clubs sideways and all the luggage 2 people need. The seats also go down if you must or if you pack a LOT.

For buddy trips I agree that a minivan is great. Had a 2004 Honda Oddyssey that work great on a week-long Myrtle Beach trip for 3. 

[Where do you play (public vs private)?]

I play public golf in the Chicago area. We have a wide range of golf courses at different price points. You can find something for all price points, conditioning levels, etc. As to round times, it is often luck. I often play the Village Links of Glen Ellyn. Nice staff and regular players, but round times range from 3:20 to almost 5 hours. Luck of the draw. Sometimes outsiders who play like they want their money's worth, sometimes regulars who think they own the course, and sometimes a great pace of play. 

I also have a group of about 15 guys and we play various courses in the area. My group plays in 4 hours for the 1st group (unless there are "Slowskies" in front, but some of the guys are closer to 5 hour types for the usual reasons. I run the group so I am out 1st.

Sounds like some of the private course are not the panacea that I thought.

[The Lob Wedge]

I carry 54 and 58. Regarding the 58, I have both a high bounce Vokey K grind and a Callaway Mack Daddy low (9 degree) bounce. The mack daddy is in the most of the time because of the sand conditions where I play. Which wedge is used from 30-60 yards depends on conditions, pin position, etc. I do tend to go to the lower loft option when conditions allow.
