So excited to see @haywoodgolfjoin the MGS testing ranks!

Also love that this is open to everyone worldwide - should be an awesome test to follow and see the variety of members that get to test these awesome clubs!!!

Good luck to all that enter!

Wait!!  I thought we NEVER did international tastings, at least that's what a lot of people seem to say 🙂

    Good luck everyone!

From what I’ve been reading about the Titleist fitting process, there is an emphasis placed on keeping 5 mph ball speed separation between clubs e.g. PW 100mph, 9i 105mph, etc.

That got me curious about my current gamers, so I hit some balls into the net and used the MLM to keep track of the results. Turns out maintaining a 5mph increase over the club just below it also maintains a good yardage gap.
All of this is a long winded way of saying I am curious which blend of irons would allow for the easiest maintenance of the 5 mph separation. 🤔 Perhaps T150 PW-8i, T200 7i-5i, T350 4i 🤔

Yep. A 5 mph ball speed difference should yield between 10 to 15 yards difference.  So pretty much an ideal gap.
As to the best split sets. I don’t have the chart with lofts for each model in front of me, however I have studied it up and down.  And they really did a good job with these lofts.  There is almost any split you csn make between one model and the next in line thst won’t be a good gap.  Some case of may be a 4 or 5 degree gap which is fine.  I think there may have been one case of a 5.5 or 6 degree. Maybe going from a 350 6 iron to 200 7 ?   But it could be addressed with bending either one 1 degree.   Or if a player is playing a 350, he might not really notice that 1 degree difference.  And I’m a 350 player so I’m not knocking anyone.

The last Titleist test in 2021 got 15,449. I gotta think that would be the current record holder. This year the LAB putters got over 12000, so this Titleist test is on its way to joining some lofty company.

You are correct on the 2023 test being the most. We had a different snd slightly process for signing up then, so it may not quite get to that one.  But it’s not done yet.

Whoever wins, enjoy these beauties. Wish I knew Titleist was coming out with a new T series before I ordered a set 2 months ago. Looking forward to being an actual member now and not just a lurker (although I've been a MGS Twitter follower for years if that counts for anything).

Wow, what a great opportunity. Been a lurker for a while but couldn't resist throwing my hat in the ring. I'm sure I'll start contributing as well.

    Good luck everyone!

Glad to have you both on the Forum.  Hope to see you stay active as there are more testings to come this year.

If you haven’t already read the post below from @golfspy_aph on how to become a tester.   Just to clarify a comment above.  Testings aren’t “won” they are earned by forum participation.

I was updated that the selected testers will also receive a "fitting"! I didn't think it could get any better!

Just reiterating my original comment and @GolfSpy_APH reminder. A fitting is NOT included but there is a very strong expectation that the selected members will arrange their own firing through an Authorized Tiltiest fitter. We may help point the tester in the right direction, but it will be their sole responsibility.

Roger Hatcher ... at 1757 twice & Raspberry Falls once.  Was never offered any upcharge shafts.  Nothing against stock .... but I'd just like to know I've been given all the options.  Guess I'll have to come to Compass Point for the next one 😉

Those aren’t Titleist fitters They are course fitters who most likely didn’t spring for a full fitting sets up.

Let’s take it to PM for more convo if you want.   But he’s Sep 13 Titleist will be at Compass and have any shaft you want likely.

  6. 10 minutes ago, golfinnut said:

That's what I mean.  I would expect a quality fitting as well, which means offering all the possible options.  Hear me out .... when you go thru the selection tool on the website.  The shaft selections either have a price or they don't ...  the one's with no price are the "stock" options & the rest are upcharge shafts, which are normally not offered at a fitting in my experience.

One of the last set of irons I was "fit" into were the original T200's .... was fit into the AMT Red, which turned out to be horrible.  The next set is the set I'm in now is the T200/T100s, was fit into the Nippon 90s.  After hitting only 3 shafts.  No upcharge shafts were even offered.  There is never enough of a selection in the fitting cart.

It's been the same in the last driver fittings as well.

Not to derail the thread but ... I hope the next fittings are done differently that's all

I don't know where you got fit.  But I can almost say with 100% those weren't Titleist Fittings,  and I don't mean for Titleist at some shop or course, but a specific Titleist fitting by their fitters, because they absolutely do have all the up charge shafts as well.

  7. 53 minutes ago, golfinnut said:

Problem I've seen is that most fitters always seem to fit you into the "stock" shafts that they offer.  Maybe it's just me, but every fitting I've been to the fitter has always said one of the stock offered shafts was my best fit ...Never really anything from other upcharge shafts.  There is rarely a wide selection of shafts to choose from at a fitting, unless you go to like a Club Champion or somewhere like that.  There are so many shafts out there, that I find it hard to believe that those 3 - 5 shafts that are offered as "stock" are always the best fit.  Hence why I've always found other shafts a better fit for me After I received all of my clubs.  Glad I know how to build clubs on my own 😁

There are tons of Titleist Fittings being done this fall...icnluding one at Compass Pointe.  Having seen several of these and gone through one myself, I can promise you they have featured, premium an upcharge shafts from all OEM's available.  The Titleist fitters are there to fit you not sell you.  So if they are showing you the shaft that had the best numbers that's their goal.  And I can tell you the people need to get over the thought that the need a $$$ upcharge shaft, or that they are too good for a stock shaft, in general that's a bunch of BS.   Most stock shafts out there now are very good and will fit 95% of the golfers, why do you think they offer them as stock.     Anyway, not to derail the application thread, but if someone is going to receive a $1600 set of irons, then it's in everyone's best interest that they invest in a quality fitting from Titleist.

  8. Reading all the dream sets if fun to see what everyone is thinking and putting together.

But keep in mind, the set make up you will get to submit to Titleist will be 7 clubs.  What exactly those 7 clubs are will hopefully be decided by a fitting. A fitting is NOT part of this testing, but the hopes/expectations are that the testes will be willing to go to a Titleist fitter and get fit for the makeup that fits them best.   More of this conversation of course will be had once the testers are selected.

There is no need to go back and change any makeups you have posted those are all just a conversation starting point and to give you an idea of what you might look into.

Disappointed as a Titleist player that this is again limited to US members 😒

It's been explained many times on the site, why some testings are US only.  It is a due to restrictions and difficulty for the OEM to arrange international delivery and shipping of product from the US.  There are a lot of cots and labor time that goes into this, it's a lot to expect form them when they are already providing an upwards of $1600 set of irons.

This would be fabulous!!  Love to test these vs my current irons.

Depending on if we can get additions like the T200 utility in the place of the #2 & #3 iron.  This would be my DREAM set!!

Also depending on if we can get other upcharge shafts in the builds

Once chosen the testers will have an opporutnity to discuss their exact build and specs recommended from their fitter with our staff and will be advised on what options are on the table.

MGS really hitting the big time now! The industry finally realizing the value this community brings

Actually the industry has realized this for many years now.   I would say with a forum membership close to 80,000 and a following on SM  of close to half a million people, MGS has been Big Time since shortly after it's inception and has a very big presence in the golf industry.

The modern Titleist irons have been associated with better players.  I always associated myself as being a better player, however age is becoming an unavoidable factor that I must constantly consider.

Several companies have designed clubs to help players in my category and I'm hoping the T200 will be so for me.

I would like to see mid-long irons (7-5) that are semi-forgiving and can be easily elevated and short irons (8-P) having a precision/scoring look/performance.

A guy can dream, can't he?

The perception that Titleist clubs are for good players only, is a perception that hasn't really been true since the inception of the AP1 about 8 years ago.   Each year Titleist  are more and more considered by the average player as well as the single digit player.   If you havne't already tried the T350 or T200 you definitely should, the T350 is exactly what you are looking for and they can be blended with the T200 in the lower end of the bag very nicely.

I could have missed it but will Arccos need to be utilized to log everything like in years past?

Arccos is not part of it this year as Cobra has ended it's official relationship with them.

Still very surprised by the low sign-ups (especially in comparison of the Paradym and Edel tests) - I'm guessing the required playing commitments might shy away some people. 🤷‍♂️

Counting down the days until the announcement...

usually they post about it so new members sign up for the forum but maybe this one they are keeping it a bit more hush hush to thin the heard for this opportunity?

    just a theory

The time commitment aspect is spot on the number 1 reason.  Anyone who has been a member here for any of the first 4 Cobra Connects could easily see and tell the amount of time the particiapnts spent on the challenges and the reviews.  CC5 was pretty much cut to a mini review due to the supply chain havoc that all companies experienced.

Also as for social on the main page, we're not sure yet if it'll get shared, but if it does, you can expect the usual influx of applications with one post, whch will be followed a week later with their 2nd post complaining they didnt get picked 🙂

I play Cobra RadSpeed One Length irons. I originally bought them for the express purpose of taking a bit of stress off my back bend, but have fallen in love with the consistency of the ball position. I read criticism that Cobra is not known for the feel of their irons, but I’ve gotta say I love the ball coming off the center of the face. While I would welcome an opportunity to test a one length set, I would love testing a standard Aerojet set as well.

My OL RadSpeed set is 4H, 3-GW. I also play a 10* Titleist TSi3 driver, 13.5* 3W, and 15* H, use a Callaway 56* PM grind wedge, and a Taylormade Spider X Navy. I would readily put them all in the back of the garage in order to use a full set of Cobra’s. Thx for the opportunity.

I had the RadSpeed OL as well, it was some of the best golf I've played.  So of course I traded them in  🙂

Is there someone who can link the previous one so we have an idea of what kind of time commitment this would require?

I’m interested but if it’s a you must play this day kinda thing that’d be hard or if there’s some leeway with doing the challenges.

Single dude and no kids so I can make time for the most part.  Just curious what the “must do’s” would be.

I'll look for a link if no one else post it but if you search   Cobra Connect 2 or 3 or 4 you shoudl find it  or CC2, etc.

In general at least 1 time a week at minimum to play some weeks a 2nd round might be needed.
