I guess age mostly, will be 73 in less than 2 months. Physically things wearing out, knees, hips both going to need work. Both shoulders have been worked on.
According to SWMBO I haven’t learned that I can’t push things the way I used to.
SWMBO has/is beginning to have challenges also including anxiety issues. She realizes it and is working on it.

Gotcha. Lots of body weight exercises will help or even some light resistance bands.

For weight management in simple terms it’s about every consumer vs energy spent or aka calories in vs calories out.

theres some good free macro calculators out there to help determine how much protein, fat and carbs needs to maintain, lose or gain weight.

As you mentioned, it depends on the "color" of the Penalty Area.  In my experience,  water behind a green is usually marked as a RED Penalty Area.  It might be possible to go on the other side of the water to find the "back on the line" relief, but not always.  Similarly, depending on the shape of the Penalty Area, there may be an area that satisfies the "lateral" relief requirements, but sometimes there's isn't any available lateral relief.  On some (but not all) courses, there may be a drop area available.  In some cases cases, the ONLY option is to take "stroke and distance" relief, and replay the shot.  The thing to remember is that there is no guarantee that each of the relief options is available, sometimes one or more of the choices is unavailable.  The one relief option that you ALWAYS have is stroke and distance relief.

I play a course that has yellow stake behind the green and it’s a wooded area. Other side of the hazard has no shot to the green so stroke and distance is the best option on that one

Using the ground is pretty common it seems, Gankas (to me) seems to want to do a major squat with big time leg separation while Clements wants golfers to slightly squat while rotating and using gravity to get the clubhead moving.

No matter what, different styles work for different folks. Whatever gets you to shoot better golf is A-OK with me.

GG uses the ground with the trail foot rotating externally while “squatting” and rotating. Then a big push thru contact

Thanks. Apologies if my comment came off as aggressive.  The challenge from the videos I have viewed so far is that he offers so many options (you can do this, or that, or this) that I'm left scratching my head as to what to do. That's why I am curious if his paid stuff has a bit more instruction to it.  Shawn Clements teaches a similar concept, but I struggle with the leg action there too.

He doesn’t teach a specific swing especially the backswing. His method is about rotation and getting open and somewhat passive hands.

from what I’ve read his new site is well designed and informative. One year subscription is the cost of a single lesson with him.

I’m just trying to maintain 200 and strengthen my shoulder. Both are harder than I thought it would be.
SWMBO and I doing gym time 4-5 times a week and as Super Seniors we know it’s necessary.

What struggles are you having with both? Feel free to pm if you don’t want to post here

I'd have a hard time suggesting a better resource than Fat Loss Forever. And Dr. Norton is definitley not for everyone, but fortunately FLF doesn't get too crazy. As @RickyBobby_PR knows, I had previously dabbled in the yo yo dieting cycle until I saw the proverbial light around December 2016. It's a shame, and not surprising at all, that there are so many people slanging various forms of snake oil. I believe the majority of people simply don't want to put in the work and the allure of a quick fix is far more attractive than staying consistent to a program that actually works LONG TERM. But that's the world we live in now. The right way to do things is often seen as 'boring' or 'tedious' so the quick fix route (in it's many forms) will always be around.

    You mean I can’t lose 20lbs in 6 days 😃

Dr Norton's books are a fantastic read and he really knows his stuff. If you're easily offended, don't follow him on Twitter. He likes to engage the thousands of nutrition bulls***ters out there and can get pretty crass. He posts some informative stuff on Instagram but can get crass in a hurry. It's amazing how many chiropractors, MDs and yes, even optometrists are out there touting nutrition 'expertise'. It's really causing a lot of confusion for the general public. Dr. Norton takes it upon himself to police these folks and it's pretty comical when he engages them.

He is in your face. I like him because he takes the time to read studies and other professionals opinions on studies to be in the know. Other good resources are the guys at MASS...Erik helms, Greg knuckles (not sure on spelling).

  8. While losing weight isn’t my current objective I have slowly been reading fat loss forever by dr Layne norton and Peter Baker. It’s a great resource for anyone looking to take the journey, on the journey and looking for info or for those looking for the way to keep it off.

Dr. Norton is the love him or hate him type but his educational background as well as his fitness life has him as great resource imo

What loft differences? The T200 & T300 are only 1-degree apart through most of the set and then the same for the 9, P, & W. They can also be combo'd with the T100 quite easily if you forget about the number on the bottom of the club. Yes, some adjustments to loft would need to be made to ensure proper gapping, but a mix like @Mudwick's AP Series set is pretty easy to accomplish.

If I were looking, I'd be looking for a hybrid, T200 4 & 5 Irons, and T100 6-P most likely. I'd potentially look at some iron options in place of the hybrid, but I would need to see data before I could make a decision.

Yeah the t100 doesn’t necessarily combo well with the rest of the set. T200/300 combo imo makes no sense because they are similar type clubs with t300 being more forgiving. Most people looking at t200 aren’t needing/looking for help in the long irons since there’s plebty of help already there.

t100/200 combo as you mentioned would need to have clubs with the same number on the bottom and this could and usually will be a hangup for many.

There are plenty of “jacked loft” thread and discussions in them around the interwebz about numbering on the soles and such. I know for me I prefer a “clean” look thru the bag and I don’t want to see two of the same numbers. Granted for me I would tend to combo with the old tmb or now u500/510 so it’s not an issue

  10. Played a familiar course that had some redesign/layout changes using holes from the other course on Saturday with the old crew.

First time swinging a club in 3 weeks and it showed. Irons were a guess most of the day. Driver was better than I figured and short game was like the irons.

Been a strange year on the course and in general with me and golf.

    It's a movement!!! 😎

I appreciate it! I certainly play and practice enough so I think eliminating the unnecessary tinkering will help. Plus my wife bought me my irons and wedges for my 40th birthday so I ought to get a few years use out of them before even considering something else!

At least til you get to SD. Then it’s time to open the floodgates.

That's why I put "(for the  most part, anyways)". For some people, $400/hour is an acceptable cost. That's still far cheaper than in-person lessons with any of the Harmons, Haney, Hardy, Leadbetter, etc. Bottom line, Gankas is more visible and more accessible AND he's got Wolff's wins backing him up along with working with the other pros you mentioned.

For full disclosure, I'm not even a big fan of his. However, I'm a huge fan of people finding pros that they like and learn from, and get them excited to play more golf.

Yeah when it comes to those guys he’s definitely a cheap option. The interesting thing is he’s accessible/visible because a buddy of his on tour told him he needed to get on social media and just do some funny stuff and some tips.

Its weird how it took Wolff and his “unique” swing winning for the media to talk about GG when sung Kang had won the Byron Nelson just a couple months ago and had some good finishes in the last couple years.

Gankas has been quite popular for around 3-4 years now at least. He's getting some accolades because of Wolff, sure, but he's certainly not flavor of the month.

He also gets a lot of talk because he's accessible - he offers video lessons online, the "average joe" can afford to go see him still (for the most part, anyways), he's got YouTube & Instagram videos galore that a lot of people find helpful, etc etc etc.

Again, just because someone's being talked up because of his techniques and student results doesn't mean that every other coach is lesser or bad. I don't understand why a thread discussing someone's techniques and teaching style automatically means everyone else is worse by comparison. That's just not the way it works.

    He’s quite expensive.

GG is the flavor of the month because Wolff won.... Why isn’t anyone talking about Kuchar’s coach? Kuchar’s won MULTIPLE times this season, and is leading the FedEx Cup standings. Spieth’s Coach, McCormick I believe, was hot when Spieth had that big year as a “youngster” on Tour. “Jocking” a coach because one of his players wins quickly on Tour, and then claiming that THIS coach is REALLY teaching, or doing something so different is hyperbole at best.
Good gracious. Haney was REALLY hot when he had Tiger, then when Tiger switched again, Sean Foley was the best... Slow the roll, folks. Anyone talking about Schauffele’s coach? JT’s coach? Patrick Cantlay’s coach? Nawwww. Those coaches ain’t got NOTHING on GG! He’s the REAL deal....

He may be the flavor of the month as far as tv coverage and Wolff having success in his short career but GG is far from the flavor of the month in instruction. As mentioned earlier in the thread he worked with adam Scott, Harrington is working with him. Sung Kang has a win on tour, he’s worked with Danny Lee.  He has Johnny Rodriquez who had some status on web.com. He’s had high level amateurs in his stable for awhile.
