  1. I played 18 at my local muni today, and I am pleased with the results.  My driver, for the most part, performed well.  54 degree through 9 Iron did likewise.  8 iron through 6 iron was neither very good nor very bad, kind of like a yawn.  LOL.  5 and 4 iron could have performed better, but I cannot blame the club but I sure would like to.  My putting was average; stable but not exciting.  I am happy that I did not have any double bogeys, but neither did I have any birdies.  I was able to use my new Cleveland Launcher Halo XL 4 + Hy-Wood, and I know I need to spend some more time with it to dial it in as I want.  I did not do horrible with it, but I know I can do better.  Ending with a 6 over is not the best I have ever done, but it certainly better than I have been playing lately.  At the end of the front nine I was 2 over and was starting to think I could be heading to a new personal best, but I fell apart on the back.  Again, that is on me.

  2. Previously I had mentioned I was looking for something to replace my 3 Wood, that I simply could not hit it reliably.  After trying out a few things, today I made the decision.  Today I purchased a Cleveland Halo XL Hy-Wood 4+.  I took it to the range and tried it out, and bought it.  After I bought it I hit some more with it.  I take it to play this Firday.

My Apple Watch is out of commission this week, so I am back to using the old Link temporarily.  Any reviews on the Link Pro?  Just curious.

I am interested as well about the Link Pro.  I am experiencing an issue with my left wrist and cannot wear my Apple Watch.  Someone must have used the Link Pro.....

I love having my speaker in the cart but I keep my music low enough you can't really hear it outside of the cart. I understand not everyone wants to listen to what I listen to and I'm self-conscious when I can hear it on the green so I keep it loud enough for my cart and that's it.

I wish everyone had your consideration.

I’m with @Preeway on this. Watching the ESPN coverage the guy who witnessed it said he tried to dive around and was told to stop. A cop latched on to his car and went what he said was another 10 yards before he stopped. Yeah, guy said Scottie mistakenly took it as security but I don’t think you can put words into someone else’s mouth. If a cop tells you to stop in a moment like that, you stop. He didn’t. He went to jail.

Agreed.  I can only hope his celebrity status does not get him off.  He should be totally accountable for his actions, pro golfer or not.

I've had trouble with a 3w for years, the cleveland xl halo line is pretty easy to hit imo.  Head is quite a bit larger than most so gives you some confidence for sure.  Definitely not the longest though

    Thank you

Might try Cleveland's new Hywood 3+, 17 degree loft it is claimed to be part hybrid and part fairway wood,I hit it at a demo day and it was impressive as I also have issues with a 3 wood.

    Thank you.

  8. For the past several years, my wife and I have gone to the Pinehurst area for our anniversary in July, and we are planning to go again in a couple of months.  Typically we stay at the Talamore Villas.  I like it there because it is close to many of the courses we play, and she likes it because they are comfortable and have everything we need.  It can be hot in the Pinehurst area in July, but it really has become a tradition for us.

  9. Yesterday I had a very satisfying round of golf.  I had mentioned last week that after a two month delay,  I was able play.  While 12 over was not my ideal, but considering that I had not touched a club in such a long time, I was not complaining... too loudly. lol.  Yesterday I played again, but this time at a more difficult course.  I was able achieve 9 over, so (insert happy face here), I am feeling good.

  10. I believe there defiantly an up-tic in horrible etiquette on the course since covid.  It seems to me that a lot of people decided to golf because there was little else you could do during the pandemic.  Unfortunately, they did not really get proper instruction on how to act on the course.  Things like limiting the time you look for a lost ball, letting faster players play through, etc.  I have not observed anyone fighting on the course, but I did run into a guy who insisted I picked up his ball.  There was nothing I could do or say that would convince him otherwise... at the end I just shrugged my shoulders and moved on.  Of course, that really pissed him off.

  11. I was a tester in 2021 for the Arccos system.  It performed well for me after a learning curve on my part.  Yes, there were some missed shots, but those lessoned once I figured it out.  When the subscription period was over, I switched to Shot Scope.  The idea of purchasing it once, and not having a subscription, was appealing to me.  Shot Scoped performed well for me, again, after a learning curve on my part.  I came to a point though where it was pretty clear, after a period of time, that I needed to replace the sensors. About that time Shot Scope released a new wearable watch as well.  Reading the reviews, and everyone's experience with it, it did not sound like something I felt I would take a gamble on.  I made the decision to move back t Arccos.  At that time Arccos was having a great 'deal', which was less expensive than the 'deal' from Shot Scope.  Having used both systems, I cannot say I see a clear advantage to either of them, for my game.  I suppose I will keep an eye out on both, and their latest technology, to move forward.

  12. I'm in the planning stages of my annual trip to Pinehurst in July.  Likely it will include 3 nights, and 2 rounds of golf.  July can be horrible hot down there, but it is a tradition for my wife and I to spend our anniversary there.  I did give her an out this year, asking her where she would like to go for our anniversary trip, and she responded Pinehurst with no delay in responding.

Depending on the 3W, they can be hard to hit.

Have you tried choking down on the 3W to effectively give you a shorter shaft.  It might help you hit more center strikes / better contact.

In terms of clubs, I think you may want to try a driving iron or a low lofted hybrid.  It has a lower trajectory than your 5 wood and should roll out to 175 yds.   It could be a great option on windy days.

    Good luck on your search.

Thank you.  Certainly something to look into

  14. OK, to start please no negative comments.  I really need something I can hit between my Driver and 5 wood.  I have found I just cannot hit a 3 wood.  My driver is about 200 yards(thank you wife for the fitted driver),and my 5 Wood is about 150 yards. I tried, and tried to hit my 3 wood but I just could not, so,  sold it. I would really like something between the two, but have not found it.

  15. There are times, like recently, that I am not able to play as much as I want.  However when I do,  I remember "God Dam, I LOVE this game".  I love being outdoors with friends.  I love that "one hit" that makes it all worth while.  I am almost at the point where score, and the handicap, are not that critical to me as the experience..... almost. LOL
