Broken shaft.

Recommended Posts

Okay. So last weekend my anger got the best of me at the end of another pathetic round of golf, ending with needing to replace the shaft of my 8 iron, it is a KBS tour Stiff, I'm having problems with the tip trimming. I have contacted Mizuno which is where I purchased the clubs, and they keep telling me that they only use tapered shafts in their irons which do not get tipped, but correct me if I am wrong, the KBS tour shaft is not tapered and must be tipped, KBS website shows 4 different tipping instructions for the tour shaft what I am looking for is what the standard tip trim would be if we didn't make a special instruction to make the shaft softer or firmer this probably makes no sense, but I'm hoping one of the repair guru's will be able to figure it out let me know if you new any other information and I will try to get it

There are two types of shafts.  .355 taper and .370 parallel.  Mizuno uses .355 taper so you need to order an 8 iron .355 taper tip and then butt trim to length.  .370 is tip trimmed to what ever iron you are using.  However, it will not fit into the Mizuno hosel.

It is replaced. I had misunderstood what the mizuno rep. Was telling me, it is a .355 tip shaft, for what ever reason I kept thinking .370, and then he kept saying .355 taper and I just couldn't process what he was saying, that's why I posted here, once I read RR's post realized my error.

Yes, I did order the Lefthanded model shaft.

Seriously though, it comes down to controlling your emotions on the course, and when you decide to hit a shot, you have to be okay with the outcome no matter what happens, if you can't be okay with the shot you choose, don't play the shot. I put a lot of pressure on myself sometimes, and that can lead to frustration, the thing that really pissed me off is that after breaking my club (8 iron) I only bogeyed the hole.
