My deepest sympathies. Before I had my cat, I never knew. But now, my cat is family and I would be heart broken if anything happened.

Sorry to hear about this, buddy.  I had this happen a couple of days after Thanksgiving last year.  I still think about that dog all the time, especially since it's coming up on 1 year since he's been gone.

Sorry man. All of us feel your pain. Dogs are something special in our lives. When the tears come - go to a happy place where your dog was with you. Remember the good times.

I'm sorry for your loss. It's always very very hard to lose a friend, especially so suddenly. After my last dog died I haven't had the heart to get another one, although I know someday I will. The funny thing is- there have been times in life when I have really been struggling, and either Snoopy or Hudson have visited me in my dreams. I know it was them, because I could not in my own mind replicate or predict their behavior or mannerisms. Hudson doesn't always look the same (maybe he comes to me as he pictured himself- "What Dreams May Come" style), but I know it's him. Every time this has happened, I have felt a sense of peace, and it's helped me to find the way forward. They never truly leave us, and you will see your pup again.

I picked-up her body and took her to the crematorium yesterday. I was able to pick out her wooden box, and create a nameplate, and the owner of the place was very kind. He only cremates one dog at a time, so we know we'll have Nanna's ashes.

I had forgotten to bring him a check, so he said just leave it with our vet as that's where he'll leave the ashes. I was doing well until one of the girls at the vet teared-up and said, "I'm so sorry. She was SUCH a sweet girl." I could hardly get a thank you out.

 

I appreciate the kind words, and it has helped me to be able to read them, and write some more. I'm out of town on business until Sunday, so her ashes will be home when I get back. I will shed a tear, but it will be good to have the ashes near where she always sat.

Sorry for your loss. We have a golden/lab mix that is 6 and I'm hoping she has many more years with us, but I know I'll be a mess when we have to say good bye.

So sorry to hear of your loss, but you gave her a wonderful life and loved her to the end. She wouldn't have changed a thing. Take joy and comfort in the fact that her heart would have soared every time you smiled at her, every pat or hug was the greatest moment of her life and being able to spend time with you and your family made her the happiest soul on earth.
