JohnSmalls
It's been almost a month and the lefty thread is on vacation. Well I am returning to my rightful thread home with this post. A while back, I saw in a golf magazine where Mizuno offered a set that was considered one of the top "game improvement" clubs. I contacted Mizuno about the availability of left handed clubs in that model. Their response was that unfortunately they do not offer those clubs in a left handed version. They explained that the demand for left handed clubs in that model did not warrant the cost to produce left handed clubs. While I was disappointed, again, I must applaud their honesty. There was a year or 2 where they didn’t offer some of their clubs in Lefty, but the newer stuff seems to be available Quote Lefties are always in their Right Mind

I've got about 10 putter grips laying around my grip stash...SS 2.0, 3.0, Ping man blackout, Ping PP58, PP62, Bettinardi Oversized Lamkin Deep Etch, P2 Reflex Tour, GP Tour SNSR, GP Tour Tradition, a few others I can't think of. The Gravity Grip similar to a Rosemark NEO shape, maybe something like a P2 Reflex Tour but not as pronounced on the underside of the grip. Think pistol style without the taper and with some wide hips. It's got the texture and softness of the older Evnroll Midsize 115g grips that came stock on their putters. I like the grip for the most part, but I've been finicky about grips in the past. Personally I like the shape of the Oversized Bettinardi Lamkin Deep Etch Cord grip (pistol shape), but it's way too heavy and can really throw off the swing weight. The ping PP61 on their vault 2.0 series is a close second. Well this putter ho was sorely disappointed to hear the results of the putter fitting with the SAM lab at Club Champion... I apologize for not having this stuff electronically but let me dictate what the print out shows/fitter told me: 'Wow...this is strange...hit some more putts...wow...this is crazy...' - club fitter I have a grand total of 2* of putter rotation in my stroke...essentially the closest robotic 'straight back/straight through' the fitter has seen. He said most guys have 6-15* of putter rotation on the back swing and follow through but noting this close to 0*. So what does this mean? Goodbye to all you sexy flow necks. Goodbye to all you lovely plumber necks. Goodbye to any putter with any true character to it whatsoever. While the Evnroll ER5 is a solid fit for my swing, the putter shape that was recommended was the Bettinardi Queen Bee #6. Yes, a rectangle, bland, fugly brick on the end of a double bend shaft. The most 'meh' putter out there. And yes, I rolled it and yes, made all ten of the 12' putts with it. Essentially true face-balanced putters with 0* of toe hang will work for my stroke but with my stroke being so 'robotic', no putter will truly stand out, nor will one really be detrimental unless it has 45*+ of toe hang. So...the fitter adjusted my loft (from 2.65* to 1.75*) and lie (from 71.25* to 69.75*) and I rolled in all ten 12' putts. No new putter needed. The hoeing of putters is over for yours truly. It's fugly mallets with double bends from here on out and one won't improve the game more than the other. What I have is 'probably 95% fit to my stroke'...could the fitter have kicked me any harder in the nuts? I think not. Recommended putter: Bettinardi Queen Bee 6 Other recommendations from fitter (I'm done with most inserts so most of these are solid/milled face putters): TM Spider (the only insert I do enjoy) SC x5 Bettinardi iNOVAi series ...and that's about it. Kor.A.Door
Buddy of mine who is also left handed put me on to the Facebook site called Lefty golf buy sell trade. Do not check it out. It will cause you to want more things than you need, seriously though, it looks to be a pretty good place to check out some Lefty stuff. txgolfjunkie
It is fantastic that you went and took the time to be fit for a putter. Getting feedback about your stroke and then sharing it here is making me re-think what my big purchase this year will be. I was originally thinking a driver, but a putter fitting may be more beneficial. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpyGetting a legit driver fitting has saved me a bunch of money. I used to go through drivers and shafts like crazy and always thought the next driver would add a double digit gain on my carry yardage or suddenly find the magic combination but alas I discovered that the difference between certain driver heads were minimal and there are only a few select shafts that could help with dispersion and launch numbers. I anticipate the putter fitting will do the same thing. A professional fitting with trackman/GC Quad with someone who can properly interpret the data and recommend the proper setup is a great investment, especially if you're easily swayed/hooked by club marketing and what you see on TV like me. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpyThank you for the advice. The more and more I read in here about what being properly fit can do for your game, the more and more I want to make the investment. I just need to convince SWMBO of the same thinking. Don’t do it!Thanks for the heads up of a place to find lefty gear. You know I’m giving in to this temptation and looking to see what I can sneak into the bag without SWMBO noticing.
