So since we are lefties here, shall we talk about “Lefty.”

 

Do you guys think he has enough left in him to get the US Open to complete the career grand slam or is it too late?

 

I would take this to the main forum, but they don't all know the things we lefties do, so I'd like to keep it with us for a bit.

I don't think Phil has the patience to win the US Open...or consistent enough off the tee. He did hit 80% of his fairways at Shinnecock but if you look at what he does with narrow fairways, he's proven he can't hit them consistently. He also can't hold back and play conservative when the time calls for it. I also believe the field of top golfers is getting larger and stronger...which is in large part due to the success and attraction of guys like Phil and Tiger.

Sadly no. I think his chance at an Open has past. Having said that I hope he gives it a good run at Pebble next year.

I was hoping either Phil or Bubba would make a strong run at it. In other news we were playing in league today when one of the guys rocketed a putt way past the hole we yelled at him to do a 'Phil' and hit it in motion.

I think he has enough to win the USOpen, but you have to be patient, and you have to just make par, you can't try to make birdies. Phil had never played golf on a conservative level, ever. Looking back at all the second place finishes he should have won at least 2 times, but his flare for going for it and pushing a bit too hard cost him on the last holes or couple of holes. Can he win it, yes, will he win it, doubtful. As someone said earlier, there are way too many top level young golfers that he has to beat. At the US open they are all there. Too many really good golfers in the field of players, and he has to beat all of them, it will take something really special for it to happen. As badly as I want it to happen, I don't think I will see it.

As “controversial” as it is, Bubba is always my top choice. But I would definitely be a fan of a Brian Harman win.

I'm a Bubba fan as well. I always appreciate seeing someone at the top of there profession doing it a non-traditional way.

Twitter would have had a meltdown, and I'm pretty sure they would have had to sensor the tv feed. Two lefties paired for a the final day of a tournament would have been too hard to handle for the general public.

Bubba was on fire yesterday. He must really like that course since yesterday was his second 63 of the tournament.
