2018 Official Forum Member Review - Cleveland Launcher HB/CBX Irons

Recommended Posts

I played today and hit my HBs really well.  My cart partner kept telling me how well I was striking the 4 iron.  I told him if there was a 2 or 3 iron available I would be all over them.   Seriously Cleveland for future models please add  2 & 3 iron options.!

Yep, the 4 iron is the money club and I would buy a 2 and 3 as well.

I've never bagged a 4 iron that I have so much confidence in.  It's a real pleasure to have in my arsenal.

Wow sounds like these clubs are not only inspiring confidence but also real performance gains! Is there any lies that you struggle off or are they consistent everywhere?

My Launchers haven't found a lie they didn't like to be honest. My big concern going in was lies in the rough but they have out performed any other iron I have used in this area. I will be a bit more in depth on this very topic in stage 2.

Wedgie has more of an upright (proper) swing plane than I do so he can get down after the ball in the rough. In fact, I don't remember him hitting anything off center with the HBs.  Myself on the other hand,  I have a flat swing (picker) therefore those shots in the thick bermuda rough are a bit of a challenge.  I have come out with some great shots out however I have hit some very heavy too..

I was having some problems chipping yesterday with distance control using my PW, 7I..  Most likely it was my technique however next week I will work on my greenside chips and then keep up with how many up and downs I can achieve.   I took my specialty wedge (square strike wedge) out of the bag so I could put the HBs under a little game time  money pressure . I put the SSW back in yesterday for when I play the money games.

That SSW is going to take some beating. Would be nice to see a straight comparison between that and the new wedge...

And you will once our greens heal up.   They recently punched and sanded them and once they do that it takes several days for the greens to return to form.

The Honeymoon is over and the lifetime commitment is on!  Today, I sold my beloved Callaway Steelhead irons. Without a doubt, the Cleveland Launcher HB irons are my golfing soulmates.    I'm so thankful for the opportunity to test these irons and after all the hard work,be able to game them from here forward.  Thank you MyGolfSpy and Cleveland Golf!

Yea the HBs make golfing easier for this ole boy and since all my joints are acting up, trust me, easier is good!  To put it into proper perspective, it's like coming off a skateboard  hauling arse down a steep driveway(conventional irons) to a bicycle with training wheels (HBs) on a smooth ride.

I'm so confident in my HBs that it was not hard letting go of the Callys.  With that said, I hope they find a good home because they're well made and solid hitting irons.

Thanks buddy!   Yea I'm a happy and satisfied old coot who has found his Mother Lode of irons.

I joined three guys yesterday and played in a little points game.  Throw two bucks in the pot and winner takes all.  Well thanks to my HB irons, I took home $6.00!     Heck I'm playing with a really sore back and my irons kept bailing me out.

One question I was asked earlier was how do they perform in gusty wind?  We had a thunderstorm approaching yesterday that caused some gusty conditions.   I saw virtually no difference between the HB irons and my prior Steelhead irons with wind interaction.   I hit the HB irons a bit higher however there was no significant drop off with distance in windy conditions vs the Callaway Steelhead irons.  Perhaps this is because I have more center strikes with the HB irons as they are easier for me to hit.
