In my view, it started to slide in season 6, I stopped watching about half way through season 7. Pretty much jumped the shark, IMO.

Unfortunately they jumped the shark a long time ago for me. Too divergent from the source material. Killing Carl was the proverbial straw!

Killing Carl was a surprise. While some deviations from the comics they have followed relatively closely. Yes there were new characters, characters leaving, and fixes to things they didn't do well in the comics. But some were outside of their control.

Rumor online is Rick (Andrew Lincoln) will leave but will return next season. And he will return as another actor that looks like Rick. If that happens , I will be so disappointed.Personally I think it is time to start wrapping this series up

I think this series will do a major time jump.And maybe even be caught up or exceed the comic at this end of this season.Huge fan , but nothing can beat the first few seasons.More soap opera than zombie now

I never read the comics, but love the series. I did tire of the "Rick almost killing Neegan" thing over and over again though.

started good, decent story..........then it all went pear shaped with gratuitous gore, poor story, some terrible 'baddy' acting and jumped about all over the place. Dont watch now.

I stopped watching when Glens face got bashed in. That was more than enough for me. Still have nightmares about it.

This season is actually really good. Looks like Rick might leave the series on a very gruesome note. He is in a bad predicament

Think it is really great by AMC to show Rick Grimes season highlights during all the commercial breaks.I really respect how he is leaving the show so he can be with his family.Cant wait and see how this ends tonight

Well, from what Gimple said last night, this won't be the end of Rick Grimes' story. They're going to do movies and stand alone episodes on AMC.

 

BTW, how was the 6 year time jump at the end?

how he lived is beyond me. And looked like his body had no damage from the explosion.The universe of this show is really expanding now.Judith is the new Rick with the time jump.She is around 12 or so and everyone else looks like they aged quite a bit.Really a weird episode

Judith is about 9 because the events of last night were when she was about 3. In regards to no damage to him from the explosion, c'mon man, it's TV, the hero can be knocked out but receive no damage.
