First post here. I actual do a lot of golf reading on here for info and entertainment but never chimed in. This place keeps me entertained for hours!

How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score?

Been playing four about 23 years, since I was 10 years old. Grandfather got me a youth Michael Jordan set of clubs when I first started and I was hooked. The whole family had memberships and played religiously so I hopped in with them and would hit little wormy fades with the MJ driver tee'd up at the 150 marker. Playing travel baseball growing up took a lot away from playing consistently through my teen and high school years but once I made it to college golf became my only hobby outside of normal life. Currently shooting around a +12 which is my handicap in my local golf association group but the course we play at is one of the easier ones in the area and I tend to shoot more +15 or +16 when I play the tougher courses in the area.

What do you love about golf?

The peace and addiction the sport brings. Although I do love grinding, getting better and trying to lower my handicap, nothing beats carelessly smacking a little white ball for 5 hours with your buddies or by yourself with no other thoughts going on in your head. The only sport I know that you can get better with age.

What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies?

Always read reviews here and decided to hop on board to share anything that can be useful.

Where are you from? What is your home course?

Lafayette, Louisiana. Mainly play at Farm D'Allie.

What are the best and worst things about golf in your region?

In late spring the weather is unbeatable. Every other part of the year, the humidity makes the cold colder and the heat unbearable sometimes.

What do you do for a living?

1. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score?

I started playing freshman year of highschool (2005). Been off and on since the end of high school but have been consistently playing/ practicing for the last year again. Currently my handicap is 11.4 my normal scores and mid to low 80s.

2. What do you love about golf?

The challenge every time you pick up a club. I love constantly trying to be better than my last shot or my last round. And also it’s never the same, it doesn’t get boring.

3. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies?

I love the unbiased reviews. I like the testing process of using real golfers across the scale of skill. It gets tiring seeing scratch golfers or robots testing clubs and equipment I’m interested in.

3. Where are you from? What is your home course?

I am originally from central California but moved to DFW at the end of 2021. Wouldn’t say I have a home course, I tend to play a lot of courses around me and don’t mind driving a little further for a new course to play. I typically practice at Coyote Ridge though as it’s the closest/nicest practice facility!

4. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region?

Weather and weather. Summer is insufferably hot and humid and winter is freezing/dormant grass.

5. What do you do for a living?

I work on power lines for the local utility company in Dallas, Oncor Electric Delivery.

6. How’d you pick your user name?

It’s been my go to username for some time. Easy to remember and usually is not taken!

Hey fellow hackers!

I'm pretty new to these forums and just really getting back into golf after a number of years off. Due to a decent amount of weight loss, I've had to completely re-learn my swing and game so last year I figured if I was going to have to re-learn everything, I might as well do it with some new clubs.

How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score?

Started in the late 90s but never took it seriously. Picked it back up after my divorce in 2016 but only played steady for a couple years then again last Spring and have consistently playing since. I'm currently sitting at a 25 handicap which I know is bad but when I started up again last Spring, I was over a 36 so there's definitely been steady improvement.

What do you love about golf?

Just getting outside and being active. Since losing weight, my life has had a dramatic improvement and I love to be able to do things that were a struggle prior.

What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies?

I stumbled upon these forums and found it to be a great place to find useful info. I don't personally know anyone on here.

Where are you from? What is your home course?

Rio Rancho NM, Santa Ana Golf Course

What are the best and worst things about golf in your region?

You can play almost year round but the Spring has some windy days which suck

How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score?

I took a couple lessons as a kid and played on our Jr High team. Class was 75 kids so they would take what they could get. Dropped it in HS and College and picked up again about 7-8yr ago.

Currently playing at a 16-17 and averaging low to mid-90s

What do you love about golf?

Like many others, the pursuit of excellence is always fun to strive for. I also love all the gear that's come about over the years. Constantly new brands/tech/advancement and it's fun to be in the thick of it.

What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies?

Interested in being a tester for equipment, been reading the site/blog for years and turned a lot of friends onto it. Figured I should be more active on the forum.

Where are you from? What is your home course?

Texas, have probably played Iron Horse in NRH more than anywhere else. In the process of applying for a golf club close to my house.

What are the best and worst things about golf in your region?

Best:  the ability to play year round

Worst:  heat in summer is oppressive

What do you do for a living?

How’d you pick your user name?

Play on my unique name

Bonus: Favorite Course Played Last Year

Mystic Creek in El Dorado, AR. We do a golf trip every year (in 2 weeks headed to Alabama), and last year we started at Mystic Creek for a couple days and finished with 4 courses in Hot Springs Village. Was a great trip and Mystic Creek is such a cool track

Very cool. I have not heard any horror stories of somebody sitting out on their porch getting hit, but I imagine those places have gotten their fair share of errant tee shots (assuming you talking about the ones off the 10th)

1. How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score?

I’ve always had a set of clubs, I’d say I started trying to play well about 3-4 years ago. My handicap now is a 12 and I’ve shoot high 80’s, a good day would be anything sub 85.

2. What do you love about golf?

No two rounds are the same, you can finish an awful 18 and start over at the same course on the same day and you could shoot your best score, it’s just a wild game like that.

3. What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies?

I don’t know any other spies, saw a ball review a couple years ago and have always followed and paid attention to what MGS puts out, just recently decided to join in the forum.

4. Where are you from? What is your home course?

Northeast Texas, home course would be Buffalo Creek.

5. What are the best and worst things about golf in your region?

Hardpan fairways on muni’s, it’s a love hate thing. On one hand it’s just the nature of the beast out here and you take your excessive rollouts, on the other hand once you play a more lush fairway it’s like peeking behind the curtain to a world you don’t belong in.

6. What do you do for a living?

7. How’d you pick your user name?

Name and birth year combo, it’s a default setting for me.

Pretty new here, been a long time reader of the articles as I have gotten more and more into golf. I loved reading through the forum and getting other peoples insights, and thought might be time to start chiming in and getting involved with the community.

How long have you been playing golf? What’s your handicap or normal score?

  • Roughly 2 years off and on, but last summer I got really into it. Now I'm hooked.
  • I dont have an official handicap. I usually play 9 holes due to time restrictions and my fiance likes to play with me but doesnt have the drive to play a full 18 most days. If I can shoot 44-48 I'm pretty happy with that. Looking to keep chipping away so that 40-44 becomes the norm and hopefully translates to a similar front/back when out playing a full 18.

What do you love about golf?

  • I love the chase for perfection. Having that one pured shot and chasing that down. Its a great way to get some sunshine, and my fiance and I almost exclusively walk courses so it helps us get our s teps in

What brings you to MyGolfSpy? Do you already know any other Spies?

  • Like I said, long time reader of the site, but I like seeing others takes on equipment and all things golf.  I dont know any other spies.

Where are you from? What is your home course?

  • I'm from North Idaho (grew up there my whole life) but I've lived all over (Seattle, Louisiana, Austin, Oregon) and recently moved from Oregon to south Dallas. In oregon I played Pine Ridge Country Club in Springfield mostly, but with the move to Texas I joined a club (because I think I might actually save money doing this) and thats Walnut Creek Country Club in Mansfield, TX

What are the best and worst things about golf in your region?

  • So far, the hard ground (soft ground in Oregon was a luxury it seems) and the wind conditions this time of year in Dallas

What do you do for a living?

  • Project Management for a major Telecom company based in Dallas :)

How’d you pick your user name?

  • Similar to a name given to me on my birthday.
