I know everyone is different, but these don't feel heavy to me, compared to my FJ Contours. How long did it take to wear out? I've played 6 rounds in them, and had a couple of range sessions,

When my wife asked if I wanted to leave Maine and move to where she grew up, I couldn't say no to Pinehurst, NC. I honestly don't spend much money on golf equipment, but I'm constantly reading reviews in case I ever get ready to buy

I swing left handed and have been the State of Maine Left Hander's champion since 1997, the last year they held the tournament. I'm currently a 7.1 handicap. Trying to get lower, but my gut gets in the way.

Now that I’m a little more comfortable in these shoes I’ve gained up and down the line. While it’s easiest to tell on drives, I’ve tried clubs that I used to hit at certain distances and am closer to those old distances than I was with other shoes. For example my 7 iron was my 165-170 club years ago and in the past year it was my 155 club. I’m confident I can hit it 160-165 at this point. That’s huge to me.

Wow, thanks for the replies @Javs, @ScramblinMan, @ctg44 & @JeremyD! Having solid shoes to help with distance and accuracy gains is something I never considered before mygolfspy and these forum reviews. I’m in the market for a new pair of shoes so I’ll be keeping a close eye on this thread because SQAIRZ are on the top of my list at the moment.

I finally found my 2nd pair yesterday, which was sent as a warranty replacement when the soles of the original pair of warranty replacement shoes started coming apart in the same place as the first pair of shoes I bought. Other than I have an aggressive swing with a lot of forward rotation on the front foot and play in all weather conditions on occasionally hard ground, I can't really say that I'm very hard on these. I have several pairs of Nikes that don't fit quite as well and aren't as comfortable, but have held up far longer.

Were the Sqairz more durable (and maybe a little less ugly), they'd be a permanent part of my golf game. However, given the cost, I will have to think hard about it when these finally wear all the way out if I replace them with Sqairz again. Most likely I will, but maybe not.

Are you guys seeing added distance with every club or only the drives?

I am about to post my first set of data with the launch monitor and I didn't have time to test all clubs and instead focused on the driver and my 3 hybrid.  I did see some added speed on the driver but not a lot. For the hybrid the data is almost a wash with my adidas shoes slightly edging out the Sqairz.  I will do more testing this week.  Like what other people have noted in the testing, what I am noticing the most is the added stability and thus consistency in my shots more than I am distance.

Update, I added more information to my testing thread with testing data from some time on a driving range as well as some of my thoughts on the breathability and/or lack thereof.

well this week really tested out the comfortability of these shoes played in a 54 hole scramble tournament 18 on Friday, Saturday  and Sunday it was HOT this weekend in NWA with the highs in the 97 to 100 heat index i did start to notice some pain on the back lip but most shoes rub there but after a while it came down into my heel ( I think it had something to do with the soles) as I noted the soles are very thin so after a while it was my whole  foot...... now for the positives i also shot a personal best with my wife of a 69 on Sunday and it wasn't on a launch monitor but there is a hole on the course that i always end up in the bunker no matter but i was feeling good and wanting to shoot low so i went for it and cleared the bunker by about 7 feet and rolled to about 10 feet past it im starting to see that distance they talk about and personally I think it comes from your foot being able to spread out more and these shoes just make you feel like you are glued to the ground so you can swing harder i think all weekend I had about 5 what I would call bad miss hits ( thinning or chunky hard left hard right) its a drastic decrease in those numbers

I haven't noticed anything yet on the wear, about 4 rounds and a couple of times on the range and no noticeable wear on the interior.  I like the performance and comfort of the shoes as well and when I pick them up I feel the difference in weight with my other shoes but once I put them on they don't feel heavy on my feet.

I've been wearing the Sqairz shoes exclusively since I did the original test. Considering that I play and or practice at least once a week, the shoes go through a lot of use. I've had my third pair almost a year now, and the wear is just starting to show up. On the original pair and the middle pair, it's been there for a while, but I still wear them. The wear pattern is the same in them though. The seam in the lining right in the middle of the heel splits, and the top of the insole under the heel shows a lot of wear.

my swing needs to adjust to the slight height difference from what I'm used to.

Funny you mention this height difference.  I read this when you posted it and meant to do some measuring, but got sidetracked.  I played a pretty lights out even par round June 17th (Saturday - lights out because I had 5 birdies - then the lights went out), and a +6 on Sunday.  I cannot recall if I was wearing the new shoes (Squarz) o not.  The last few rounds I have been killing it off the tee, long and consistent, but my iron game has been atrocious.  This post occurred to me again and I finally measured last night; the Square are 1/4" higher than my Skechers.  I am wondering if that is the difference.  As much as I hate to give up this tee game, I really need the scoring shots so I am going to have to figure it all out one way or the other.  Wondering if any of you other folks are having the same issue (if you are wearing the Square or another "new" brand) with a different height than your previous shoe?  What did you do about it?

To add on a little from my post yesterday i will say i have the white and lime green pair and surprisingly the clean off super easy used just some warm water and my shoe cleaning brush and they are back to fresh looking.... and i also noticed i dont have to dig as much to get traction on my shots from the bunker these shoes grip very well for only having 6 spikes i guess that comes down to the positioning of the spikes

Funny to read this because I was just commenting on the fact that my tee game has been great, but having issues with my iron/approach game now and I am wondering if it is the 1/4" difference in height.  I do have to admit that the shoes feel great, both from a comfort and stability perspective.

I have a much lower ball flight which is probably ideal since i use to send my balls into what i felt like was orbit but i don't have a launch monitor so i cant give exact measurement on ball flight

Picking up a launch monitor Thursday. Hope to get two range sessions in this weekend to truly see distances

I haven't put the shoes side by side to see how much taller the Sqairz are compared to my adidas but I am sure they are taller. I can't say that I have noticed a difference in ball flight. I have gone to the driving range twice, taken both pairs of shoes, switched in the middle and I didn't notice a difference in ball flight. I hit the ball more consistently as a result of the stability of the shoes but the flight of the ball doesn't appear to change.

yesterday while playing a round with a friend of mine i had a little 85 yards to the pin so i hit my shot right at the pin just one club 2 many and as im walking away my buddy says i dropped something i look back and one of my spikes had came out of my shoe luckily i had just put new spikes in my old shoes so my tool was in the truck but having to finish the round without a spike was not good i think i just turned on it a little much but it was something to note and write about

Interesting. I’ve been having a world of a time with my current shoes and spikes wearing in one spot and peeling off.

Played my first round in these finally minus a scramble the other day. I definitely felt more connection with the ground and I had 4 drives over 290 and 1 over 300. Seemed like I had a little better dispersion on irons besides a couple of mishits. Hard to see if it’s the shoes though because I did make a swing change. I do like the added stability and the comfort is as good as my spineless shoes.

Next goal is to walk 18 as I rode yesterday. Had 112* heat index Friday and today so I rode.

Still loving the comfort and “grounded” feeling of these shoes! Had my best round of the season Friday on my home course (77 even after bogeying 3 of the final four holes). Driving the ball marginally longer but irons feel crisp with better contact. Putting has been exceptional since wearing the Sqairz! Feel very confident with alignment and have adopted a more consistent stroke with a more squared stance. Played yesterday while visiting Mom in CT and wasn’t as consistent off the tee but irons were still very crisp. Lipped out 4 or 5 putts but still managed an 82. In the words of Atlanta Rhythm Section :

But I won't let it bother me tonight
I'm not gonna let it bother me tonight”…

Got a testing session in today. a little frustrated with the rapsodo mlm, but may have been my phone being in a case. I received enough answers to give a good result, but may try one more session on Tuesday. Played golf yesterday while visting my mother again. Played 9 wiht the Sqairz, and 9 with my FJ's. Scored better with the FJ, however, I had a blow up hole due to a terrible shot with my driver, and had zero to do with the shoes. It's my swing

So decided to have a little fun we have a course near where i live we call the dust bowl because the fairways and tee boxes kick it up when you hit its not a very good course but its under maintenance. people struggle here to not have grip and slipping cause its like concrete but not me i went out and shot a 31 on the 9 my lowest 9 hole score at +1 one thing i will note is weather its the sand or dirt these shoes dig and once you planted they're not moving until you move them  sand.jpg.7049d6e285acf5634e2131c8ec844a15.jpg4dust.jpg.a6acc3d3cd87bd8e44b0f198fada2f71.jpg

AND the look great i love how these shoes pop!

Funny to read this because I was just commenting on the fact that my tee game has been great, but having issues with my iron/approach game now and I am wondering if it is the 1/4" difference in height.  I do have to admit that the shoes feel great, both from a comfort and stability perspective.

I noticed the extra height as well but it forced me to bend my knees more resulting in my chest being more over the ball giving me more crisp iron shots with a less upright stance…

I actually thought of that while practicing, but hadn't quite put into practice. It's good to know someone has had success with it.

I will second that on the cleaning part, I was a dummy and stepped in a mudhole trying to find a ball near the red marker (did not) and they cleaned off pretty well.

I am traveling to play this coming week and am going back to my spikeless to see if I can tell a difference. I also did not want to pack these new shoes and bend them up too much.

While I love the comfort and stability of the shoes, the difference is truly noticeable when switching from shoe to shoe, I have been having contact problems with my irons when wearing the Sqairz. TlI hate to blame it on the 1/4" higher heel in the Sqairz, but I don't have the same degree of an issue when wearing my original shoe. An asst. Pro I loaded with the other day suggested I choke up a half an inch and that definitely helps. Kind of an interesting conundrum.

Interesting that the 1/4 inch has made that much of a negative effect for you. I have had great results with these shoes. Maybe I needed the extra 1/4, ha ha

Play like a champion today!
