Looking to join the push cart mafia

Recommended Posts

Curious what you guys think for getting a push cart. Would you buy brand new or find a decent used one? I have been watching local user deals on Facebook and have seen several sun mountain speed carts (different variants) around $75-$100 and there is a clicgear 4.0 I can get for $180 right now that looks hardly used.

Then again I could look at a cheap sub $100 caddytek on Amazon. I also found on Costco that they have the big max IQ 360 for $150 right now which noticed my golf spy rates as their #5 overall rated push cart. Thoughts and opinions appreciated.

Here is the link to the one on Costco https://www.costco.com/.product.1557596.html

thanks in advance

Couple of reviews going on right now for new carts that may be worth checking out.

I got my push cart used via FB Marketplace from someone who was moving, at $80 it was a great value. If you're not too concerned with buying new then there are definitely deals to be had.

I am in the middle of the test, but I have very positive views of the BagBoy Nitron a couple of weeks in...

@Mr Orange I have the TGW Tour Cart and it has held up well over the last two years. Folds up easilly, has all the room I need and is on sale for $170 now. If you could get one in-store you wouldn't have to pay the shipping. The only thing that I don't like about it is the umbrella holder is too short to work and you need to build an extender if you actually want to use it for rain or sun shade. I love the mesh basket and it has a closable console at the top that you can put things that can't get wet in if you have a non-waterproof bag. Finally the big bag in the back is great to toss extra clothes in or a waterbottle or whatever. Very hard for me to just walk now without my cart. And honestly it is better than being in a golf cart for convenience of putting all my things in one place. I get lost now in a golf cart and walking is such a better way to enjoy the golf course.

Definitely recommend 3 wheels over 4.

I'm currently testing a Clicgear 4.0 against a Caddytek EZ that I got from Costco a few years ago.  I've only taken the Clicgear out for one round but so far it seems pretty solid.  The Caddytek has been great, but after 200+ rounds walking it's starting to show some major wear and tear.

The Nitron thread is located here:

Our Clicgear 4.0 test is located here and will be updated over the next few weeks:

I wouldn't dismiss CaddyTek, I have one that looks so much like the TGW one shown above it makes me wonder if they don't use the same manufacturer. Having had a ClicGear and Sun Mountain previously I would rate the CaddyTek above the ClicGear and on par with SunMountain. If you buy a used one check out the tire tread, they wear out fast on a ClicGear.

I received a used push cart from a friend of mine that I used for a couple of seasons before I spent the money on a new one. Bought a BagBoy Nitron in spring of 2021 and still absolutely love it. It’s ready to roll with bag locked in within 60 seconds from the time I lift the cart out of my truck. Gets put away just as fast and it folds up nice and small. Rolls well, light weight, and stable.

I will echo most everyone's thoughts in here, don't sleep on CaddyTek as I have an EZ V8 that's seen over 1,000 miles and is just starting to show wear.

That being said, I won't spoil my Bag Boy Nitron review, but the Nitron is an awesome cart that is better (my opinion) than my CaddyTek.

Ditto everyone's responses. Echo @edingcabout caddytek. Inexpensive and really solid. Great 1st push cart IMO

I have the BigMax one from Costco and like it well enough. The only negative is the front wheel can sometimes get twisted and take a bit of effort to get re-centered. Otherwise, it's solid, holds stand and cart bags, and rolls over any terrain with little effort.
