hriehl1
I see from these replies EVERYONE ALWAYS shows up early. Perhaps an interesting related question is what should be done when one (or an entire group) is late for his/her tee time and the tee sheet is full? Should the following group be sent out early (if they're all there) so groups swap tee times? What if the later group doesn't want to go out early? Should the scheduled players who ARE there go out on their scheduled tee time... letting the laggard go directly to wherever the group is on the course when he/she finally arrives? Should it matter if one is stuck in traffic... or sitting in the bar and not paying attention to the time? What do you see where you play? Quote Link to comment
Shinnman
30-40 min before tee off. So, I can get shoes on, warm up properly, practice some chips and putts. Shlax
30 minutes prior to tee time is somewhat of the minimum for me: Get things out of the car, push-cart, etc. Pay green fee. Put sunscreen on. Make a few putts and if possible, a few chips Stretch prior to first tee. Allow a few minutes if starter calls our group in advance. EMacK1961
I get there about an hour before. I stretch...alot, hit practice balls and get loosened up with my golf shot of the day, then I hit the putting green. If I don't get the stretching in, parts in my back may fall off. 16 spinal surgeries will do that for you. Wish everybody got there 30 minutes early. I manage a group of 8 to 13 guys on Monday and Thursday. They tell me via email what days they will play and I make up groups. I try to get a little variety on who plays with who while knowing who likes to play together. Some get there 45 minutes ahead some 5. And then you have the issue of the league ahead of us not using all their tee times and we can get off early. Somebody used the term " herding cats " earlier. I've got to the point where I lie to them about what our tee times are. Quote Link to comment
Hack2379
I find when people are late it bothers me just as much as playing behind people who are supper slow. 30 minimum should be required. Shrek74
I'm one of those people who have to arrive well ahead of time. So I'm usually there at least 45 minutes before my tee time. I like to get there early to unload, change shoes, pay the fees, load up the cart, get all my stuff out and in place, fill up my water mug, go hit a small bucket to warm up (no lessons at this point), spend some time on the putting green to see how they're rolling, and ensure I have my body warmed up. I just can't roll out of the car to the first tee like some apparently can. David Leighton Reid
I arrive approximately 45 minutes early so I have time to stretch, chip, and putt before teeing off. I find it inconsiderate of golfers that show up at the first tee close to their tee time and then begin the process of getting ready to play. If the group ahead is clear, balls should be airborne at the tee time. TG8
IMO: at least an hour before. Give yourself time to get a feel for green speed and responsiveness from chip shots. I always make sure to hit out of their rough also to see how it reacts(jumpy, smooth, pulls the face, etc..)
