I am not a tester, but I did switch recently from a Scotty Futura X to an Odyssey R Ball. It took me about 4 - 5 hours on practice greens and 3 or 4 rounds. My last round, just before my toe surgery, I had only 1 three putt from a long distance, most of my putts left me with a kick in, 2 or 3 were dead on and stopped 1 inch shy. I work on how much grip pressure I use to make sure I am not twisting the shaft at impact. Focus on that A LOT. I am curious about the long grip that Fowler uses on a std length putter and conventional grip. Donn lost in San Diego
16 hours ago, Woodrow72 said: Well what would your criteria be ? I will chip in my 2 cents worth. It is hard to calculate, because it is totally dependent on how far you are. If you hit all your greens in regulation you are probably farther away to putt, compared if a lot of your approaches that find the green are within say 30 or 40 yards and you are accurate with your wedge. So you need t track each starting distance, then % made from long, medium, short, etc. A simple and very important # to track is the % made from 5 ft or less. If the desire is to use total putts that is fine as well, but I personally think it needs more supporting information like putts per green hit, green sizes, proximity to the hole, etc. FWIW, I plan to take a little different approach for variety’s sake and incorporate Stack Putting for testing as much as I can. My goal is to honestly give feedback on this project that will benefit one and all . I have been playing golf since 1969 , am retired and play 4-5 days a week year round . We live in The Villages Florida for 9 months , then summer bird to Ohio when it’s beastly here . I encourage you each to ask specific questions if my reviews aren’t covering anything that fills your needs . I am super pumped for this review test as my putting has slipped recently and this could be my value saving item ! My current putting game is inconsistent due to the lack of distance control , I’m less than 50% 2 putts from over 45 feet and inside 25 I putt the ball close but am making less than 20% of those , I’ve been making 4-8 feet putts at a 65% pace and most missed are short . I have been leaving a lot of 40 feet plus on my approaches , hitting greens but not closely often enough .The Edel fitting system showed why my misses were short and using the demo putter I proceeded to make 85% in just a couple minutes ! My current gamer was a Scotty Caliente mallet double bend which apparently doesn’t fit my stroke . My plan for the test is putting from measured distance on a putting green ( actually several different ones ) keeping track of makes , missed , distance short or long and right or left . Then I’ll be using the tester on the courses I play and will plot the results day by day ! With the different types of grasses we have here in the 751 holes of golf located here , should be able to get good feedback for all ! It's great for a quick few minutes of putting practice but with all the lines it takes a lot of guesswork out of alignment. It's not that difficult to make 10+ eight footers in a row, which I know I would rarely do on a real green. I'm on the lookout for other ways to test the Edel Array indoors without breaking the bank spending $450+ on a Puttr or ExPutt simulator. Prodigal Duffer
Today, we had absolutely beautiful weather, so I decided I need to get out and grab some more data before the Edel arrives (love this as an excuse to get out and play!). I had a terrific day, easily the best I’ve played since September. Putting was a bit janky, though. I had a hard time getting speed figured out and the greens were in horrible shape: I missed this 16 footer just off the right edge, made the two footer for par. I lost 0.92 strokes on a 10 HCP (my nearest superior benchmark). I had one 3-putt, on the last hole, and it was 100 percent me and not the crappy greens: from 62 ft, hit it 55, with 8 ft, hit it 10, made the 2 footer. Can’t wait to get that email telling me the Edel is on the way. I was pretty excited, thinking maybe the Edel shipped and I didn’t get a notification. Nope. It’s my birthday present. Alas. On the plus side, while I didn’t play well yesterday, I had 1.04 SG on putting. If the Edel can help me improve that (or at least help me make my normal putting around that level), it might make up for my abysmal approach game. ejgaudette, ZackS, TSauer and 5 others 7 1 Quote 2023 MGS tester: OnCore VERO X1 ball 2024 MGS tester: Edel Array putter Driver: Callaway Epic Max 9* 3W: Ping G425 max Irons: Srixon JX5-MKII (5-PW) 48* Titleist Vokey SM9 52* Cleveland RTX Zipcore 56* Titleist Vokey SM8 Putter: Edel Array B-
