STR8-Tech Tour midsized on all my clubs except for the 56 and 60 degree wedges. Been traveling so today was only my second full round with that setup but I'm still very happy with them. Super comfortable, hit a couple of shots heavy and they did a great job absorbing the shock. My jury-rigged shot scope sensor setup had mixed results. The sensors stay in the caps/plugs, but today 2 of them came out completely (cap and sensor). No idea where or when, they don't seem to be in the bottom of my bag. Luckily I've got spare sensors so I'll try again and maybe glue them into the grips. Second, this was my first real "Florida" round of the year. Hot and super humid, (feels-like temp was 95-102) during the round, and I was sweating through my gloves even though I rotated them every shot. Despite that, I had no issues with the grips slipping. I obviously have several more months in which I'll be "testing" this aspect but today was a success. The stability and potential non-slip factor is something I’ll be interested in testing over my first several rounds with my JumboMax. Glad to hear you didn’t have any slipping issues with the tours. That’s what I just put on my set as well (not Str8-Tech tho.) What made you decide to go with the non-tapered grips? jbern and ZackS 2 Quote WITB!!! Before switching over I was using GolfPride MCC +4 with an extra wrap on the bottom hand, so essentially a non-tapered grip and I really liked those. I used those because I tend to battle a "flip" in my downswing, and the thicker bottom helps quiet the bottom hand a bit. The first JMX grip I tried was the tour series XL (tapered version) and it worked well for me on a 3 wood, but I prefer the non/minimal taper feel especially if I want to choke down on a shot so went with the str8 techs when I did the rest of the set. ShimmyCocoBop
I recently got the MGS email asking for ideas on products for MGS to test - I clicked on it, but it went to "range ball bucket costs"... I searched "JumboMax grip testing" and nothing came up - I even put in just the word "JumboMax", and nothing came up. That led me to believe that either we haven't tested them or haven't tested them lately. Then, Cnosil sent me the link to this thread! With Bryson's "Summer of Major Success", maybe it's time For MGS to test JumboMax Grips. I tested them personally about 4-5 years ago and liked them, but eventually talked myself out of them with the reasoning that there wasn't enough Tour success with them - a stupid reason. Funny enough, my initial tests with them were using the size that the JumboMax Fitting Guide recommended - by my glove size - MLC, and I loved them. Then, I started monkeying around with slightly smaller sizes and lost the love. My fingers and elbows are starting to bother me again - I recently switched to graphite shafts in all but my 50* and 56* wedges - so I was thinking about another personal JumboMax trial. However, I would be interested in a current MGS site-wide test so that maybe we can enlarge on what you guys have so beautifully done....plus there are some new sku's since my last trial. jbern, William P and racingdaly 3 Quote After retiring from the PGA of America, I did some demo days and club fitting for various OEMs.

ShimmyCocoBop
I spent a considerable amount testing them - at least $500 - and got my wife to try them too. I tried the initial model (black with green & silver printing), then tried the lightweight ones, then switched sizes a time or two. My best memory of them was the first one I put on my driver - it felt so natural and easy to use, and my drives were much straighter. There was an automatic reminder that any tightness in my hands was not necessary. After two rounds, I put them on the rest of my clubs. That was in the Spring of the year, and as Summer approached with the Florida heat & humidity, I was pleased that I had no problems with slippage like I did with rubber or composite grips. Again, no extra tightness needed to hold onto the club. I'll have to research all the new models JumboMax has introduced since my initial test. jbern
Had a little hiccup with my install of the JMX grips over the weekend. I was playing 18 holes and it was wet (lots of rain overnight and sprinkles throughout the first 45 minutes of our round), hot and humid on Saturday morning. After my drive on hole 8, I noticed that I could see about 1/4" of tape at the bottom of the grip. So I started twisting the grip a little bit and sure enough, I could pull it right off . The grips on my other fairway woods and hybrids were also twisting significantly more than usual. I ended up retiring the driver for the day and swung easy with the other clubs. I think some of the culprit was that they were sitting in my car the previous day (which was way hot) and then that morning was very muggy and wet. Anyway, I'll be operating on them all this week and probably using double sided tape and solvent to keep them locked in. If I'm being honest, I wasn't planning on pulling them off anyway! Irons - Blackout Ultra Lite - I'm getting lighter ones here because I use graphite shafts and the head-feel is already light. I have JMX on my whole set, and if you have individual dividers in your bag, I do think that might be something you'll have to consider. My bag is older at this point, and some of the lining in the dividers has started to come loose anyway. I wouldn't say the JMX grips have caused those issues, they were pre-existing. But when I get a new bag in the off-season, I will likely get a four or five divider bag and not individual dividers for each club. With a normal setup of dividers, I don't foresee any issues. ZackS
6 hours ago, Burningbush said: Do you need a larger bag to accommodate the larger grips? I have a full set of size XS grips and a 14 way bag and don’t have issues. With my bag in particular you can go up one more size without issue, but it’s possible two sizes bigger would be too much. I have been recently looking at bags as well. and I definitely have seen some 14 way bags that are too small at the top for my grips. so you will definitely have to pay more attention and I would say it would make it harder to buy a bag just seeing it online if you’re looking for a 14 way bag especially is you have the Medium or larger sizes. VistaKing
On the subject of needing a larger bag for JumboMax grips, I will say that when I made the change my old bag was a tight fit. I use use the XL (+3/8) grips, and I found that a DATREK bag works very well with JumboMax. ZackS, William P, jbern and 2 others
ShimmyCocoBop
I yearn for the old days when bags came with one divider - to separate the cats from the dogs, I mean the woods from the irons. We had plenty of room in the bag back then..... jbern and William P 1 1 Quote After retiring from the PGA of America, I did some demo days and club fitting for various OEMs.
Indy_Oz
I have a 7-section Taylormade Select Plus carry/stand bag. It's getting cramped fitting clubs in when the bag isn't vertically oriented. I currently have Jumbomas STR8 XS and M size grips on driver, 3W, 7W and hybrid only. Putter is fairly sizeable GP Reverse Taper pistol large. It's one reason I'm considering getting a Bagboy hybrid stand bag with 14 full length dividers. That and to mount securely on my push cart. jbern, William P and ShimmyCocoBop 3 Quote 2024 WITB: Driver: Ai Smoke Max 9* (@8*) w. ShimmyCocoBop
I ordered 13 JumboMax Str8 grips yesterday (size XS) and received tracking that they'll be here on Thursday 7/18! I had forgotten that club tangle or squishing can be an issue. I currently use a TaylorMade Flex stand bag that is not the roomiest for my 12 clubs with normal Golf Pride grips. I ride 100% of the time, so I know I'll be headed for a space issue when I install the JumboMax's. I have a Sun Mountain Tour Cart Bag that has a great top on it, so I'll probably end up using it. Here's a pic of the top - it's almost 10" x 10"...
