Popular Post Rob Person
I have had these Ghost golf towels for about 3-4 weeks, and think this is a good time to do a review on them. https://ghostgolf.com/collections/towels They have quite the assortment of color options and styles I recieved the 4 pack of camouflage towels in less than 3 days. The packaging was quite good, and boy did they have some goodies inside! First Impressions: 10/10 Right out of the box these towels looked great! The material is woven in a waffle pattern, are nice and thick, without being heavy, at the same time. The logo is stitched onto the towel, and not done in a cheap thread either! The top has both a clip on it AND a large magnet, which allows you to secure it by either means, or both. These are the dimensions of the towel, and as you can see, it's the perfect size for walkers or cart princesses (like myself ) I remember from the community call with Anand from Ghost Golf, that he talked about the challenges behind printing onto the towels, and maintaining the quality of the designs too. As you can see on the backside, they were able to accomplish this with zero bleed through. Also, the edging around the towel is sewn with quality piping. On Course Use: 10/10 My first test with the towel was on the course. I dipped the bottom half in a bucket, and left the top dry. This was for easier cleaning of my clubs. As you can see, the moisture line stayed even across the towel and absorbed evenly. What impressed me the most, was that it retained its dampness throughout the entire round, and even sometime after it. The discoloration you see is dirt from wiping down the clubs. Durability: 10/10 I purposely used this towel 4 times without cleaning it. 2 full rounds, plus 2 full range sessions. The towel has been holding up very well! Like new in fact! I've also used it to clean golf balls, wipe down my shoes, and my hands. I can say what impressed me is that the dirt and sand stayed trapped on the towel, and didn't transfer to my hands or clubs! To clean the towel I just soaked it in the sink, took a little dish soap, then bunched and swashed it around, rung it out, rubbed the towel down both sides, and clipped it up to dry on a rack in the laundry room. I wouldn't recommend putting it in a washer/dryer, as the magnet is also sewn or glued in, and any aggressive agitation may damage that part. I probably forgot to mention that it doesn't Drip!!! It really locks in the moisture!!! There was no trace of dirt and grime of essentially 4 rounds, even on the stitched logo! Use it or Lose it? : 20/20 I will definitely be keeping this on the bag! It's durable, works better than I expected from my previous towels, and also, it looks cool!!! i suspect that i wont have to buy another towel for a long long long time. pros: see above cons: make sure your magnet base on your bag is of quality. Mine was just a cheap clip over the bag, thin piece of metal. After traversing several bumpy areas, the towel magnet slid off of the base, and hit the ground. Hence the above mention of clip it and use the magnet. ____________________________ oh, did I mention the bonus items? Oh yes! In the package were "Putter pins", which are club top button magnets! They pop into the top of the grip, and you can drop the towel on the magnet to carry onto the green, bunkers, walk in pitching areas, and so on! they work on more than just putters. feel free to ask any questions Edited April 6 by Rob Person aph_cb, unccross, sirchunksalot and 7 others 6 4 Quote WITB-Foremost 551's - 3w, 5w, 5-SW (circa 1998), Top Flite 460cc Driver, Adam's 7w, Warrior GW and 60⁰, Odyssey AI-One DB putter. Preeway
Great review and I’m looking forward to using mine for the first time tomorrow. My only knock so far has been the magnet. Guessing putters are made from different metal than irons as the magnet doesn’t work with my Odyssey Ai-One. Additionally, I have a Super Stroke grip on my putter and you can’t attach the putter magnet to the top. All this means is that I can’t take the towel to the green and pick it up lazily by the magnet. Overall, I’m probably giving it the same score with only a 1 point deduction. Truly a great towel and nothing less than I’d expect from a brand like Ghost. Not sure if you have a counter weight attached directly to the inside top of the grip that would prevent that. I have not tried using the putter to pick it up yet... be right back! Shrek74
I got a set as well, but haven't played yet.I'm wondering if you can put these in the washer and purposely magnetize them to the wall of the tub and wash them on delicate. Then hang dry them. They are super impressive from a quality perspective. All the sewing is high quality, and the camo patterns look great.Gave my dad the tan one and showed him the magnet pin and how he can use it on his putter grip. He's carried an old garage rag in his back pocket when going to the green. Only thing I'm concerned with is that the magnet is sewn on, and the cover to it is rubber. It probably won't affect it much though Shrek74 and Northern Monkey 2 Quote WITB-Foremost 551's - 3w, 5w, 5-SW (circa 1998), Top Flite 460cc Driver, Adam's 7w, Warrior GW and 60⁰, Odyssey AI-One DB putter. Preeway
Follow up after using it yesterday and today. It was a windy day on Sunday and I got my towel wet as normal before I went out. Like I feared, it was bone dry by hole 6 from blowing in the wind. Before I got too frustrated I remembered Rob saying he got his soaking wet and it didn’t drip at all. So I went into the clubhouse at the turn and got it even wetter. Sure enough, it wasn’t dripping and it was wetter than I normally get my towel. However, it was almost bone dry again by 18. Damp enough to kinda work but mostly dry. When I went out this morning I decided I was going to leave it sopping wet and see how it went. After soaking in the bathroom sink I gave it a very light squeeze and walked outside. It was sopping wet but no drips. Was very impressed. Today it lasted all 18 holes with moisture but was mostly dry walking off 18. I think I could have got it even wetter before I started and will continue pushing the initial water absorption limits each time I play. My normal golf towels are always dripping when I start and are typically bone dry by hole 14-15. This towel is a significant upgrade for sure. The fact that it doesn’t drip is a huge bonus, especially with a leather bag. Just not convinced it can last 18 holes and stay fully wet in the heat of summer. So holding any final criticism for a few more months. But still, love this towel. Rob Person
Glad it was working out for you! I think in another few weeks, I will have to stop at the turn to wet it. Or at the very least a water cooler on the course. We do have 1 full bathroom at holes 4/5 on each course too I could use to re-wet it. I'm planning on using just the one towel for this year to truly test it's durability and longevity. Eltrain41
I've used the ghost towel a handful of times even though I've had it for years. I added the magnet button to the top of my putter handle to quickly pick it up off the green. Great little towel only downside is you have to hand wash it. Great as a secondary towel for ball cleaning prior to tee off and also on greens prior to putting. HikingMike
Great review. I'm glad you did this, and it's good to see they have a lot of colors. I have a new bag that has a black and heather gray scheme, so the navy blue towel I have might have to be changed out (though it's from the PGA Championship I went to, doh). Maybe I'll get a bright one for some pop. Since these are waffle weave, I have to mention that my wife and I switched to waffle weave bath towels, hand towels, wash cloths, etc. Those things really do great. I'd have to guess waffle probably absorbs more per fabric. They absorb like crazy, they dry pretty quickly, and they are less of a beast on the washing machine. However, the "Hand Wash and Air Dry" tag right on the Ghost towels really gives me pause. Huh, now I see your later post with the washing machine icon and "toss the towel in the washing machine, and let it air dry". Hmm Hopefully that works fine.
