Kbek
About two years ago I purchased the Mevo plus. I was hitting into a net and used an old flat screen TV as the display. The Mevo plus worked flawlessly for me. The data was good but it was difficult to visualize the course by hitting into a net. Six months ago I added a 10x8 impact screen and projector. This kicked the fun factor and usable data way up. It was easier for me to visualize my target line. As such, it really helped me work on face-to-target, swing path, and face-to-path. Be aware - for radar systems ensure you meet the minimum distances for your particular system. I’m running 8 feet from radar to ball with an 11 foot flight to the impact screen. I’m also using the RCT balls. Mine works great with this setup. musicalmedicine, Cfhandyman and Josh Parker 2 1 Quote Current bag is PXG 0311 Gen5 Diver and 3 Wood, Ping 425 3 hybrid, PXG 0211 4-SW, Ping glide lob wedge with the eye grind, and Bettinardi mallet putter. marfau23
Have had my eye on the Bushnell for a few years now but the MLM 2 Pro has stuck out as a definite stepping stone. If I’m going to be spending good money on a launch monitor, I’d want it to pretty easily be able to handle normal simulator rounds as well to grow in the future. sman3115
I have an Ernest Sports ES Pro which is similar to SkyTrak, but I never built the sweet setup I designed in my garage though I bought all the materials when the prices were sky-high. It works better indoors, but its awkward trying to lug that thing, my golf bag, and a laptop everywhere andf it is a pain to connect. Because of that I bought a Swing Logic SLX Hybrid when they were on kickstarter and I only used it a couple of times because the little clip that attaches to your glove goes flying down the range every 5 shots or so. Plus I really want the data to look at later which this doesn't help with. There's a bunch of controversy about it that's all over FB, but I haven't really paid attention. I just know they keep trying to fix it and people are BIG mad about it. I might have been too if I didn't kind of write it off as a lost cause. mlhume
Funny you asked. The Rapsodo Mobile LM just arrived. Will couple to my Spornia SPG-7 net and chipping net. I spent six months researching launch monitors and decided the Rapsodo unit was best for me. Rapsodo hit my criteria, especially with mobility and accuracy. With the RPT balls, accuracy is on par with Foresight GC3 and that's good enough for me. before purchase, I emailed the folks at Rapdoso about the $199 annual subscription. That's a lot and wanted to know what it covered. They emailed and explained it covered maintenance and most importantly ongoing development. I asked about tournament mode, and they are working on that. Able to simulate play with a full gallery or play online against friends. Rapsodo software is only getting better and better so I purchased it. TJ Hall 1 Quote TM Stealth 2 Plus 9 degree Hrzdus Smoke 70G stiff / SF Jupiter 1 stiff. boylerz1
I have a Mevo+ and have been very happy with it, especially for the cost. It is a bigger footprint than some of the picture based models, but I didn't have space to leave a setup ready to go anyway. I can break down (or setup) my sim in less than 10 minutes. Mevo+ has improved since I've had it and so has GSPro software that I highly recommend. I sometimes drop connectivity late in a round if multiple people are playing, but I think that is due to poor internet more so than the unit itself. I will try to add pics of this as I don't have any since my latest tweaks. Planning on using it some this weekend for patrons of the house as I watch the Masters. All in all, I have had fun piecing together my simulator. It started as a piece of turf and a net and I slowly upgraded each section. Push-ups For Bogeys
I have the Garmin R10, despite how happy I am with it, I don’t use as much as I’d like. During the winter I use my 24h membership to a facility with Trackman, and during the summer I most often use my VoiceCaddie SC200+ for my Stack training. Both of which I am happy with, but having access to a Trackman kinda makes both redundant as my pre-round sessions are more for short game a few range balls to warm up/ access my swing tendency that day. Cheers. JeffJones710
Started with the Garmin R10 and recently moved to the Uneekor Eye Mini coupled with GSPro for simulator use. I like the eye mini better than the R10 since it’s camera based for radar so I need less space for the LM. Only criticism I’ve got of the eye mini at this point is it’s got a right spin bias, so it adds more spin than is actually there, and when you are a natural fader/slicer it can accentuate the slice. That being said, the Uneekor team releases regular software updates and are actively working to fix the spin bias so I’d absolutely recommend the eye mini. MichaelM
Mevo + with the Pro software. Don't underestimate the importance of knowing your swing path and face angle. It requires more space than units that are solely camera based, but I feel it's pretty close to as accurate.
golfr007
2 hours ago, BShizzle said: I started with a Garmin R10 and it was a pleasant enough experience, but I wanted to upgrade to something a bit more professional. The next monitor was the Full Swing Kit. This unit seemed to be quite accurate at the range, but it was still early days so the net performance was still getting dialed in. I kind of felt like a beta tester; which wasn’t great at that price point. My net and mat were in the back yard (due to space requirements for the radar) so everything needed to be set up and taken down on each use. Ultimately I sold the Full Swing Kit and switched to a photometric unit with the Bushnell Launch Pro. I had avoided this due to the subscription costs, but ended up going this route because the unit received such high marks and is reliable enough to use the metrics to work on my swing. The data and performance is rock solid. I ended up getting a screen for for my Spornia XL8 net and can now hit in the garage with the smaller footprint. -Bushnell Launch Pro - GsPro and FSX Play Software -Spornia XL8 with their projection screen -Viewsonic PX748 4k projector -MSI Raider gaming laptop Nice setup, I'm envious. JeffK
I've got the Garmin G80 approach. I looked at several different launch monitors and the review I read on the G80 summed up what I wanted to use a monitor for, checking how far I hit my drivers and dialing in my wedges. Burton29
I have owned several launch monitors. I started with a Flightscope Xi+. Which was a great unit for practice. However, it left me desiring more in terms of gaming/sim play. When the Mevo+ came out, I was one of the first to buy. It was a great unit, and I went through a lot of up's and downs with it. Unfortunately, it still didn't meet the requirements in terms of sim play. It was great for practice, but lacked the consistency for dialing in your game. Therefore, I made the switch to a Foresight GC2. It is fantastic for sim play. It ticked all the boxes for me in terms of sim play. I like to regularly play on the SGT Tour, which is a fun way to keep the game sharp. The biggest improvement was spin measurement. I'm a big advocate now that camera based launch monitors are the way to go indoors. Radar based are improving, but it's still not there. What's my next step? Probably moving to Uneekor. I really want a ceiling mounted LM to ensure ease of play. Especially with LH/RH players. But I'd still consider their Eye Mini/Eye Mini Lite. The one thing I'm missing with my current launch monitor is up to date foresight software. It only came with the FR1 dongle and I simply use GSPro for everything. I would like something better for tracking club data more easily for fittings. I run a small shop out of my garage and considering entering the fitting market with some smaller brands. I would need to update my Carl's enclosure though. As I believe it lacks the safety required. I use a CCE golf mat which provides great feedback, but hard on the joints. TheSudds
I currently have been using the Garmin Approach R10 since last summer. The portability and ease is great. No problems with Bluetooth connection and it is very fast when connecting with Awesome Golf. Other than spin numbers being slightly off, I’m very pleased with it. I do wish it was a front facing simulator/launch monitor so it can save space behind me. I currently set it up at my house with a projector and impact screen. Check it out below! JackBurtonsPorkchopExpress
I currently have the original Rapsodo. It's portable and easy to set up. It appears to give legit numbers and I like it for my short game. I like trying to call my shot and then see how far it will go. The downside is that it can be finicky to get to work at times. Then I just get angry at it. It also destroys the battery life on my phone. It's an older iPhone. So, it could very well be the phone and not the monitor there. I am debating on selling it on ebay since I've come to the realizations that: 1) I'm not that good and wtf do I need a monitor for, 2) I like to get a number from my range finder and just go for that. Maybe in the future it will be better when my swing is more consistent, but for now I'm not sure I need a device to tell me I hit it off the hosel. Cfhandyman
I currently have the original Rapsodo MLM which is fairly basic but works well. The problem is that during the winter I train extensively with Trackman 4 or GCquad, so I’ve gotten very used of what to expect from the data available. So now I’m looking to replace the Rapsodo, but am conflicted. If it’s <1K, it will be the Rapsodo MLM2Pro, despite the subscription fees. My real preference is the Bushnel/GC3 but realize I have to completely redo my setup in the garage. I don’t have enough space for radar unit due to my workbench and cabinets and I need to replace the net with impact screen, etc. So patiently sitting on the sidelines waiting for the prices to keep dropping. sm1tty300
I use a Mevo+. For practice I like to use the Awesome Golf app. The launch monitor has been a big help in dialing in the irons. I do find the driver not as accurate with distance. Both indoor and outdoor settings when used in their perspective places gives me close distances.
