I don't know if this violates the Morale Codes with regards to religion, but The Bible is my favorite book.  Granted, it's more than a book, and perhaps you were referring to a specific genre of book, not something as unique as The Bible.
Honestly, the subject is too vague for me to answer.  Favorite fiction book?  Favorite non-fiction book?  Favorite biography?  Favorite historical fiction/non-fiction?
Yeah, I can torpedo any thread, depending on my mood and day.  Sorry for the distraction.   😔

    I had a good day today! 47 41 for 88.

Had my very first Eagle on hole #4. Tee shot with my F6 went about 312 yards dead straight. Had 143 left tot he pin and hit my PW laying up on the hill just short of the green and caught a good roll to about 12 feet from the hole. Ended up draining a beauty of a lag putt and proceeded to celebrate. Great Day! 🦅

Royal Hawaiian [emoji259] shot 70. I've played 164 rounds of golf 🏌️ over the past three years. That's 2952 holes. My handicap is a 4.5 at the moment. Today I had my first Eagle 🦅 in more than 3000 holes of golf. Now you know why my screen name is Steddy.

I drove up to the short 310 yard Par 4 slight dog leg right number 17. Scanning the lay of the land I took out driver and 3 wood. I hit the driver first. I middled the driver and watched as the ball seemed to stay in the air for ever. It hit well short of the green, rolled past the cup and settled to within 5 feet of the flag. I then grabbed the 3 wood. Taking a big swing on a full 54 year old shoulder turn I let go a fury seldom seen this side of the Pacific. Launching it high in the air the ball caught a gust of Kona winds riding them until it landed softly in a green side bunker. I walked away from the 17th with an eagle 🦅, a birdie and a big mouse [emoji242] ate the cheese smile.

Next time out I'll shoot 88. Such is life. I'm either Tiger Woods or In the Woods. Not so Steddy after all [emoji56]

Well, I can't really decide what the toughest course I've played is, so I'll just go with the toughest holes. Each of those courses had holes that could be "had", but they also had some of the most diabolical.

The Donald Ross at French Lick, specifically holes 6, 13, & 15. It's not often you come across a course with TWO 250yd par 3s and a nearly 700yd par 5.

Mirimichi, hole #15. I have played this course 3 times and I'm +10 on it; its 453yds of pure hell. Last round there I took a 10 after losing a ball off the tee, then getting stuck in the greenside pot bunker. HATE that hole.

There's a lot of simplistic truth to this. Being married to a practicing registered dietitian has taught me one thing in weight management: know your portions. Portions are not the same as serving sizes! A portion of meat is 3oz, not a 12oz steak at a restaurant. Also, don't go through life restricting yourself from particular foods, just know how and when to consume them. Want to eat pizza? Great! Go ahead! But eat a big salad (go easy on the salad dressing) or a lot of vegetables BEFORE you start eating pizza. Want to eat some ice cream? Go with 1/2 cup of ice cream, not 2 scoops. Want to drink a beer? Sure! Just limit it to a couple here and there. Filling up on healthy foods before divulging into unhealthy foods restrict your intake.
Low Carb, South Beach, Paleo, and yes, even Keto all work towards one goal: caloric deficiency. You either skimp on calories in carbs, fat, etc. There's no magic diet that provides long term results. They are all about immediate results but over time, nothing beats a balanced diet. What's a balanced diet? It's easy math. 1/2 your plate fruits and veggies, 1/4 plate whole grains (pasta, etc), 1/4 protein. Also, use a smaller plate. You'd be surprised how easy it is to eat proper portions when your plate is only 8" instead of 10" or 12".

God gave us kidneys and livers to keep our bodies in check. Drinking apple cider vinegar, juice 'cleanses', alkaline water, etc is a waste of money. None of those have any scientific proof of being beneficial. Drink plenty of water, eat real food (in proper portion control), get plenty of sleep and stop going through life avoiding certain foods.

Fun fact, the couple that started the Whole 30 diet didn't have a shred of nutrition education. So be careful what you follow and what you find on Google.

Finally...finally....finally everything clicked today. Played in our annual charity day tournament with my son and shot -3 68. We started on 18 and I bombed a drive, hit a so so wedge to 30 feet and drained the putt. Made a few routine pars until I lipped out and eagle putt on 5 for a tap in bird (530 yard hole that I went driver - 7 iron to 15 feet). More routine pars until I made a 70 foot bomb on 10 for birdie. Easy birdie on 11 and then back on the par train for a few more. Great drive on 15 and a loose 7 iron into the green led to my only bogie on the card. On the final hole I horseshoed my 10 footer for 67. Overall very solid and lots of confidence heading into the club championship next week.

Shankster, I would check into the Tour edge exotics 11.5* 3 wood. It will be way better from the tee than those mini drivers for you. And you can probably bet the xcg-5 or xcg-6 for 100 or less. To me those models are the hottter faces from the TEE line of clubs.
Did a quick search on the bay, put in tour edge exotics xcg6 and search.

Playing reasonably well. Had my highest high and lowest low in a long long time. Playing in a match, 1 stroke up going to the last. Par 5, drive down the middle,  220 to the pin. Hit a 5 wood, yes folks, a 5 wood for this 61 year old, not a 5 iron. Flushed it. Rolled past the hole and left me a 7 footer for eagle, and cement the match. That was the high. Hit the eagle putt, thought it was in, started walking, 360'ed the cup, spun out and rolled 2 feet from the hole. No biggie, deep[ breaths, make the putt and still  have a nice birdie. My opponents just sunk their birdie putt. Make mine and win the match. Feel great, no sweat, go through the routine like always, one look, two looks, tap and watch it. I made it. Nope, hits the inside edge and spins out. Stood in total dis-belief, silence, want to do about 100 nasty things. Re-gain my composure, look at my partner and best friend. He shrugs. Shake hands and walk off a little stunned. That was the low. Oh well, I guess that's golf, still hit 2 good shots, been playing well and not going to let 2 lip outs ruin that.

I posted two days ago about breaking 100 for the first time at my club, which happened about a month or so ago.  Well I am happy to be writing again about breaking another milestone.

I mentioned in my previous post that 98 was my lowest round ever at my club, but I had posted slightly lower scores at easy Muni courses, but I don't think I have ever broken 95.  Well yesterday, on the 4th of July, I had the round of my life.

I was playing in my normal weekend group, which is typically 20-30 people playing in groups with a 2 or 3 best ball format, and there was a flag tournament at the club as well.  I started off with a par on the first hole, which is usually a tough hole for me, so I was riding high.  However, I immediately pulled the next tee shot left in the water on the par 3.  Hit another ball from the tee and hit it right this time, landed about 20 yards short of the green and chipped up, then hit a 15ft putt to "salvage" double bogey.  I tried to quickly forget about that hole and play my round.  From there I hit the ball pretty well and knew I was playing better than average, but tried not to pay attention to the total score.

I finished the front 9 without any more big numbers and was ecstatic when I figured out I had shot a 42, but I knew the tougher back 9 awaited, so I tried not to let the moment get away from me.  The back 9 was a little more of a roller coaster ride, had a couple more doubles on the back, but I was able to chip in on a par 5 for birdie.  This was the first chip in I have ever had, so that felt pretty good as well.

Unfortunately, I was starting to get a little nervous over some putts on 15, 16, 17 and 3 putted 2 out of the 3 holes thanks to pushing the ball.  Luckily there is a solution when you start getting shaky on your putts, and that is to not putt! So I went on to 18 and after a great tee shot and poor second shot, I decided I needed to just skip putting on this hole and I should hole out for birdie on a 40 yard pitch shot.  After it was all said and done I shot a 84.  A full 14 strokes better then my previous best.

Still not sure if I am conscious or not.

First time I broke 100 was in 4th grade. Played at soldier hollow in Utah with my dad and grandpa, and was +25 going into 18 of the gold course, and I pared the hole for a 97.

The first time I broke 90 was in 7th grade at carne golf links in Ireland. I was with my dad and had shot 43 on the front side, and came into 18 at +4. I birdied the last hole for an 82.

My first time breaking 80 was this year, my freshman year of high school. I played at castle oaks golf course in the first high school tournament I'd played in, and I shot a 37 on the front nine, and was was plus 3 going in to the last three holes of the day. I had three birdies in a row for my best nine ever, my longest birdie streak, the most birdies in a round, and my lowest 18 hole score of a 73.

Hopefully I'll break par sometime soon, just need to drop an average 5 strokes.
