Sluggo42
Went to Tour Golf in Agoura Hills and worked with Alton Woodward on the trackmaster. Hit all the new latest and greatest. Being sure the SLDR was going to win, I had already primed the wife for an expensive day. I was also hoping the i25 showed well. After an hour of hitting a multitude of everything the winner was the big Bertha! Who would have figured that! It barely beat the 2ond place club, by 3 yards. The Ping. My ping i20.... So, he told me that he didn't think $400 was worth 3 yards, and, since the fitting didn't come up with a good upgrade, he also waived the fitting fee. Talk about a cool dude! So, at this point I started feeling guilty and asked about wedges as mine are not the best on th planet. So he said I could get a wedge fitting instead, and buy a new set of wedges for a similar cost of a new driver. So, it seems my old i20 is still a beast! Pretty happy about that, and better yet, a new set of wedgies is in the forecast too! Vokie, Cleveland, callaway, mizzie?. .... Hmmmm? SeeRed
Very cool. Sounds like a great day. In spite of all of my burbling over the new i25, I have no intention of replacing my i20 any time soon! Have fun with the wedge fitting. whiskey golf
As nice as it is to hear that you don't need a replacement driver, it's a bit of a bummer not go get one of the newest drivers this year. But with that said, you will get a wedge fitting and new wedges so you will still be getting new equipment even if it isn't a driver.
BIG STU
I don't know the guy but that is the way to do business. Golf needs more people like that. But glad to know that your old driver will suffice. New wedges will probably help your game tremendously. Get what is eye appealing to you and feels good to you and go from there. Don't worry about the brand and hype I've had the same experience at 2ndSwing here. It's nice that there are still companies out there that are actually trying to get golfers the best equipment, rather than the newest equipment. jaxbeachpackerfan
Same thing happened with me 3+ years ago at the Tour Academy at TPC Sawgrass. Avery Reed, then of Fusion Golf, now somewhere else, fit me for both my irons and driver. Got new R9 Tmade irons custom fit. Did the Driver fitting and Avery said that I had lucked out with my R7 Driver with a totally stock shaft. Said it fit me perfectly, that there wasn't really anything that he could put me in then that would have been appreciably better.
