TheWahoo
As I noted in previous postings, I will be a Media Center volunteer at the upcoming National Tournament to be held at the TPC Potomac. Yesterday, I received an e-mail stating that Quicken Loans has agreed to sponsor this year's tournament, but the agreement is only for this year. While Tiger Woods has stated his intention to play, this agreement also means that Rickie Fowler will play. This will be my first experience working the media center so I am not exactly sure what my duties will be. However, I was required to watch a video on cart safety because apparently media center duties includes shuttling people around the course. This is a duty that I hadn't anticipated, but one I imagine I will like. I have no idea whom I may be shuttling; I am assuming it will be media people and maybe just maybe some players. Several years ago, I shuttled players on the Senior tour and it was a great and enjoyable experience and can only hope to have a similar opportunity at this event. Since the Quicken's Loans agreement is only for this year, I'm not sure of the Tournament's future, so hopefully I can make hay while the sun shines. Not sure yet how many days I'll be out there. it would be nice to do a live spot from there, but it's a busy week here at the course so that may not happen. But yes, your shuttling duties will be getting media members out to certain remote areas of the course when they request it. Getting players where they need to be to fulfill media obligations, such as from the scoring tent to the media center, or from the media center back to the locker room...etc Also keeping the media center clean and organized, and most importantly fully stocked with COLD beverages The Tour communications staff will be preparing a lot of media notes throughout the day, that need to be distributed in the media center and at times to certain areas of the course. I think you'll enjoy it. Hopefully I'll run into you during the week, once you get your schedule let me know. TheWahoo
That is really cool! I've never though about volunteering for a tournament Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk I totally recommend volunteering for a pro tournament, it is a lot of fun being inside the ropes, so to speak. I have volunteered for all of the professional tours, actually got to be a committee chair for a web.com event. As cnosil noted there is a fee that is basically the purchase of a tournament shirt and hat along with some perk such as meal tickets, access to the volunteer tent and a volunteer party. While not a perk at this tournament, on the other tours, as a volunteer I got a free round of golf at the tournament venue. Perhaps, if you have any interest, it is my understanding that volunteers are still being solicited for this tournament, the tournament site is nationalgolftournament.com. Like I noted previously, since Quicken Loans only committed for this year, I am not sure what the future holds. I understand that Quicken has suggested that they want to move to a locale close to their corporate offices. jb0330

Golfspy_CG2
It's very tentative now and no date set, but possibly in the next two weeks or so, I could be down in Richmond at one of our courses helping out for a couple days, if so I'd love to get out with any of the locals. cnosil 1 Quote G430 Max 10K TSiR1 15.0 Aldlia Ascent 60g TSR2 18.0 PX Aldila Ascent 6og TSi1 20 Aldila Ascent Shafts R T350 5-GW SteelFiber I80 SM10 48F/54M and58K S159 48S/52S/56W/60B Select 5.5 Flowback 35" ProV1 Play number
cnosil
When did you go out? We teed off around 1:30 and it was dead. Probably because all of the sane people played early to stay out of the heat We teed off at 10:50, so we were on the course at the same time, finished at 4.
