jengland65
Hello...I recently bought new Mizuno JPX 921 Hot Metals, but I can't hit the lower irons as well as my older clubs. It seems like I hit it fat and can't get a higher ball flight. These clubs are 2-3 degrees less than my old clubs. Would you recommend getting the lofts adjusted? Anybody have similar situations? Thanks. Quote Link to comment

Once you started hitting the ball first consistently then look at launch windows, descent angle and spin, then make an assessment on whether they need to be adjusted or not. cnosil, TR1PTIK and RickyBobby_PR 3 Quote Stealth 2+ 9 (Diamana PD 60 S 45") Stealth 2+ 15 (Diamana PD 70 S 43") G425 19 (Raijin 2.0 85x) G425 22 (Raijin 2.0 85x) ZX7 5-9 (KBS C Taper S) Vokey SM9 45 10 F (KBS 610) Vokey SM9 49 08 F (KBS 610) Vokey SM9 55 08 M (KBS 610) Vokey SM9 59 04 T (KBS 610) Spider GT Splitback 34" ProV1 #23 Twitter @THEZIPR23 "One thing Golf has taught me, is that my muscles have no memory." Pandaman
Could it just be as simple as getting used to something a bit different? I had this (with my 5 iron in particular) when I got new clubs a couple of years back. Quote Link to comment
hckymeyer
Personally I'd be looking at the length, lie angles and swing weight before adjusting any loft. Doesn't matter what loft you have on a club if you hitting turf and not the ball. TR1PTIK
I think the first three responses sum it up pretty nicely. If you're not making good contact with the ball and chunking it, loft isn't going to help you. You say you recently bought the irons, but were you fit for them? If not, go see a fitter or golf professional. If so, take them back to the place you were fit and explain to them what's going on. See if they'll work with you to sort out the issue. I'd expect most places would be happy to help you unless they think generating unhappy customers and negative reviews is a good business model. russtopherb
Just sounds like an adjustment period. Different length shafts, different sole interaction, even how you’re setting up looking down at these vs your old irons can all make a slight difference.
