golfmule
I can't even remember each set I owned and played. I was a custom club maker for over 30 years and I purposely changed sets of irons every 2 years, unless someone wanted to buy the set I was currently using (which happened quite often). I know it was between 20-25 but could have been more. Since I quit building clubs in 2018 I've owned 3 sets. I lost one season to injury or it would likely have been 4. Quote Link to comment
RoyF
I've only had 3 sets in 50 years (not counting my starter set of only odd irons). However, I'm 68 and thinking of getting a set of hybrid irons due to a bad wrist, hoping to reduce ground impact. Quote Link to comment
Donn lost in San Diego
Only three yes 3 sets since I got back into golf in 1994. A set of fitted Brother irons (knock off original Big Bertha), til 2017, then I got a set of half price Nike Vapor Fly when they quit the golf club biz. Only had them about 2 years when I graduated to a fitting of Ping I 500s. I could easily keep these Pings a long time. And never more than 3 putters at a time. Now I have just 1, my Odyssey "R" Ball. I used to buy a lot Goodwill Store stuff to give away to high schools, and I would hit them on the range first then donate. Good way to learn. And to "give back". I do have 3 extra 3 woods that I worked with on the range for the last 3 years but am ready to give away. Tom the Golf Nut
I sure hate to put this in writing but I'm at around 12 sets. But when you look at it over 35 years of playing it averages a set every three years which isn't that bad. sirchunksalot and TJ Hall 2 Quote Driver, TSi 1 S Flex 3 wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 5 wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 7 Wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 5 Hybrid King Tec MMT R Flex Irons, Tour UST Recoil 95 R Flex (6 - Gap) Wedges, Snakebite KBS Hi- Rev2.0 54* & 60* Agera 35" Ultralight 14-way Cart Bag Link to comment
RCGolf
Since 2000 when I started playing, I am around 40-50 sets. But that has cooled off in the last few years, I gamed the 714 AP-2’s on/off until last year when I built a 718 AP2/718T-MB set that I don’t see myself replacing anytime soon. Especially with the price of a new set of Titleist irons these days. Definitely won’t be dropping the 699.99 on the GT. Golf2Much
Doing a quick mental inventory of clubs I've had over the years (starting with my used Sam Snead starter set with a driver, fairway wood and odd irons): 10 sets of irons (mostly Pings and Callaways with an Adams snuck in) At least 12 drivers (mostly Pings, Callaways). That doesn't include some duplicates I purchased to play with lofts and shafts. Also, that I've had two drivers taken out of service and replaced due to cracks on the hostel. At least 13 fairway woods and hybrids (mostly Ping, Callaway, Mizuno, Adams) At least 10 wedges (mostly Pings, Edison) At least 20 plus putters (Pings, Odysseys, Brainstorm Happy putter, Cure, Evnroll, L.A.B Golf, Never Compromise, Zebra, etc not in that order). Right now in my shed, I have about eight (waiting for my Directed Force 2.1 to fail so they can step in). The only thing for certain, is there will likely be more. sirchunksalot and Syks7 2 Quote Ping G430 Max driver 10.5 degrees with an Alta Quick45 gram senior shaft Callaway Epic 3 wood, Project X Evenflow Green 45 gram senior shaft Callaway GBB Epic Heavenwood, with a Mitsubishi Diamana 50 gram senior shaft Ping G 20.5 degree 7 wood, with a stock Alta 65 gram senior shaft Ping G 26 degree hybrid, stock Alta 65 gram senior shaft Callaway Paradym X irons, 7-AW with Aldila Ascent Blue 50 graphite shafts Edison wedges: 50, 55 and 60 degree, KBS Tour Graphite A flex shafts Putters: L.A.B. Syks7
I've never written this down and it's a little eye opening/comical to see. I've been playing since 2009 -- 15 years or so. Most of the activity is int he last 4 years, so hopefully I'm finally settled. Thank god I mostly buy used (or new from a couple gens back) or I wouldn't have a house. There's lots of combos, but I'll base total number of bags based on the sets of irons. 7 total bags with variance in wedges, putters, woods, hybrids, and driver.
