Popular Post arodrig29
I just pulled the trigger on a set of brand new fit Gen 6 P irons. Until the fitting with PXG, I had only been fit for a driver and putter. What a great experience this was with PXG!! The fitter took his time to answer my abundance of questions. He was quick to admit my driver and putter were pretty much perfect for me and didn’t try to upsell me. There was one slight problem. It turns out I was fit into a shaft that was an upcharge. Usually, that wouldn’t be too much of an issue. However, just a few months ago I was “fitted” by the fine folks at GG for a set of Srixon ZX-4 mkii. Truth be told, the ZX-4 is a great iron for the right golfer. Problem is, I am not that golfer. I play a draw which drops spin and keeps peak height rather low. Needless to say, strong lofts and a lot of offset doesn’t suit me very well. But I digress, I was fitted for the Steelfiber 70i shafts, but at an additional $50 a club, and the expense of Srixon irons now worth half the price on the resell market (see above for explanation), I simply couldn’t afford them. The PXG team went above and beyond to put me into the MMT shaft at the same weight, but stepped them a bit firmer. This puts the MMT at a very similar torque value (per PXG fitter). I was also fitted into a (2) degree weaker loft to help with peak height. All in all, it has been a great experience this far. I will definitely be following up with pics, Rapsodo data and comments once I get them in hand. More to come! Rob Person
Awesome! Love that they were understanding enough to not insist on the specific shaft upcharges. Can't wait to hear how they work out! With the different shafts they ended up fitting you for, did the numbers coincide with the upcharged ones? arodrig29 1 Quote WITB-Foremost 551's - 3w, 5w, 5-SW (circa 1998), Top Flite 460cc Driver, Adam's 7w, Warrior GW and 60⁰, Odyssey AI-One DB putter. jazz15c
Enjoy! I got fitted mid-February (also for Gen6 P's) and have used mine for 4/5 rounds now, all of which have been in the 70's, with SG approach gaining massively versus my old, non-fitted set (Ping G410's). The fitting experience was outstanding, nothing was too much trouble and no question no matter how inane/trivial was deemed stupid. arodrig29
Okay, so the hybrid came in and it’s pretty awesome. I was fit into the Tensei Blue shaft and the 22 degree hybrid takes the place of the 4 iron. As expected it top notch from PXG. They even included a wrench which is something many manufacturers aren’t doing these days. Something I didn’t even know was a thing until today was the magnet on the head cover. You can magnetize it to the cart and it will be waiting for you after you shot. Pretty brilliant if you ask me. Irons come in tomorrow, box opening will follow as well. arodrig29
I was finally able to get the new clubs out on course. Have so much to break down. Initially, they feel incredibly different than the Srixons. Not better, but not worse, just…different. The MMT shaft, even though it was stepped to be stiffer still feels dramatically whipper that the steel KBS lite shafts I was playing before. That being said, the MMT feel light years lighter than the KBS. The weaker lofts of the Gen 6 P irons (plus the added 2 degrees weaker I was fit in) make the ball fly incredibly high. Which is helping with holding greens and increasing spin. But, they definitely do not fly any where nearly as far. being this is my first time out, I am going to reserve any more judgement until I can get used to the timing. more to come. BreakfastBall15
I have almost a full bag of PXG (benched the putter) and they make great clubs throughout the bag. Fairways and hybrids are very underrated. Their fitting process is great. I’ve gone to my fitter 3 times and he’s never pushed an up charge shaft but the 2 most recent times I asked to try them. Went with one for the driver but the irons he said it would be waisting money to upgrade based on the numbers (didn’t get the irons but pxg will always be my first stop because of this fitter) Subdiver1, TJ Hall, arodrig29 and 1 other 3 1 Quote Driver: PXG Black Ops, Ventus Blue 6X Fairways: PXG 0311 XF Gen 5 3 and 5 wood, Project X Riptide CB 6.0 Hybrid: PXG 0311 XF Gen 5 22 degree, Project X Riptide 6.0 Irons: PXG 0311P Gen 5 5-PW, Project X LS 6.5 Wedges: PXG SG2 50, 56(55), Modus 125 Wedge; PXG SG 2 60, KBS 130 Wedge Putter: TaylorMade Spider GT Red SB Ball: Maxfli Tour S MGS Star Grip Review: https://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/63328-star-grips-2024-forum-review/

I love the sugar daddy’s that came in the full bag deal but will be replacing them at the end of this season. Considering I can get a full set of DTC or the 3X wedges for or near the price of 1 SG it’s a no brainier to go that route Erin B, Javs and arodrig29 3 Quote Driver: PXG Black Ops, Ventus Blue 6X Fairways: PXG 0311 XF Gen 5 3 and 5 wood, Project X Riptide CB 6.0 Hybrid: PXG 0311 XF Gen 5 22 degree, Project X Riptide 6.0 Irons: PXG 0311P Gen 5 5-PW, Project X LS 6.5 Wedges: PXG SG2 50, 56(55), Modus 125 Wedge; PXG SG 2 60, KBS 130 Wedge Putter: TaylorMade Spider GT Red SB Ball: Maxfli Tour S MGS Star Grip Review: https://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/63328-star-grips-2024-forum-review/

Considering I can get a full set of DTC or the 3X wedges for or near the price of 1 SG it’s a no brainier to go that route I am thinking about buying new ones. Mine are two years old and are good, but I have a gap between my pitching wedge and 52. Like a 40 yard gap. I’m thinking of getting a 48 wedge if I don’t buy three new ones. That will fill some of the gap. Javs and arodrig29 2 Quote I could play golf every day and learn something new each time.
