Pete Player
No update from las season, played the Callaway Mavrik sub zero for a couple seasons now. Unfortunately the face cracked at the top of sweet spot and now gaming my next to last ”tour truck” Callaway Big Bertha 816 Alpha . Luckily enough the sleeve match and I could just change the Px Hzrdus smoke yellow 75 6.0 on cause it had been working really good with the Mavrik. The Alpha came with Diamana Blue S+70 Tx. That was a really good combo, but missing the sweet spot just a touch kicked hard on my wrists. Now with the hzrdus the Alpha seems to be really solid, but obviously the pop of the Mavrik had been gone for some time now, cause the head started sounding like old Pings with a tinging note sometime early this season. Next up will be Krank Golf Formula Fire Pro. Thinking of using the smoke yellow on that too, but the sleeve is probably gonna be different from Callaway’s. Open to ideas, which shafts could be a good fit or replacement, when assemblying the Krank. Game swing is around 110-115 mph, preferred loft for my swing is 9-10° and I tend to deloft and lower the spin loft by 2° compared to the nominal loft. TJ Hall 1 Quote If there is a risk, take it! AaronD
I'm stickin with my d-river from last year. the pxg 0211. I firmly believe it's one of the best value drivers when purchasing new. I driver the ball pretty far(280-290 on good strikes) and some changes I made to the swing last year has made everything a lot straighter. Truely a joy to see some companies doing things to actually drive the price of new clubs down. The branding and marketing is obnoxious and gimmicky, but man they make some good clubs. I too picked up a PXG 0211 driver and 3-hybrid last fall after gaming my 0211 XCOR2 irons for the summer. I have enjoyed the PXG irons and thought I'd try the driver. It's a decent driver and I can hit the ball about as far as my main driver (Ping g430 max), although my ping is definitely more forgiving and a better fairway finder. However, for the price of the 0211 series of clubs I have to give a big shout out to PXG. They have done an awesome job of producing quality clubs at a lower price point. zengineer
I have Callaway Rogue ST Max D and Paradym X, both 10.5 degree, both set at Neutral & +1, both Ventus Velocore Red but the former a 6-R and the latter a 6-S. I honestly consider the heads interchangeable performance-wise but the shafts are different enough in weight that I can't just swap back and forth without throwing swingweight 3 points in one direction or another. Not sure if that's normal or maybe one has a tip weight or something. Regardless, I'm still sorting out what the right flex is for me. Heading to the range later today with both sorted out to D-3. If it's a tie, I will move one to the backup spare bag and if there's a clear winner the loser will be gone.

Personally I am a huge fan of Bob Parsons and PXG. There are a number of reasons for my view of him and his company. First, he came from nothing and is a self made man. Second he served his country honorably as a Marine and was wounded in action. He never forgot where he came from and has always given back. Especially in the PXG Hero’s Program. When I came back from Iraq after getting wounded, PXG gave me a free full bag fitting and huge discount on the clubs. Getting back into golf helped me a lot at the time. Plus he supports many other veteran and first responder programs. Lastly, he is a risk taker. He made Go Daddy successful with his outrageous Super Bowl ad campaign. He carried that in your face marketing forward with PXG. It’s like the irritating song in a commercial that everyone remembers. His marking and brands are remembered. I think he and his company are great American stories. Some may disagree, but I am a fan. Some of his story is in the following article: https://www.businessofbusiness.com/amp/articles/racy-ads-and-refusing-to-set-goals-how-godaddy-founder-bob-parsons-built-his-business-empire/ Quote Play like a champion today! KOG
Something you dont see too often in USA is Yamaha clubs. I bought a yamaha 3 wood and it became my fav 3 wood knocking the exotics out of my bag which has lasted 6 years in there... the longest time any club lasted in my bag. The Yamaha is just so effortless to hit. So I grabbed the driver to match after my recently purchased Exotics XJ1 weight flew off at some tee box. Some very impressive specs on this driver. The MOI is higher than the Ping 10k and damn near the limit at 5760 g cm2. Came with a new Diamana ZF50 stiff and arrived in 2 days from Golf Partner USA on ebay. Best shaft Ive used on a driver for me. I love this driver. So forgiving and longer than the Ping G425. The sound and feel is top notch. My accuracy has improved greatly since usinthis driver and I also play a 3 and 7 wood yamaha RMX and RMX VD since I like this club so much. goaliedad30
Callaway AI Smoke MAX. I'm not one for marketing hype, but in my experience (about 3 months so far) with this driver, the "sweet spots all over the face" is actually real. Center of face, it's 230-250, high, with a nice draw. Heel and toe misses are 220-225, and in the fairway. If I'm not in the fairway, it's because I either overcooked the draw, or hit a dead block. It's not way longer than my old TM Stealth, but the misses are HUGELY better. Wib081 and TJ Hall

NJ Teacher
A year ago I demoed the Wilson Dynapower Carbon driver and hit it well with optimal launch angle, ball speed and spin numbers. When I saw that my local shop was selling it for $499 I couldn’t bring myself to buy it. I decided that when the price came down, I’d pick one up. When I saw that the price had dropped to $299, I couldn’t buy it fast enough. After receiving it I took my Rapsodo MLM2 Pro to the driving range to got it dialed in. Two days ago I took it to the course for a charity outing and it performed great. Best driver I have ever had! taylorlll
I was fitted for a callaway AI smoke triple diamond driver. The head is 10.5 degree, shaft is project x denali blue 60g stiff and grip is golf pride with +2 wrap. I've had it for 2 weeks and played 6 rounds. The performance is fantastic, it is very forgiving, I can work it for a slight fade or draw. It is long, I'm averaging 260+, that's a 15+ yard gain. A little about me, I'm 70 years old, 5'10", 200 pounds with a 3 handicap. I play a 100+ rounds a year. My old driver was a callaway rogue 10.5 stiff. GforeNick
Was swinging an TM M6 regular flex to start the year that I had bought used 5+ years ago to start the year. This year I decided to treat myself with a driver fitting and a new big stick! Driving has always been one of my biggest strengths, growing up playing hockey gave me a great base to get a lot of club head speed. I left the fitting in a 65g x-stiff tensai white on an AI smoke Triple Diamond. I was bit concerned being a 20+ handicap but went with it as I had the pga tour superstore 90 day performance guarantee behind me. i played this for about 85 days with pretty mixed results before heading back in for another fitting. This time I landed in the qi10max with a 65g xstiff tensei black shaft. The results were fairly similar for distance even having the qi10 top the triple diamond aft the high end, so the decision was pretty easy. ive been pleased with results slowly but surely hitting more fairways. I plan to have this club for a while or until the newest marketing catches my eyes in a few years! Bortery
I am sticking with my Ping g425 max. I am just getting back into the game. I have other clubs/technology to stick in my bag first. But even with that said, I’m not one to go out and swap/buy new clubs. If I was making a living with them, then maybe. But at that point I would have sponsors giving me the newest to play with. So for now and probably for a while, I’m sticking with the G425. It has not let me down in my poor playing yet. Happy Golfing!! Wib081 1 Quote I am a golfer that is getting back into the game.
