It’s Time to Buzz The Tower

My profile has said that my strength is my short game since it was created on this wonderful site.

After much thought, it’s time to update.  My strength is off the tee now.  Something I used to dread.

Anyone else due for an update?!

I only dream of these days.

It’s a work in progress, and it’s gotten better, but me and driver are always fighting. Fingers crossed this is the year I figure it out.

I still don’t know when to use a different club.  I can generally hit the fairway or pretty close now.  Something that was a wishful thinking not long ago.  But I still can get myself in trouble by not playing strategic golf.  I’m working on it, but I go straight from the driver to the 2 iron.  Nothing in between.  Probably should fill that with something.

I invested in a 2 iron towards the end of last season and I plan on seeing what that can do for me this year, as I didn't get to play it a ton with it. At the moment, if I absolutely need to hit a fairway, I'm pulling out my 3w or 4 crossover. I feel like every time I pull out driver, it's a roll of the dice as to what happens.

Just curious, what 2 iron are you rocking?

I had to change mine once I got shotscope. I thought the tee was my worst, turns out I’m even worse at everything else

Based on my last few rounds there’s definitely no change for me. My strength has been driving since I can remember. My weakness is putting or more specifically, long putts. I feel more comfortable with a 40ft chip than a 40ft putt!

Good question - with the intro of my Paradym, my strength has definitely shifted to the tee box. Unfortunately, my Scotty has let me down a lot recently, so I’ve basically flipped (it must know I’ve been looking at new putters to replace it ).

Now that you mention it, my driving game has improved a lot since last year. Will wait to see my Shot Scope stats in a couple months to see how my strokes gained fares across all the different areas.

Got to play outside again yesterday at a semi nice course. Problem im noticing this year is the same. Putting.. if I could eliminate 3 putts Id be happy

My issue remains driving off the tee.  Will see if works better this year.  But not holding my breath.  Needs lots of work.

Putting has been my strength for the last couple of years but after looking at my ShotScope data it seems like it's moved to being tee shots. Granted, it's a small sample size of 4 rounds and I don't quite think that's enough to make an educated statement. 

Three of the four rounds were last year with the Cobra Agera as my primary putter and I've had one this year switching back to the Stroke Lab Odyssey and it moved back to putting as my strength.

Funny enough in the same boat...

For years could not get off the tee with any regularity and when I did it was regularly kinda not good... So the only way I played in the 90s was by finishing out without wasting too many strokes, ie short game.

Well this season that's flip-flopped!

I’m about to play in a couple hours so claiming my driving has improved would surely be hubris. Much like Icarus the golf gods will remind of the melting point of glue (the big right miss).

That being said, my driving is much improved.
