  1. At the range yesterday I decided to try and play around with the weight sliders on the TM M5.

I've never had a driver with adjustable weight tracks, I went from an RBZ to a ST-190 both with 1 fixed weight at the back.

I was very surprised at not only how different the ball flights were, but the sound of the driver changed completely between settings.

With the weights all the way at the back and pushed out to the corners in it's most forgiving setting, the driver has a very appealing THWACK crunchy sound that I really really like.

I tried moving the weights right up close to the face in the middle of the track to put it in it's most unforgiving low spin setting, and oh boy did I ever hate that.

The driver not only felt worse, and produced undesirable and unpredictable ball flights, but it sounded awful.. very very tinny sounding.

I played around with a couple of other settings, but I found it to sound and feel it's best in the most forgiving setting.

I was genuinely surprised and how different the driver felt, worked, and sounded in different settings.

I agree here.  I was really looking forward to how my Albatross (red, white, and blue) ferrules would look on my Toura Build, but as soon as I saw the dark bluing that @azstu324 did with the black, white, and silver banded ferrules, I had a little "builder's remorse" in not going w/ something different....that has grown a little more as the clubs have started to get a little rusty as I'm not sure the pure raw finish goes with those:  https://photos.app.goo.gl/T6xHZoNYNaQrNVRC8...

However, we'll see how that goes long term.  One thing I know is that the regular, non-tour issue DG X100 shafts are NOT as consistently weighted as the Tour Issue versions.  If I decide the Toura Irons are staying in the bag permanently, I'll very likely do a pull and rebuild them with Tour Issue X100s I procure on my own.  I'm finding little inconsistencies in the distance gapping, even with the lofts and lies being perfectly set where they should be and ball speeds being where they should be on multiple launch monitors.  That might open up the rabbit hole of changing ferrules, buying MORE of the ZGRIP Plus2s to put on another set of shafts, etc. that might make my wife want to beat me with a golf club, but I'm sure I'd deserve it somewhat at that point...

As I mentioned I think the coloured ferrules suite black shafted clubs more than chrome.

A quick and dirty (and most importantly wife approved/cheap) method I use to change the look of existing clubs is to use vinyl wrap.

It's cheap, lightweight, removable, and if done right, looks awesome. I'm really big on thinking that you have to like the look of what you are playing with, but changing shafts, ferrules, grips on a whim just because of the looks is time consuming, and not cheap.

I'm hoping one day to have the time and money to play around building sets, play a few rounds, sell them off, wash, rinse, repeat.

For now, while I'm pinching pennies, the vinyl wrap is my go too.

I've wrapped all my putter shafts Black, I have my wedges wrapped in a light Blue colour, and I have my irons wrapped White, and the ferrules wrapped in the same Blue as my wedge shafts.

It was on clearance at PGATSS figured for 2.5 hours of putting practice it was the least I could do for them.  They were $20 each, but they only had the straights.  I got the 140.  You should check the website, they were the same price online when. I looked.

If you blow it on with a compressor like I did you can take it right off if you want to change putters. So cool, I am done with double sided tape and solvent.

Funny enough, it is blown on, I just don't have another home for it right now. But it should be easy to remove when it's ready for greener pastures.

I'll never tape on another putter grip, it's pointless with swing speeds at 6 mph, but I'm too nervous not to tape full swing clubs. I'd be worried about them twisting more than slipping off, but I don't really want to find out how far my actual 7 iron goes...

  4. Third round of the season so far yesterday. 9 holes with the wife and daughter. It was my daughter's first time on a real course. She had a blast riding around in the cart, and hit a few putts here and there. I hit a worldly drive on the 2nd hole, about 360y from the Blue tee's. It's an elevated tee box, so I got a few extra yards of carry about 285 that left me with a nice semi rough fluffy lie. Hit a 50y chip with my new Zipcore 56º to about 15 inches and drained the bird. First time hitting the M5 driver on course too, and I have to say, it did not disappoint.

So I've been playing Golf Pride Tour Wrap grips for a long time, back to when they first came out. I recently overhauled my bag with a Qi10, Titleist T350 irons, and some Vokey wedges. None of these had grips that I liked, so I decided to try the Super Stroke Traxion wraps and I actually prefer these to the Golf Pride wraps. More cushion and just feel better overall.

I love the Tour Wraps, I have them in White on my set of CB2 irons, and a Black one on my 5w.

The only thing is they are not easy to hold onto if your hands are really sweaty 🫸💦

  6. I have an older co-worker who I golf with a lot.

He's got an older package set of Ram Accubar irons and G-Force woods.

2 seasons ago I sold him a set of RocketBladez irons, but he still has his old woods.

I've had him hit some of my newer drivers, but he just really gets along with his Ram, and he's very, let's say, "quirky" with his clubs.

Example, he won't hit his 9 iron because he hit it badly a couple of times, and in his head he just can't hit that club now, hence the preference to his driver.

The grips on his clubs were turning shiny and slippery, so I re-gripped his Dr, 3w, 5w and hybrid.

The paint on the woods was chipping really bad, and I had some paint lying around, so I touched up his Dr and Hybrid.

Not sure if I will do the 3w & 5w yet, but the 2 I did paint turned out pretty good.

I just pained his Dr semi-gloss black and added a thin strip of carbon at to the front lip, and painted his Hybrid a metallic flake silver.

They turned out nice, but I'm not putting too much effort, he refuses to use headcovers so these will probably be all banged up by the end of the season.

This is the Hybrid before, I don't have a before pic of the Dr, but it looked pretty much the same:

That’s correct. It’s more accurate and easier to manipulate right/left than a driver while maintaining better distance than 3W. I can only hit a draw with 3W and my carry is 250ish. With the mini I’m sitting at 270 carry and able to move it both ways. I have a high swing speed so driver really doesn’t suit every hole and every course well for me so I end up hitting 3/4i off the tee a lot. Hopefully this allows me more opportunities to have a wedge into a par 4.

This is for you @RaRa Golf! The side by side photo comparison (I may post some number comparison later on as well for those interested- I can tell you the carry numbers aren’t close haha):

The way the crown spills over onto the face of the original Burner is so aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It looks like it's made out of glass or something.

Great mail day today! My TaylorMade BRNI Mini Copper that I was fit for last week came in and I already went to the range to hit it! I love this club and can’t wait to see how it helps my game on the course!

So far, my dispersion laterally is half that of my driver and I’m still carrying 270 on average and getting another 10-20 yards of roll. At that clip my driver may end up all the way out of my bag!IMG_1661.jpeg.8c01ceba320f6463c655e4c6d897c533.jpegIMG_1659.jpeg.35cd53f69f323e034b784fc50d2eb71b.jpegIMG_1662.jpeg.aaac9fd1add0617edbd648c77c0c0f61.jpegIMG_1663.jpeg.4d20c4b06b13f41a78854f47a6d9af26.jpegIMG_1660.jpeg.a5a1a0e8b66abadd4a10e84f08a497f0.jpeg

After looking at some of your builds, I have come to the conclusion that I am not a fan of super colourful, mismatching ferrules.

Which is a surprise to me, because that's exactly what I though I would want if I built a set, I thought the idea of each iron having it's own unique ferrule would be a neat idea.

I do like the colourful ones, but only when they are all uniform, and I'm not a fan of how they look on shiny chrome shafts and heads.

The really colourful ones need to be on darker shafts/heads IMO.

I'm also not a fan of really tall ferrules, they kind of look clumsy, again IMO, and again something that surprised me as I thought I liked the tall colourful ones.

I'm realizing that ferrules look WAY different off the clubs than how they look on the clubs.

Keep posting, I'm learning things about myself through your builds haha

Team center shaft! @RaRa Golf and @johngschulz - have you guys used center shafted putters before? I tried one and I couldn't find a lot of consistency out of it but those look sweet.

No first center shafted putter I've tried.

I went from thinking I liked the look of a center shaft, to actually hating it, to then falling in love with it... YMMV for sure.

I love a soft insert like the White Hot's offer, and the Ping has a slightly clickier/harder feel off the face, but I can't argue with the roll.

The more I use it, the more I like it.
