  1. I have the Spornia Mini (5x5 + top guard) and the Rukket Hack Net as my tear down units. Both have held up well but would probably recommend the larger of both:

    7x7 spornia: https://spornia.com/collections/golf-hitting-net/products/spg-7-golf-practice-net

Ruckket SPDR  or the Hack Pro with their new SPDR Steel Netting: https://www.rukket.com/collections/golf?sort_by=manual&filter.p.m.custom.category=Hitting+Nets&filter.v.price.gte=&filter.v.price.lte=

I recommend going larger on the Ruckket just because with the standard Hack model, the middle of it sags down and makes me worry a little about my wedges. With the other two, the top is a bit more tight so you don't loose as much angle.

Spornia has a larger net as well, but I will say even my small 5ft net leans a bit and would personally be concered that the 8ft one would just amplify the issue too much. There is a test that went on not that long ago on this forum though that may have better details about it.

  2. Other than my putter, my 3 wood is the oldest club in my bag. I have the Gen 1 Taylormade M1...Granted it is not the oldest thing in the world, and still works OK for my current swing...BUT, a few months ago I was adjusting the weights in the bottom and a sliver of metal came off of it...Try as I might I was not able to determine where that little sliver came from. Sadly I have been injured a lot since then and have only palyed once, but i didn't notice anything else falling off of it...

That said, when things start to fall off, probably best to start looking for something new. So my goal is to buy a new 3wood by the end of the year (probably sooner than later provided I manage to find some clubs to test). Right now I have on my wish list to try the Titleist TSR2 & 3, the Ping G430, the stealth 2, and the Cobra Aerojet.

  3. So I saw when this first came out looking for testes and figured, let other people get it for free...I'll just buy them and try it. To start I have the putt out ramp and it is my go to putting tool. I use it at home, in the office, and at the course. It is super easy to set up and even easier to tell when you are doing it right. Its also a fun to challenge your friends to see who can get the most perfect putts with a set number of tries....That said, these new balls they have require so much set up EVERY TIME you want to jsut HIT a put. I can put 10 times to the ramp with a regular ball int he amount of time it takes to maybe set up correclty twice with one of these things. I guess that means I have terrible alignmnet and maybe that needs to be worked on, but that was a big turn off for these that ended up just sitting unused for the last couple of weeks.

Sadly, I do not see myself recommending these to anybody unless they are already very good at using an alignment mark on their ball (I don't put with an angliment mark while playing). Otherwise when you struggle to hit this square  you will always question if it was because you lined it up wrong, or if your stroke was off.

  4. I swing at about 107-110 with a ball speed of about 155-163 depending on contact. My attack angle is roughly +6. My driver height commonly is 120' or more. So 80' would be my "low" shot. It's all relative to how you swing and where the ball stops. Don't worry too much about how it got there. If it keeps you in play and your not loosing distance to the point that you cant' reach the green then run with it.

As to the same heigh question, I think that is more related to the irons and I can say that all my irons 3-PW go pretty much the same heigh. I don't think woods are in that same boat as the clubs are so much different design (head shape, material, shaft material, shaft length, Teed up!, Ect.)

But, it's like paying $30 for a replacement torque wrench.  I hope they are not that much.   Mine do have cool Callaway and Taylormade logos on them 🙂

Just a note here, that I have been told by one of my club fitters that different brands might use a different torque spec so be carefull relacing or mixing them up. If you end up using one with a high enough setting above the original you could strip your shaft threads...

Just working it backwards. If you use expert mode (phone only?) you can put in exact CHS. 111 CHS and it produced 158 ballspeed. 1.4 smash.

OK I found it on the phone...then went back and I was indeed blind. It was just on the way left side of the scree and I didn't even notice it. Thanks.

I have seen two fitting recommendations from this site today one with a driver smash of 1.4 the other with a driver smash of 1.38. I understand smash and it's suspect usage. But I would NEVER buy a driver any where near those smash numbers. Cool idea but not sure what is produced is useful.

How are you getting to a place that shows smash factor? I only see yards, launch, spin, ball speed...

  8. So I just did the trufit thing and I was happy to see they recommend the same shaft I already use. However, it says ball speed 158mph, launch of 13*, and spin of 1950rpm = distance of 301. That seems off. Using Flightscope shot optimizer those same specs give a carry of 260 and total yards of 271...My Launch monitor (mevo+) agrees that even with 160.4 ball speed and 2149 rpm and 14.5 launch (to pretty close to the trufit numbers) i got 260.8 carry and "roll out total" as 285. (for consistancy sake the optimizer app shows those specs having a carry of 266 and total of 275 - which seems pretty close to my real world averages)

I am curious what algorithim they use to get that total distance. Seems like they might be inflating the numbers a bit to try and get people who don't know their real numbers to jump into "gaining 16 yards and 6% more accuracy" by buying a new driver.

  10. The club I play in is pretty small and mostly 15+ on handicaps (maybe 5-6 of us are single digit), but we still try and play as much to the rules as possible. Several times people come in with an x on the card becuase  they didn't want to finish a bad hole. I play by the rules with my ball, but when a "competitor" asks about a drop or somethign I always say sure. I am just out there for fun I don't need to be the jerk enforcing rules on people who are happy to break 100. Lets keep it fun people!

That’s every 6 months if you play only 3 rounds/week!

ONLY!?! Lol..I wish. I play like once a month when I am lucky. (not including range/home net practice)

That said, my wedges are the SM5's that came out in like 2014 and I still sometimes spin the ball off the front of the green. Now my grip is slick and in wet conditions it doens't spin as well, but I tried replacing it once and i switched back fairly quickly as I was way more consistant with my old wedge. Having said all that, I am eagerly awating "upgrading" to the SM9's once they are in stores. I figure $180 every 8 years really isn't that bad price.

  12. I think it is an interesting idea, but I would also probably not purchase it for 2 main reasons. 1) My kids are crazy so I wouldnt really want them to have real clubs and balls in the house. If it was outdoor maybe, but then it would need to be able to handle the elements, pets, and compensate for non-level ground (most interchangable tiles to will not doe this). 2) Being a snap together, it would likely be difficult to make it roll tru over those connections so it couln't really be used for mroe serious putting practice when the kids are not around/interested.

I do wish you luck though!

Wedge matrix - I've really struggled the few times I've tried to put together a wedge matrix. Everything seems to go the same distance! I know it's technique, and it's something I should really get a lesson on at some point.

When doing you wedge shots, how do the club head, ball speed, launch, and spin differ from club to club? If your club head is the same speed, but launch angle and spin vary, your distance should too.

I don't drink any alcohol when I play unless the beverage cart girl flirts with me and then I'm pretty much obligated to buy something.

They can play old men as if we were harmonicas.

In the clubhouse, I'll have a drink or two but never more than that because I'm driving home.

I miraculously got away with too much incredibly stupid behavior as a youngster

so that my place now is to be thankful and not tempt fate.

Growing up playing golf with my Father I always cringed when he and his buddies would flirt with the cart girl such that now I almost never go up to the cart when it drives by. Just an instinctual wave that I'm I don't need anything...Plus, I have a wife at home to flirt with....

I will typically grab a beer in the bar after the round if my playing partners are hanging around. Like previously said I am a bit picky on the whiskey/cocktails selection at most golf courses.

I have the best launch monitor available, my eyes. I prefer to play 9 holes hitting 2-3 balls off the tee than go to the range. By doing this I know that everything is how it is when I play comp.

Only time I go to the range is if I am trying to modify some aspect of my swing.

I agree that on course practice would be ideal. But where I live, you wouldn't have the time to hit that many shots on the tee. The courses are too busy. With the Launch Monitor I can use it in my yard set up a hole and practice hitting that shot. Then when I have that "Shot" in my regular round I have confidence I can pull it off. Also, with my current schedule I don't get to a course very often anymore so being able to play a bit at night is nice to keep the swing oiled.

  16. I bought the Mevo+ to use in my yard last year and while I don't get to use it as much as I had hoped, I still love that I have it. Any time i have a block of time where nothing else needs to be done I have the option of stepping outside and "hitting the range", or playing a round of virtual golf in the same amount of time it would have taken me just to get to a course. I have also used it to help my son play a bit more constantly. All in all I would buy it again.

I’ve messed with Turkish coffee a few times but I’ve never had the “proper” equipment for it. Do have both a fairly modified electric burr grinder, couple manual burr grinders, and I believe I’m getting sent a ROK manual grinder to mess around with as well.

As for the siphon/vacuum pot, they really do make a fantastic cup and are really enjoyable to see work. The cup is somewhere between the clarity of a good pour over and the body of a french press. I need to get back to roasting for myself again, been missing that.

I've thought about trying to roast coffee, but then I remember how bad I am at cooking and just figure I'll let the pros do it and just buy as fresh as I can.

For the Turkish coffee, my first batch I literally in front of the tv and hand ground it in a molcajete to see how it was done int he old days. Now I either grind it in the store if the machine has the setting, or my Hario hand grinder can do it, but it takes a long time. Then I ordered a couple of hand made pots to use. The one at home can do several servings at once so my wife can have some too.

French press, 3 and 6 cup Chemex, Hario V60, Yama stove top siphon pot, moka pot, Rok espresso press……. I have a problem 😅13D3F86D-9700-4AE3-AEFC-AE56CCCCC31C.jpeg.8ea9a09cd49ce7a1f8b89cf6b1c24470.jpeg

What no Turkish coffee grinder & pot? I'm disappointed...

I have a similar issue as you:

Home: Electric Burr Grinder, Manual Burr grinder (in case power goes out), Electric Kettle, Turkish Coffee, Moka Pot, Pour Over, French Press, Espresso Machine

Work (all at my desk): 2 Manual Burr Grinders (different settings), Electric Kettle, Turkish Coffee pot and single burner stove top, French Press, Aeropress, Espresso Machine, Milk warmer/frother.

I've been eyeing a siphon pot, but don't' know where I would put it at this point...
