NitroSwing - Does It Work?

Recommended Posts

Don't really know if it works or not being totally honest.

Got an email from with an individual that is a part of this product.  They will be launching it at this years PGA Show.  If you guys think we should give it a review let us know.

ok, I think I grasp the concepts, but it would seem to create a situation where your grip would become too firm and create additional issues.

Something I could see in a golf training facility, but not for home use.

On that note feel free to review it, but it could be the greatest thing since sliced bread and I still have a feeling people won't buy it due to space issues, and I'm guessing it's expensive.

It looks like it would train your slow twitch muscles for power, but not fast twitch for speed. The guy's swing at the beginning and end of the video looked ridiculous although maybe he bombs it. If that's the swing you develop using that thing, NO THANKS!

Plus it would train you to muscle the club and try to steer it through the ball instead of swinging it. It looks like a good core exercise, if you can do it both directions. But swing training? It would be a train wreck for me.

Frank Campitelli writing.  The inventor, and guy with the "ridiculous" swing mentioned by Blade.  Yes I do "bomb" it.  That swing has one purpose and is world class competitive in long drive while driving golf balls 210mph and over a quarter mile in distance.  Yes, I have a "short game".  It's very short.  I don't need to hide behind some "avatar" name to write something.

Before I make an attempt to be diplomatic and defend the NITROSWING I would like to thank you all for your "reviews".  However, a "review" would entail actually using the NITROSWING and then giving everyone your "take" on it.  That being said, all the comments were "opinions" that had no real merit.  So, thanks for the opinions.

First, I'd like to say that I don't embellish any of the claims on the web site or YouTube videos.  As much as the golf industry is full of hype, hope, and crafty marketing, the NITROSWING relies on a concept called "training".  This is not "magic", "weird tricks your golf instructor only knows", or "simple golf moves you don't know" etc-etc.  Golf has enough of that, and I won't contribute to it.

We have data on all of our students/clients and pretest/post test all of them and track progress.  We have been 100% successful to date in increasing CHS, distance for all clubs, and accuracy.  Obey the laws, elements, and protocols of training science and you get results.  Understand physics, kinesiology, and how skills are developed and you will fully understand how this came to be.

To say that it could be achieved with "low-cost PVC pipe" is one of the funniest things I have ever read.  Got a picture or video of that?  Like to see it.  Commenting on how it "looks like it would train slow twitch muscle for power, but not fast twitch for speed" is interesting too.  Like to know what your basis of evaluation consists of.  Observation or interaction?  I provided a link so everyone can be "debunked" on slow moves use slow twitch, and fast moves use fast twitch.

http://www.biopulser.com/fyi.html

What the NITROSWING actually does is change the rate coding frequency of muscle innervation and amplifies it through the sequentially contracted muscles that do a multiple rotation torque multiplication/reduction lever system on a tilted axis with massless resistance.  Hhhhhhmmmmm,...did you get that?

Addressing the "expensive" issues.  In a world of $400 drivers, $1,000 set of irons, $60/hr instruction programs, $200 green fees, 10-20K launch monitors, and $5,000 golf getaways, I would have to say that it is right on par with what people spend on golf.  However, none of those previous things mentioned will provide the interaction that will add 13-15mph to your driver club head speed and increase your accuracy as well in ten sessions.

Is it for someone that would buy for their home?  Maybe, seems some golfers spend 20-40K to put a simulator in their basement and think it is worth it.  Space and size?  You can't swing your clubs in the space that the NITROSWING takes up, so it should not be a concern.  Yes, it is for golf facilities and for golf pros that want to provide something for their golf students that "just hitting more balls" can't do.   The 100 million dollar "distance marketing" segment of the golf industry has zero solutions in the equipment department, however people keep buying that stuff.

Instruction is one thing, training the golf swing with high speed rotational resistance and a laser guidance sliding shackle release handle so you see face, path, and feel release points is on another level.  It is the same thing you do with a golf club, except it is amplified several different ways.  It is a physical stimulus that your body adapts and acquires through doing.  No amount of verbal or visual instruction can do this.

Ok, that's it for now.  I fully apologize for coming off smug and irritated.  If you spent a large amount of time creating something and it worked better than any current solution and people made negative opinions with no basis of experience with it, I would like to see your reaction.  The truth has three phases.  1-ridicule, 2-violent opposition, and 3-self evident.  It did debut at the PGA show and those folks that did swings on it made it right on through to the 3rd phase.  I am not a name dropper, but some of the most influential instructors in golf did swings on it while at the show.  They came away smiling and impressed.

"knowing and not doing,...is not knowing"- Unkown

Maybe some of my clients should write in on their experience and provide a "review".

Hi Frank, firstly it's great that you've come in here to contribute to the discussion - hopefully that continues.

This is a golf forum though, and that means that this is a place where discussions are held and opinions are sought and offered - not just facts. Of all the forums around the place you'll find MyGolfSpy the least likely for anyone to, as you put it, "hide behind some avatar name to say something".

The question was asked whether the forum members would find it useful for the MyGolfSpy staff to review your product, and people gave opinions.

You used the quote - "knowing and not doing, ...is not knowing" - A piece of advice then as you clearly are unaware - People associate the practices of inventors/companies/staff with the value they place on the companies products (it is easy to lose potential customers attention through poor/questionable practices) ... Absolutely defend your product, but do it by building up your product and answering concerns, not attacking or tearing down the comments of those who have opinions/concerns about it.

Hey thanks for dropping by the forum. I remember seeing you on the Shark Tank with a different workout device, but it wasn't golf specific. I see that you are marketing your device for both technique and strength/speed training. I've looked at the memoryswing device, your device, and the new "robot device... or whatever they call it". They are in three completely different price ranges but yours seems to be the one that deals with build club speed. Do have a patent on this?

To everyone else, yes this would be a great thing to get a review done on. I'd love to see an avid player do 10 sessions with this and see if it did anything. Heck, with a custom driver easily costing $800 now, this seems like a no brainer to get a review done on.

Aotearabrad, thanks for reading my rant.

"If you guys think we should give it a review let us know."

That was copied and pasted from the original statement.  A simple "yes, I think it needs to be reviewed and checked out", or "no, we see stuff like this", maybe even,"yeah, that looks interesting, sure would like to know more about it".  But when someone provides "subjective" opinion on something never using it, better be aware that someone might have "experience" that trumps the "opinion".  It's not being argumentative at all.  It was not an attack on them.  I always wonder why the "politically correct card" is played after someone gets a rebuttal for their opinion.  Defend my product?  You bet.  Not because it is MY product.  Defended because it works plain and simple.  I am clearly aware of why I wrote "Knowing and not doing,...is not knowing".  It had nothing to do with business practices, it had all to do with educating those on a basic principle of motor skill development and experience.  Critics, naysayers, and nonbelievers seem to have powerful words when they write opinion.  However those with experience, interaction, and objective data should take a stand and inform those "not knowing" with the truth.

By all means I would absolutely LOVE for someone to do a review on the NITROSWING.  If you are in the Cleveland, Ohio area I will personally give you a full demonstration and you can post here to "set the record straight".  Send me a PM, or call me, and we can get a few guys to have a review panel.  I would be honored.  My phone number is on the home page of the website.  I will answer the phone.  Someone on here may actually do 10 sessions and give a FULL REPORT on their experience (review).

Marc, yes I was on "Shark Tank" with the TITAN 1000.  It was the preceding product that enlightened me on the training capabilities and attributes of "High Velocity-High Resistance".  Keiser is kind of doing parts of the swing with air with their functional trainer, but the resistance is linear not rotational like the NITROSWING.  Yes, I have several patents on these products and I am currently pursuing others as well.

I have had several "avid" players on it with 10 sessions.  Depending on how big they are physically, and how old, I get 8-10mph average out of them.  It is easy to get 3-8 with a beginner with better technique and mechanics that normal instruction can provide.  But I usually see about 12-15mph CHS with a driver with average guys (15 handicap).  I had a former PGA pro and 30 year teaching veteran do 10hrs of training on it and he was 72 yrs old and went from 101.6mph ave CHS to 109.1 mph and gained 25 yds carry average.  His swing technique did not change, but it was a shear testament that if it works on an older pro that has hit golf balls for 60+ years it will pretty much work on anyone that puts the work/swing in on it.  So far I am the #1 lab rat and started this 6 years ago with no golf experience.  At 41 years old, the question to myself was "could I achieve world class long drive speed with this concept?"  If I could do that, then it would be totally valuable to those that do have golf experience and want that long drive power ( OR AT LEAST SOME OF IT).  Not everyone wants to hit 400 yard drives, or can.  But with the right tool and the right training, anyone can get at least 25% of what I achieved which is 30 yards.  That is pretty much a guarantee.

It's hard to believe these stats for most golfers because they have been "hoodwinked" by the equipment manufacturers for so long since the ball and club head has been regulated.  They buy new clubs and balls with promise of distance and with hope and desperation they don't get it year after year.  I would be skeptical as heck about buying new clubs and balls that have millions of dollars of hype behind it knowing the COR/CT has been set for over 10 years and the ball too.  But golfers keep buying them.  Heaven forbid the fact that you could train on an exercise device that made you stronger and faster and more accurate with ALL YOUR CLUBS.  How absurd.

But, if you went to the gym 2X a week for an hour and lifted weights, did the machines, and rode the elliptical, SOMETHING WOULD HAPPEN.  Right?  Why is this so different?  Swing HARD, Swing FAST, Swing ON PLANE with the guidance feedback that checks your path and face angle.  What do you THINK would happen?  This isn't crazy golf dogma, voodoo, or swing philosophy.  It's not some trick, magic, or hocus-pokus.  It is tried and true training science in action, not science fiction. As a personal trainer by trade/profession, I see golfers at the range practicing and practicing year after year and get no better.  Same thing, same result.  No one questions that.  If that was the case of going to the gym, no one would go.  Go to the gym, do the work, get no results.  Sounds crazy doesn't it?  I decided to do something about it.  Not just an idea, I made it with my own hands.

So if the guys/gals in the NE Ohio area are wanting distance and accuracy, want a demo, or want more info, I welcome you to get involved.  You won't be sorry.

And lastly, once again I apologize for my lack of diplomacy, class, or seemingly abrasive nature.  I just get tired of the negative comments that constantly come with being a pioneer for something that would benefit all golfers.  I am not selling to those that are not buyers and my political correct bank account is overdrawn.

Stay tuned,...and So Long (long drive pun)

Frank Campitelli

First time seeing this thing. Wouldn't be for me and certainly not buying one. The guy made me tried watching the video.

I know my swing won't win a beauty contest but that guy hitting a driver looked out of control. LOL

I have been teaching the golf swing for 6 decades working with mostly beginners and high handicappers, I began using the Nitroswing about a year ago and now use it exclusively to train all my clients from beginners to elite high school  &  college players. The Nitroswing has proven to be the perfect tool to both learn a proper swing or greatly improve it. I formally challenge any golf trainer or instructor in the world to disprove the value of training on the machine.  It is without a doubt the future of swing training. I would love to do a demo of the machine and we will travel to you to do it.

Are there any SoCal training facilities that feature it?  I'd be happy to be a guinea pig for this - handicap sitting at an 11.6 currently - driver speed about 101(ish).  I just bought a RypStick, but have not started the training protocol yet, as I was waiting until after the New Year to begin it.  I think this sounds truly fascinating, and am happy to give it a go 🙂

Gotta love when an oooold thread gets refreshed!

Anyhow...

So, imo, this thingamajig looks pretty interesting .. and potentially very useful! .. and the website still exists .. but nowhere on it do they mention anything about pricing, just "Call for a quote"...

In Frank's posts he seems to want to get some broader (if not "mass market") appeal .. so why not be more forthcoming with some deets and let potential consumers decide for themselves..?

IMHO the "quote" thing immediately tells me it's out of reach for most consumers, despite Frank's arguments re: well how much do you spend on clubs? ..lessons? ..nice golf trips? etc.

Again, it does appear interesting and useful .. and well-engineered; Frank does appear to be an intelligent and resourceful guy, but .. I'm gonna continue taking lessons and doing basic stretch tube rotational exercises (in addition to working with my Orange Whips).

I would not imagine this would be the kind of thing one would have in their garage - but I would 100% be interested in going to a coach who DID have access to this in order to maximize the benefits of lessons, etc.  I could see this being a hugely beneficial device - I'm surprised it's not a little more widely-used/talked about, honestly, given the rise of swing-speed trainers.

We are preparing to present it to some of the indoor training centers and Top Golf is on our list. It is designed to be used as a tool just like driving range practice for as long as you play golf; as a matter of fact our first location is at a driving range opening next week in Akron Ohio. The routine we envision is you do your sets on the Nitroswing then hit balls, cost is $4 for a full self training session,  the cost for training 2 times a week for a month is less than a round of golf and your swing will keep getting better and better.

The Nitroswing works very well with a coach or you can self train using your phone to view your swing, your workout consist of 5 sets of 25 swings. It is real time training as we are correcting mistakes while you are swinging. The Nitroswing is a new way to work on your swing, it benefits all gofers from beginner to elite . It is a swing speed generator that when used correctly will make everyone stronger, faster and a way more consistent.

We pivoted the program to more of a training tool to be ideally used at ranges and training facilities along with home use. It took some time to put together the different programs for beginner, high handicapper and elite. We are now confident that we have the best swing training system for all skill levels.
