jbil8802
This morning I picked up my new irons so I figured I'd take a few pics while switching them out and also because it's 9* outside and I can't hit them yet so I feel like I need to do something to keep myself occupied. Aotearoa_Brad
Nice setup jbil - interested in how the Nippons work out for you, have you had irons shafted with them before? jbil8802
Thanks Brad. I've never had irons shafted with the Nippons before. I think it usually gives two or three recommendations, right? Were there other shaft recommendations the optimizer made as well? I think it usually gives two or three recommendations, right? Correct. It gave three recommendations. I also hit the KBS C-Taper Lite as well as the True Temper XP105. The worst results (which were still pretty good) were with the True Temper but I didn't like the feel of it. The KBS was slightly better and I liked the feel but the Nippon just produced the best grouping by far and felt amazing for me. mr_divots
Right on. The XP was probably too loose in the tip, I imagine. The Nippons definitely have a reputation for feel. I've been hitting balls at the range and my tags keep popping out on me after several shots. Thanks! I hit anywhere from 500-1000 balls per week at the range with roughly half of them off being off mats. I've never had any tags fall out. I've used them in Ping grips, Mizuno grips, Golf Pride New Decade Multi Compound grips, and hand made leather grips from Best Grips all with no issues. Plus taking them in and out for the all the grip/club changes. What type of grips are you using? I've found that with grip changes most of the time I have to use pliers just to get them started to get them out. gkatshoots69
Well that's interesting, I've had it happen on 3 different irons and haven't hit nearly has many balls as you have. Right now I'm gaming Pure Pro series grips and they are brand new this winter. The tags were a pain to get in but they seem to come out rather easy. I doubt it will be a problem on the course since I will only be hitting say my 7 iron a couple times but I don't really want to remove them if I am just going to the range for fear that I might lose one. If I wasn't hitting into a net the first few times I wouldn't have even noticed the tags came off. jbil8802
That's strange. It could be the Pure grips, I haven't tried them yet. A dab of glue between the bottom of the tag and top of the grip might do the trick while still being easy enough to get off for a grip change, not to mention cheaper than regripping. gkatshoots69
Yea I'm not ready to drop more $$ on a new set of grips just yet, need to at least get a few rounds out of the Pure's.
