tony@CIC
Notice, the fix is given... I've never had more issues with malware and blue screens than with a PC laptop. Besides, if it's for “businessâ€, the IT team is PAID to do their job and keep all security up-to-date. Can't go wrong with either, probably, but my Mac is much more versatile than the 4 PCs I've had for work. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy I guess I go both ways.........I mean I have a Windows laptop and iPad & iPhone. Both the Windows laptop and iPad work great accessing Internet/emails. However, I found that all of the Office products seem to be easier to use on the Windows laptop. Maybe just an operator issue? I know the apple desktop and laptops are great for graphics design but I've never used that functionality. Brian A
Avoid Asus! I had one that was supposedly the top of the line laptop within 3 months it crashed (with complete reinstall of everything) several times, ended up ditching it for a surface pro. MDGolfHacker
Computers/tablets/laptops are all very personal, just like the drivers we choose to use. I've spent my career in the IT industry from when Apple released the Macintosh / IBM their 5150 to all the current iterations today. Suffice to say there's a computer for everyone out there . Let's try and keep this on topic though on best laptop opinions. As usual, everyone's experiences will vary though. My preference is for Dell and HP Business series laptops (never buy the consumer branded laptops as they have a lot of bloatware (extra software you don't need) on them). I've used Lenovo in the past with great success also. I've never had success with Acer brand computers/laptops, but this was early on in their entry into hardware. Not sure of their current efforts. tony@CIC
One lesson I learned regardless of the laptop you buy is on doing backups. I didn't pay much attention to my backup drive when it stopped working. Then my computer crashed with all of my docs, family photos etc on it. Fortunately they were able to recover the files/photos but it did cost $ 900. For the recovery. Now. I have two backup drives. bens197
I have been an Apple loyalist since 2005. I know well enough that computer loyalty is very particular for a myriad of reasons. I'll offer mine... They work. I am a simple non-technical guy. They turn on, don't freeze and don't require virus software. If there's an issue I can take it direct to the vendor and get face to face help. Full disclosure, in 12 years I've never had to do that. At the end of a life cycle..3-5 Years (current is 5 years old and I have no plans to upgrade) I wipe it after migrating and sell it for $250-350. I've had an iBook, MacBook and MacBook Air. Yes I am sure you have a great reason for why you like or dislike Apple. For me, it works and I get my money's worth with reduced headaches, quality, reliability and resale.
