tony@CIC
For those of you using GHIN, they have made a major upgrade with GPS, shot tracking and a Greens heat map! Note I had to go into the app store to manually update (vs. my normal auto updates) my GHIN app and the cost for the GPS/Greens heat map is $39./yr. The only other 'disadvantage' is that you have to go into 'hole by hole' scoring to access both. Golf2Much
Thanks for the heads up. I just downloaded the GHIN app upgrade and it looks interesting. When I opened it, clicked "play with GPS" the GHIN app offered the first round as a free trial of the upgrade package. I can't wait to give it a try at the course. I've been experimenting with Game Golf again (with pretty good results so far) which frees me up to track shots with the device and use any GPS app I want. If it works well, I see no reason to download something else! tony@CIC
While is is a major improvement for the GHIN app, I think a big miss is getting to the Greens info. As I mentioned in my original post - you have to get into 'hole by hole' shot tracking menu first. I already use Shotscope so for us that use it or ARRCOS that portion doesn't make sense. My recommendation to them is to just put it on the front page of their menu. TR1PTIK
Was able to download and preview a couple of courses I'm familiar with. I definitely like what I'm seeing and will probably try it out on the course tomorrow, but their mapping definitely is not accurate. I was looking at a course earlier that was definitely missing a few prominent trees, and by prominent I mean trees that will usually be in your direct line off the tee. tony@CIC 1 Quote Driver: ST190 9.5* Fujikura Atmos Blue 5S Fairway Wood: ST190 15* Fujikura Atmos Blue 6S Hybrid: CLK 17* Fujikura Speeder EVO HB Irons: J40 CB (3-PW) Dynamic Gold Tour Issue X100 Wedges: Milled Grind 2 54* & 58* Dynamic Gold S200 Putter: Tri-Hot 5k Two 34" Bag: Players 5 Stand Bag Ball: Maxfli Tour

tdc1
I currently use a Shot Scope GPS watch (G3) but have been looking at the GHIN app (standard version). As someone with a limited data plan and somewhat rural location I'm a little worried about how much of my plan would be consumed in a 4.5 hour round. Any estimates? Thanks. tony@CIC 1 Quote Driver: Ping G425 Max (10.5º; Regular ) Fwy: Cobra King SZ (3; Regular); Ping G410 (5; Regular) Hybrids: Ping G410 (22º and 26º; Regular) Irons: Cleveland Launcher XL (6-U) Wedges: Ping Glide 3.0 (54º/12º), and Ping Glide 3.0 Eye2 (58º/8º) Putter: Ping Karsten Anser X

So at the end of the Round my score is posted. I love reviewing the stats ok not as comprehensive as Shot scope or arccos but much much easier to use and tells me enough The GPS is fantastic! Probably will not renew my Sky Caddie It’s every bit as good as it. brogies
I use the GHIN app for distances regularly. And I’ve tested both free and Enhanced GPS. The free version gets the job done for me right now. I like that I can keep all my stats in the app along with my handicap. The issue I’ve had with other GPS/shot tracking apps is either minimal integration with GHIN or none. I’d rather have an official handicap than a handicap through a random app. The GPS distances don’t ever include slope, which does get annoying, but it’s because it’s tournament-approved. Which, I actually messaged the developer and said there should be two modes, tournament and non-tournament, so that guys like me who will never play in a tournament can get “plays like” distances. Otherwise I’ll still be looking elsewhere for this. The shot tracking is kind of clunky and requires you to hit a button before every shot to record. If you’re looking for shot tracking, part of the Enhanced GPS package, you should look elsewhere for now. It’s so annoying I only used it for drives off the tee and didn’t bother on any other shots. But, overall, it works pretty well despite lacking a lot of features other apps have. I'm only just seeing this, and was thinking about giving it a shot next round - assuming the pairing with my Apple Watch is seamless. I also have a ShotScope, and am thinking about using both simultaneously to see if there's an advantage of one over the other. I've definitely noticed that Shot Scope tends to miss multiple shots over the course of the round, and it's (while not impossible) a bit of a pain to go back and discover which shot it actually missed. I'll let you all know if there's a benefit of one over the other. tony@CIC 1 Quote Driver - Callaway Ai Smoke Max - 9* - Draw setting; Maltby UL (Otto Phlex) 5/7 Wood - Takomo Ignis Utility - Caley X01 Driving Iron (3 = 18*) (currently benched) Irons (5-PW) - Caley 01T Wedges (48, 52, 56, 60) - Indi Wedges FLX 48 / ATK 52, 56, 60 Putter - L.A.B.
