The mental part and REALLY “knowing my game” are the toughest part, along with clearly visualizing my planned shots. However, when I am really playing well it is because I am doing at least 8 out of the 9. cnosil, Javs and sirchunksalot 3 Quote DR - Callaway Paradym AI Smoke Max, Newton Motion 4-Dot shaft 4W - Titleist TSR2, Newton Motion 4-Dot FW shaft HYB - Sub 70 949X 21*, original HZRDUS Black 85-S shaft 7W (if played) - Titleist TSR, ACCRA TZ6 7S Irons - Cobra King Forged Tec X, KBS TGI graphite shafts Wedges - Edison 2.0, 47* (bent to 48*), 53* and 57* (bent to 58*), KBS TGI 100 Tour S Putter - Evnroll ER10 ""Outback” Mallet Ball - Maxfli Tour-X CG (2023) or Vice Pro Plus Bags - Vessel / Ghost stand bags Cart - MotoCaddy M7 Remote (without the remote) Spoiler Lots of short game practice has made this a strength; now the driver is causing problems! Josh Parker
Properly Warm up - not like I should every single time. Flight wedges - Yes, I typically never hit a full wedge shot. know miss - Yes for the most part. Now I need to get better at not attempting some of those shots that put my miss in play. focus on start lines when putting - I see my line but could improve on this by learning speed control more. know their game - I know my game relatively well but always learning about it more and more. work on their mental game - Contstantly use visualization - Yes on just about every shot. Not 100% of the time but close to it. practice with purpose - This is a 60/40 yes clean clubs - yes, after each shot. sirchunksalot and Javs 2 Quote Titleist GT3 11* Tensei 1k blue Titleist TSR2 4w 16* Titleist TSR2 5w 18.75* MKII ZX 5's (4-6) w/ KBS Tour V MKII ZX 7's (7-PW) w/ KBS Tour V Vokey SM9 Wedges 50* 54* 58* DF2.1 Putter
EMJL
Properly Warm up - On the rounds that matter yes, the others....well.... Flight wedges - Yes know miss - Generally, but since it changes, focus on start lines when putting - yes know their game - somewhat. I probably know what I'd like my game to be better than I know my actual game. work on their mental game - Yes use visualization - Rarely practice with purpose - Usually clean clubs - Like someone is going to run a white gloved hand over them Javs and sirchunksalot 2 Quote Driver: Callaway Mavrik 10.5->9.5, Paderson KinetiXX Launch R Wood: Callaway Mavrik 3, Paderson KinetiXX Launch R Hybrid: Callaway Mavrik 4H, Graphite Design Tour AD R Irons: Miura CB301, 5-gw, Aerotech Steelfiber I95 R Wedge: Vokey SM8 54 and 58, 12 bounce, D grind, Shimada tour black Putter: Odyssey Dual Force Rossie II

Middler
I warm up with 3 stretches & an orange whip, but could/should do mo' better. I don't use visualization and I don't practice often. I sometimes chip and always putt before every round, but that's just to get used to speed for the day/course - I don't consider that practice. I do all the others for the most part, my clubs are always clean and my mental game is better than my actual game... Stuka44
Hmmmmmm! Warm Up: If 2-3 practice swings at about 35% speed with my driver constitutes a proper warm up, THEN YES!! Flight Wedges: Actually Yes I will take less club and swing easier with wedges. Know Miss: Yes I 100 percent know where I want to miss with every shot. The problem is that my ability to execute exactly the shot I want, and miss where I want runs at about 30%, so I often end up right where 10 second before I told myself I didn't want to end up. Focus Start Line: Yes under 12 feet, because I am 98% certain I will not 3 putt, and I can ACTUALLY make a few more of these with practice. Over 12 feet, where make percentage drops to single digit 9%, I concentrate on speed more to avoid 3 putting as my primary focus. Know Game: Yes I am very good at not attempting high risk shots of any kind. Mental Game: Yes... After walking off the course 3 years ago, and realizing I was a complete A-Hole, I can now hit any sort of bad shot you can imagine, and it just doesn't bother me anymore. Visualization: Not Really: Only on the putts 12 feet and less mentioned above. I will actually go through my routine.. practice strokes, set up, set putter behind ball, look at hole, follow the imaginary ball back to my putter from the hole, and hit it. On anything else it just seems to lead me to believing I can have more control over shots, than my actual ability will allow me. Practice with purpose: Yes on putting in my basement. Driving/Practice Range not unless merely thinking about going to a range counts as practicing with a purpose. Clean Clubs: Yes after every shot. chisag
On 11/11/2023 at 10:05 AM, cnosil said: focus on start lines when putting - I question this suggestion. I do practice start line but speed is probably more of a pros focus. ... So many different ways to accomplish the same thing. I completely agree speed is more important than line for most. As most know that have read my putting thoughts, I am a little unique in that I don't know what my line actually is. I take a look at the putt from ball to hole letting it sink into my brain, then when standing over the putt my brain may make an adjustment because as strange as it sounds I don't pick a line but trust that my subconscious has done that for me. What I do when I practice and when I putt is make sure I am stroking my putt straight through the ball so it starts on the line my brain has decided will work best with enough speed to topple the ball in the hole, and inside of 6 feet enough speed to roll about a foot past the hole. I would add I don't concentrate on speed either anymore than I thought about the launch of a jumper from the foul line, top of the key or 3 point line. I just take it in and let my natural feel for distance dictate the effort needed for the shot or putt. ... The beauty of my technique is I never have any doubts. I never second guess my brains decision because I don't really know what it is, I just trust it and stroke my putts. While the rest of my game can go off the rails at any time my putting never does and I have not made a single change to anything in 40 years. I do get more compliments about my putting than any other part of my game. As one of my pards said last week after hitting a chip 10 feet past the hole and making the comeback to save par "You could put any hunk of metal on the end of any stick and Sam could make putts with it". Shrek74
Properly Warm up - Yes. I do my best to arrive early enough to hit a small bucket to warm my my body. I do some stretching and shoulder rotation work to do my best to be ready to go come 1st tee. I don't have a written warm up routine, so that may be something I put on my goals for next year. Flight wedges - No. I'm just trying to hit them squarely at this point. Flighting may come once I'm actually able to hit them properly routinely. Know your miss - Yes/No. I need to make this part of my pre-shot routine to ensure I know where the good/bad areas are around my aim point. Focus on start lines when putting - Yes. I line my ball up with the line I want it to take. Then do my best to stay on that line with the proper amount of contact to get the ball to the hole. Going to work on picking an item/mark only a few feet from my ball as a close marker to help with that start line. Know their game - Yes/No. I started collecting stats at the end of the season for the first time. Small sample size, but it's already showing some great info that I'll keep with me as I play rounds that play to other items on this list. Work on their mental game - No. I really need to do this one going forward. Just need to figure out the best way how. Use visualization - Yes/No. I used to do it a lot when I played other sports, but haven't done it consistently with golf. That'll be more a part of my pre-shot routine next season. Practice with purpose - This will change to yes once I get my garage hitting area set up. I haven't really put much thought in to practice over the years, especially since I really never practiced before. That changes this off-season for sure. Clean clubs - After every round or range session.
