The scenery at golf courses can really be impressive. Sunrise or Sunset rounds really can offer up great pics! There's days I wish I had a camera on the course. EMJL
My wife has played ultimate frisbee for the past twenty years now, and at times, played pretty competitively. As we get a little older, she has expressed interest in golf as a game we can play for many years, but she has no background in anything like it and only plays once or twice a year at this point. Maybe in another five years she'll really get into it. She is very supportive of my golfing habit, to the point that we joined a country club and got a simulator in our basement. She definitely got some wife points for that. DaveP043
My wife has been playing for about 30 years. The took a few group lessons way back then, so she could "play a few rounds on vacations", and quickly got hooked. She's posted 132 scores for handicap this year, a few more than I have. She loves to compete, in club tournaments, interclub competitions, and local VSGA events. We play a match every time we play together, and over the last 3 years we're really close to even. Its rare that we take a vacation that doesn't include golf in some way. While this is great in may aspects, it also means that golf vatations are nearly double the price with both of us playing! edingc
My wife did play golf up until she had a bad shoulder surgery a few years ago. She was a pretty competitive softball player through high school, so the athleticism was there. We actually got her a new set of irons shortly after we met and she was swinging a 7 iron somewhere in the high 70s or low 80s at that point. Sadly, after the shoulder surgery she can no longer swing a club. But she walks nine holes with me a lot when the weather is nice. Typically start our day on the course and then head over for coffee afterwards. Swood1994
I started to get my wife into the game in 2020 and then Covid hit she played a couple times in order to get out of the house. For the last 2 years between being pregnant and now with the baby here she’s lost interest in playing (mainly due to the time commitment). Now, She mainly likes to come and walk with me with the baby while I play as something to do together. I like the company and it’s a change of pace from my normal routine. CLenahan
My wife doesn't play much, but grew up around it with both her mom and dad on leagues and grew up taking lessons. She has some issues with a fused disc in her back, so she likes to go out with me and hits whatever she feels like, and often just throws something on the green near me to prove she's still a better putter than I am even though she never touches a putter outside those days. We go most Sundays in good weather, and over the summer we often play a round then go to the pool. It's a fun time and gets us both out of the house. Cfhandyman
My wife started playing golf 4 years ago after I agreed to play pickleball. She was a beginner and not very good, but she is athletic and picks up things quickly. Her average average score was 125 – 135. Initially, had her play best ball, did not keep score and told her to have fun. She started in lessons right away and I got her fit for clubs at TXG six months into the process. She thought I was flipping insane and kept asking what am I doing here. I told her to trust me. When she got her new clubs, all I could hear was OMG every time she hit the ball. She then started playing in the ladies league and plays about 3 times a week. When she’s not playing with the ladies, we play together. I am the Uber driver, official caddie, booker of tee times and analyzer of data. I have been fired and rehired many times. After year one, her average score was in the low 100’s (105-115). She plays about 80-100 rounds per year. Fast forward 3 years, ongoing lessons and a few more fittings and new equipment to match her rapidly improving game, she now routinely shoots in the low 90’s (85-95) and quite often in the 80’s Her low round is 82. Her goal next year is to break 80, which she is totally capable of. Now, it’s only a matter of time before she beats me. ctg44 and Shapotomous 2 Quote Driver: Taylormade Stealth 2 plus, LA golf DJ shaft, 55S 3 wood - TM Stealth plus, Mitsubishi Kai’li. Noir
Partners and golf can be a mix of scenarios. Some enjoy playing together, whether it's a full 18 holes, a casual 9, or just some fun at the mini-golf course. Others might limit their golf interaction to the driving range. There are those who show interest in the game but haven't taken the plunge, and then there are partners who don't understand the appeal and have no interest in playing. For those whose partners don't play, it's a personal wish whether they'd like them to try the sport. Some believe their partners might enjoy golf if they tried it, while others accept it's just not their thing. Quote Link to comment
Noir
Quote I'm content being on my own, indulging in my passion for playing golf, and simultaneously managing my solo venture. I find great joy in playing golf, even if it means playing alone. This sport provides me with personal time and relaxation. At the same time, running my solo venture requires a different kind of dedication and hard work. I particularly enjoy balancing my work and hobbies, finding happiness in both these aspects of my life. Quote Link to comment
