What is your driver for 2024?

I’m still rocking my 2018 Callaway Epic 10.5. But along with your latest driver article, I have been eyeing the ai Smoke Max or Max D. But your vote for the Ping has me also wanting to demo it this year. I could use the extra forgiveness!

Right now I still have my Mavrik with the VA Composites Drago that I got fitted for at True Spec about 4 years ago. My intention is to go for a driver fitting soon to see if anything can beat what I have, but if not it's no biggie.

I’ve got last years Paradym triple D in a 10.5 set at 9.5 with Tour AD UB 6X, absolutely love this driver! Would I change it for the newer AI smoke…..of course I would 🤦‍♂️

Still using the Ping G425 max , without spending loads on an upgraded shaft eg Venus velacore , I don’t think there is much to gain on a new £550 driver .

I use a Titleist TSR2 10* head with a Ventus Blue Velocore 6S at 44.5 in. long.  Very consistent fairway finder and not bad for distance with my 100 mph swing speed.

Sticking with the PING G410 plus that I got for $329 at Spring golf show in 2019.  Was a great deal and a great driver.  I hit the PingG430 and Stealth last year on simulator and really didn't see any improvement in accuracy or distance with my swing.  I'm sure the new 10k drivers are awesome, but not for 5 to $600 dollars.  I miss the days when the new models were $300 and the previous year models were marked down to $199 or even $150.  Alas, those days are gone.

I was recently speaking with a friend that demoed the Callaway AI Smoke driver. His average drive with his Cobra driver was around 265 yards.  After hitting the AI Smoke he was up around 295-300 yards.  I am wondering if anyone else experienced that much improvement and at what handicap?

My 2015 GBB 10.5* remains the solid gamer. Have Epic Flash, XR and a 12.5* 2015 GBB on the shelf. None of them compare, or are as consistent for me.

If I could gain 30-35 yards on my drive I might just have to spend $600, but seems unlikely.

@Skrizan do you know if your friend was fitted?
What golf shaft were they fitted with vs what is in his existing Cobra Driver?

It's possible to hit one or two drives 295-300, but I'd agree with you to increase average 35yds?  Hmm

Well, it will be the used Epic Flash I bought a year or two ago.  You don't need to spend $550 for a spanking new product to enjoy the game and that's what it's about to me......  The claims represent more advertising than actual technology.

I got the pxg gen 6 with the tensei white 75 xflex tipped. So far I like it goes about the same or little farther than my old ping g410. Only thing is that I have a harder time to work the ball. I can still hit fades but I have trouble drawing it now

I'm using an Aircast Large, (Right leg).   It's the 2024 model.  I can get over 80 yards, but the dispersion is in the bottom decile.

More seriously, does anybody besides Mizuno make a smaller than 460 driver, now or within the last 3-4 years?  Mizu has a 440.  When I come out of the surgery boot, I have a 2021 PXG 0211 but need a stronger shaft than the A flex Evnflo rptide CB.  Til I re-shaft it, I also use a 2004 vintage Callaway 454 Ti on stock RCH 65 reg flex.

Currently still the PXG Gen 4 XF 10.5 head turned down to 9.5 with the Motore X F3 shaft. Not going to lie though, it's on the chopping block this year if it doesn't shape up. Possibly a low spin head is in the future for me if things keep going the way they are.

I’m sticking with the Callaway Paradym I got fitted for last year.

Callaway Paradym X driver

Callaway Paradym 5 and 7 fairways, + 1/2 inch shafts

Ping 20, 24, 27, and 31 degree hybrids, +2 inch shafts

Ping 6-9 G10 irons, +2 inch shaft on 6, then constant shaft length 7-9

Callaway 46 deg. wedge, same length as 6 iron

Ping 54 deg. wedge, same length as 6 iron

Callaway ERC soft yellow

I’m 6 feet, 8 inches tall so need the extra length shafts

I'm sticking with my PXG 0211 9* with regular shaft. I've seemed to finally found a groove with it, and while there are drivers with more technology out there, driving doesn't seem to be the weak spot in my game right now.
