Headhammer
I don't believe there is such a training aid. FYI, I have 2 - LMs, Orange Whips, Superspeed sticks, Tour Striker club, plus a couple more. My instructor uses both video and a MEVO. The $60 I spent for that lesson resulted in subtle changes to my posture/swing and far exceeded the benefits of a training aid. I could have spent 3 times as much (which I already have) and never gotten the benefits as I did from that one lesson. cnosil, cksurfdude and PrayingForPar 3 Quote Left Hand orientation SIM 2 D Max with Fujikura Air Speeder Shaft Cobra Radspeed 3W/RIptide Shaft 410 Hybrids 22*, 26* Cobra Speed Zone 6-GP/Recoil ESX 460 F3 Shafts SM7 54* Wedge Glide 3.0 60* Wedge O Works putter V3 NX9-HD - 4 Wheel EZGO TXT 48v cart - too many shoes to list and so many to buy And BAG Boy Golf Balls: Vice Pro Plus 2020 Official Tester Beginning Driver Speed - 78 2019 Official Tester 410 Driver 2018 Official Tester C300

RetiredBoomer
I'm a strong believers in lessons with the caveat that you can spend good money on bad lessons. Some coaches are so committed to a certain swing philosophy that they don't set the individual student on the right path for him or her. As for training aids, I've never been big on them while others will swear to them. cksurfdude
cnosil
12 hours ago, Goober said: Out of all the aids out there.Which one(s) gave you more of a positive feedback than a lesson would Kind of a chicken or the egg type of conversation here. The right training aid/drill can provide great feedback. The purpose of a lesson is to get feedback on what you can do to improve. If you are using the wrong training aid, don't understand the feedback, or how to use the feedback you probably won't improve. In theory the instructor is giving you feedback on what you should be experiencing and what you need to do to get better. Based on this thought process, a training aid could be more beneficial than a lesson, but you would have to understand what you are trying to change and how to go about making that change. My training aid would be the ExPutt simulator. It has helped me get the feels for putting distance control and face angle at impact. This provides feedback over a lesson because I have had lessons that have explained and I understand the putting mechanics so my need it to continue to practice those skills. cksurfdude and russtopherb 1 1 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: Paradym AI Smoke Max HL 16.5* w/MCA TENSEI AV Series Blue Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: Render w/VA Composites Baddazz Backup Putters: Sacks Parente MC 3 Stripe, Milled Collection RSX 2 Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017

Shrek74
I think the answer depends on what the individual is trying to accomplish. Is it swing, is it putting, is it short game? The training aids are only as good as using them for what they're designed to help with and also only as good as the student using them properly. Using a Hackmotion to fix tempo is likely going to be a fail. Just like using an Orange Whip to fix poor chipping technique will be a fail. There are plenty of quality aids out there, as long as they're used properly and as intended. cksurfdude 1 Quote Driver: STMax 230 10.5*, Stiff HZRDUS Smoke Blue RDX, 60g Fairways: 949x 3w / 5w, 15* / 18*, Stiff HZRDUS Smoke Red RDX, 70g Hybrids: 939x 4h, 21*, Stiff HZRDUS Smoke Red RDX, 80g Hybrid Irons: JPX923 Hot Metal Pro, 5-GW, UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Wedges: S23, 54* & 60*, UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Putter: Moment X Tour @ 35" & 71*, Super Stroke Pistol GT 2.0, White/Red Ball: Tour CG Technology: Anarch Rangefinder, V5 w/ Tags Shot Tracking. https://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/65161-vortex-optics-rangefinders-2024-member-test/?do=findComment&comment=1089247 https://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/66852-unofficial-review-tpi-virtual-assessment https://forum.mygolfspy.com/classifieds/ - DON'T FORGET ABOUT THE CLASSIFIEDS!!! cksurfdude
@Goober interesting question and I'm gonna echo @cnosil and @Shrek74 comments - training aids imo are best used when they help solve a problem that was identified by a qualified teaching pro. So not necessarily better than a lesson but a great additive to a good lesson (and have to agree with @RetiredBoomer there can be bad lessons). Too many recreational golfers buy things that .. unknowingly to them .. may actually hurt their swing and their game... I get a lotta use out of my Orange Whips .. often swing in front of a mirror so I can check my positions and movements as I'm doing them .. and I'm always practicing what was given to me in lessons (in person). Putting training aids are potentially the most useful. Also really happy with the ExPutt - great way to practice indoors and get feedback on your path and impact - and I also have a Blast Motion sensor which gives you some great metrics on your stroke (eg face rotation, tempo, etc). cnosil and Shrek74 2 Quote WITB of an "aspiring" play-ah ...
