NWI
I have enough room in my garage to start working on my winter set up. I’m buying the Rapsodo which requires 8 feet behind and 8 feet in front of the ball. My ceilings are 9ft and roughly another 9 feet wide. I was going to just buy some of those cheaper mesh nets from harbor freight and hang two of them up? I would think that would stop just about anything I’m hitting? At $30 a pop for a 10x10 if it lasts a few months that would be great. My other option is i’m not other side of the spectrum which is to get a Net Return net. Has anyone used the mesh tarp for direct impact or have another idea? Trying to avoid spending $600 on the Net Return if I can. Obviously, I have a lot of things to move out of the way. rkj427, Josh Parker, GolfSpy_APH and 2 others
Josh Parker
There are a ton of folks on here that have indoor setups that I'm sure will jump in. Amazon has a ton of options that are cheap for netting and impact canvas as well. I have this setup in the backyard and got it off of Amazon. cnosil, Rob Person, TJ Hall and 1 other 3 1 Quote Titleist GT3 11* Tensei 1k blue Titleist TSR2 4w 16* Titleist TSR2 5w 18.75* MKII ZX 5's (4-6) w/ KBS Tour V MKII ZX 7's (7-PW) w/ KBS Tour V Vokey SM9 Wedges 50* 54* 58* DF2.1 Putter
cksurfdude
Hanging some netting could work, just make sure the weaving is tight enough ie smaller than a golf ball and doesn't stretch on impact. You'll also want a wing on the side to catch those s#@nks! I have a Spornia which is about 7x7x7 with the optional "roof" that sticks out on top to catch lob shots. Also has a nylon sheet on the back for impact and to extend the life of the netting. More then $30 but less than $800. Oh fyi I also put it towards the inside wall so I could still get in and out of that side of the garage. Also removed the power door opener and track to clear more height to swing. Like Josh said look around the forum there's lots of threads and pictures to give you more ideas! WaffleHouseTour
Ditto on Spornia. Catch, collect, return…. Prop up flat, or fold up quickly. You can take with you or move outside in the summer. Rob Person
Options for behind the net. Cheap and easily replaceable if needed. Tyvek house wrap, double or tripled up. Cargo tarps from a trucking supply place. Thick vinyl, very durable. Harbor freight tarps , double or triple hang. For netting, find a golf course or driving range that uses the netting. Ask if they have any extra netting cutoffs you can buy cheap from them. There are a ton of sub $100 options for hitting nets too on Amazon and temu Most are tent pole style setups. It looks like you have the same situation I have. Your garage door opener will be in you swing area.. If you plan on leaving the net up then just take down the opener. Leave it all assembled and store it away. I made a frame from 1-1/4 PVC and connectors all from Lowes. Then got an impact screen from Amazon. I built the frame so it was just under the garage rails. This way I could still lift the door manually. The entire thing is light enough to move out of the way if needed. I left the top open to feel free to swing. I padded the wall over the net. Then I suspended a 1/2" sheet of plywood from the celing and covered it with sound absorbing foam panels. Lastly a truckers tarp from Harbor freight for the right side. The black mesh kind. It hangs off hooks over the garage door rails. You can slide it back when not used. I'll add a picture in a few minutes so it makes sense. The sides were also the truckers debris tarps then I padded the PVC with back pipe insulation. NWI
The garage door opener should be okay where it is. I need to have 7 or 8 feet of ball flight for the data to track. Worst case I could go from side to side but would rather not. I don’t really open that garage door for much my truck stays outside Rob Person and William P
NWI
So just sort of decided yesterday to go for it and build it in my garage. NWI
Yeah. That’s a canvas tarp from Harbor Fright. I think like $60 and the black mesh tarps also from there like $30 each. I like the PVC pipe idea and that looks cleaner then hanging it from the ceiling so I might go that route Rob Person
