mooremikea reacted to PlaidJacket in Re-gripping with an air compressor
This past week I setup my new gripping station and thought I'd share a few pics. I purchased my setup from Maltby. I also got a new compressor.
Wednesday evening I put everything to the test and regripped all my clubs using GP CP2 grips. The Maltby setup was a pleasure to use and made the process simple. I didn't use my compressor much except on two clubs. I had a $hitty connection** setup using the supplied quik-connect couplings and hose. So, I just installed my grips the old standard way using solvent and sliding on the grips by hand. No air. As you can see in my pictures the Maltby vise clamps into my existing bench vise. The Maltby device has a single lever-action to clamp the shafts. It's fully adjustable to set just the right amount of pressure to the shaft whether they be steel or graphite. My setup has tape holders for double-sided and build up tape. I only used the tape dispenser on two clubs as I left the existing tape on the shafts for all the other clubs. But, the tape dispenser was handy. My setup also came with a plastic solvent catch pan and a length of clear tubing to recapture the solvent into a jug. The Maltby grip station I purchased also came with an attachable club face alignment device that I don't particularly care for at this time. The idea behind this to help align the clubface/head squarely thereby insuring your grip is also aligned properly. I didn't think it worked as intended or perhaps I just don't "get it". Honestly, it's not necessary IMO. All told I'm pleased with my setup and the quality of the Maltby grip station. It's easy to setup, not expensive, and makes regripping a breeze.

** the way I connected the hose to the nozzle with the supplied quik-connect coupling was a bust. Each time it seemed I was ready to put the air to the grip my hand would cause the quik-connect to decouple. Just yesterday I purchased a new hose with 1/4" screw in connections. Now I've screwed the hose directly into the nozzle. Perfect.

For me, it was the first time breaking 90. My buddies and I always walked twilight rounds because it was much cheaper. It got so dark we could barely see the ball and the back 9 at our course is mostly woods. My buddy lost his ball on 16 due to darkness and packed it in. Since I was making a serious run at breaking 90 (first in my group to do it), I figured I'd keep shooting until I lost my ball.

The hardest part was the tee shots. Even though they wound up in the fairway, my buddy and I still had a hard time finding them using our phone flashlights. I played the '09 burner at the time and the only thing you could see was the spark when I hit the ball. No flight and definitely no landing. For all shots, my buddy held the flashlight over the ball so I could at least line up.

I played super conservative to keep my ball in the fairway and wound up parring 16, 17, and 18 to end with a cool 87.

Last summer tried a Ping "Sport" glove and had really good luck with it.  Three guesses on what website I used to research gloves.

I have been using the system for a little over a year and it has worked really well. Last summer my drives were a lot longer than the year before. I don't spend any time on launch monitors so I don't have exact numbers. Be patient with results it can take 6-8 weeks to see the additional speed on the course.

Hi Everyone. I have recently purchased the Superspeedgolf.com training aids. The idea of this speed over training is to get your body to break through some swing speed barriers to add speed to your swing and therefore increase driver distance. I plan to update this with thoughts, results, photos, the odd video, to show you an honest review as I try to ramp up the speed with the big stick. Stay tuned.

Seems like a hard one to answer. Kind of depends on what bang means and for how many bucks are you willing to spend. But I'll take a stab at it.
I recently purchased a TM/Fujikura Speeder 57 S flex with a Cobra adaptor installed on it for $29.00 bucks. (grip too but I changed it) That might not be considered aftermarket since it was once a stock shaft. This particular shaft has been a winner for me (bang) and the price was cheap (buck).

I was fit for a Fujikura Vista Pro in a G400 head. Based on the fact that I can pick up the shaft for $95 with grip and G400 sleeve on Amazon I would have to go with that as my choice. If I were to pick a different head that shaft may not work as well.
How do you want to define bang for buck?

Make sure lee Janzen isn't at the other end of the range first, but the first thing you do is put your change from your left pocket and put it in your right pocket, then turn your hat backwards. Out that tee behind you left ear. You'll look ridiculous but it works.

I am not a fitter but have read a few places that wedges should be flatter than your irons.  This also depends on your miss as well.  In general if a club is too upright the miss will be left, and too flat the miss will be right.

... Update: Too early for any definitive conclusions but after 5 rounds I see a pattern forming. The F8+ is a little longer than the F8 but not as accurate. The F8 is almost as long and for me at least, consistently longer because it is almost always in the fairway. I also have the F8 set at 10.5* and the F8+ at 12* to get a similar launch. I have mostly been playing one for 9 and then switching on the back 9. So now I will play several rounds playing only one driver and see what my results are.

... They are both just so very solid and extremely forgiving, especially the F8. On a side note the F8 fw wood is just flat out amazing. I have never had this much confidence in a fw wood.

I have the 4w and had out for the first time yesterday. Hit it very well overall.
Easy to launch from the fairway. Its tough to get an idea on the distance as we were playing in a constant 15mph wind.

But i bought it hoping to get a consistent 200 yards out of it. Id say i was pretty close to that on a couple holes yesteeday.

throw 1-2 wraps of masking take underneath to fatten the shaft and you can use a little solvent to help get the opening onto the shaft then blow it on. you'll need compressor tool with a tip that'll fit in the butt-end hole (gosh that sounded dirty) . putter grips take a bit more air pressure on the compressor due to the thickness, but i put a Tour SNSR 140 on my putter and it hasn't slipped at all, plus i'd think highly unlikely since the putter stroke uses such little force

As for the P2 grip, i'm one to want to try before i buy and there's only 1 place that carries them in my area. i've talked to a few golf shops that they have no clue about them.

I found the F8+, with the weight back, plenty forgiving.  No noticeable difference in forgiveness when compared to my 2017 M2

I have always played better when I walk. It started by not having the money to pay for a cart in my early playing days. Last summer I walked 18 holes by myself in 2 hours and 20 minutes.

No ones asked the important question of - how do you hit them?

Have you had issues with hitting them left?

Plus “standard” lies on wedges are often a bit flat so going 2 degrees may be more than that.

Either get fit or get them neutral, see the results and adjust from there.

Just got word about GlobalGolf's new club testing program called U-Try. It allows you to try brand new clubs from the top brands for $25 per club. You get to try it out for 14 days with shipping & returns being free.

This could come in handy for those who aren't near any shops, and want to test out the recently dropped clubs.
