  1. Great advice given so far.  Technology doesn't change all that much in drivers every year (despite what the latest marketing  push would have you believe), so a five year old driver will not be dramatically shorter or dramatically less forgiving than the brand new models.  For instance, the G400 Max was pushing the limits of MOI when it came out (I believe it was ~2018), so the incremental changes to get ever-closer to that limit will NOT make a world of difference as far as forgiveness.  Finding fairways is MUCH more important than an extra few yards!

  2. A bit late to this party, but haven't gotten on the forum for awhile.  Been using heads up since I discovered L.A.B. Golf putters a little over 2 years ago.  The high MOI of the DF 2.1 makes hitting to the toe or heel side a moot point as far as the ball getting to the hole.  Their tech to eliminate torque helps me get the ball rolling on my intended line, then it is only a matter of whether I've read the line correctly.   Heads up gives me SO MUCH better distance control !

No because it's always awake. The tags need some moving to make sure that they're awake.

Probably semantics, but I don't think the tags fall asleep - I think the band needs to sense them by the movement of the practice swing/stroke.  I think the band "wakes up" to the tags' presence.

Unless I'm confused on the technology involved, in which case I'll appreciate some further edjumucation 😉

I tried the insoles from fpinsoles.com they were designed by skateboarders and absorb all the shock.  I had two pair of older FootJoy FJ Sports that came back to life with the GP insoles.  When I got them, I put them in the oven at 225* for 12 minutes then inserted into shoes.  Now I have two new pair of golf shoes!

What model of the fp insoles did you get?

  5. Donated before I was selected as a tester (Voice Caddie SL2).  Once I was selected I wanted to do a really good job on the review.

So I was pissed when I had two vehicles go kaput on me near the end of the testing window, and I had to spend a big chunk of time getting back on the road, instead of concentrating on the review, as intended.  Got it done, and think it turned out OK, and learned a bunch while doing it, so really grateful for being selected.

If I’m going to practice I’m going to require a broomstick.  The putting set up is terrible on my back.

That is probably the way you ought to go.  L.A.B. is one of the few doing broomsticks.

I literally just hit the ball with my putter.  I don’t think about it at all.  Line it up, and hit it.

I have an Anser, I can feel it twisting in my hands. Don’t like that.

I’m all about making things as simple as possible.

I know you started by saying you wanted the B.2 blade, so that leads me to assume you can't get past the look of the DF 2.1?

I've had both, and sold my B.2 on the bay and actually made a few bucks due to good timing. The forgiveness of the higher MOI mallet won the day for me (as I could give a 🐀 a$$ what it looks like if it is getting more balls to the bottom of the cup in the least amount of strokes).  Most folks find the L.A.B. putters to do a great job of starting the ball on line, but that is by no means universal.

I get the best distance control by actually looking at the flag (or other aim point if there is break to the putt) and letting my brain figure out how to hit it to get it there. I liken it to playing corn hole, you look at the target, not at the bag when you make the toss. The forgiveness of the DF 2.1 to either toe or heel strikes makes it virtually a non-issue if I miss the exact center of the face.

For me, the tech WORKS, as I have never putted better.

And now you have my 2 cents worth.

P.S. do the remote video fitting they offer (as you can't beat the price of FREE). That way  you'll know your specs, and can head off to the bay and find one that matches (unless you are very far off the norm, then it might take a while). As long as you keep the headcover on it when not in use, you'll be able to sell it for what you bought it for, to either put towards the purchase of a new one (if you feel the need), or move on in your search, with your wallet unscathed.

That's probably 3 cents worth at this point...

  8. Except for one of the number 3 balls, all of the others had small paint bubble imperfections in certain spots (some of them in several spots).  The #3 balls had a small  C and Z stamped in adjacent dimples, and the #4 balls had Y and P stamped in them (as I subsequently found out these are mold codes).

I'm getting a little bit more of a "click" off the putter with the #3's, as that is the only thing I've tested so far.

Just a guess but the code stamps are probably manufacturing quality control codes to identify different molds and/or manufacturing fixtures and not specific to the design of the balls. We always used QC markings for identity purposes.

Larry, you got that exactly right.  I found out from another thread that the two letters stamped in adjacent dimples are in fact mold codes used for QC purposes.

  10. Top Flite Gamers were an MGS test subject.  Take a look at those mostly positive reviews.

They go on sale for two dozen at $35.  You do have to get rid of the goofy looking box as soon as possible, and now that it's summer you'll have none of the only issues which the testers had, which was that the balls didn't perform well when it was cold.  Great price performance equation on this one.
