Hi bud. Grabbed us a 10:20 at DeBell. Let me know if this works! I can also look for an earlier time at Alhambra! Don't think I can make it out to Rustic on that day is the issue.

Love it - that's perfect! Did you just grab 2? I may have a buddy (possibly a second) who could potentially join.  I'll have them book separately if you only booked 2.  Let me know?

Hi bud. The LA tee time website messed up and I could only get us a 12:50 at Hansen Dam for 4.

I'm going to try to get us a 2 some earlier at Hansen, but also looking at WIlson/Harding. We could always waitlist and try to get on. Or if you were willing to do Alhambra, we could do that.

    Will also look at Balboa.

I hate the LA Muni Booking System....

Yeah, the MBS is mostly BS (boom) - I've never had much luck going that route.  We could in theory make 12:50 work, but I'd have to clear it with my wife to ensure she could cover pick-up and early dinner, assuming we're looking at a close-to-5-hour round (that's always my assumption for scheduling).  I try not to do that, as Friday's are our pizza-and-movie night, and I think I like it more than the kids do 😉

Rustic has some availability at 10-ish, but it's $84 for 18 (and $20 extra for cart, but I usually walk), which is more than I'd LOVE to pay, but it's a Friday and it's a hell of a course.  Looks like we could also do DeBell ($50-ish and includes cart) - they've got 10:10/20/30/40 available for four right now.

I've played (and loved) Alhambra, and am completely unfamiliar with Wilson/Harding, so any of those also work.

Essentially: I'm down for whatever works best 🙂

Also wondering what the "Buy: $2M" means. Only $2M for the drivers and irons but $14M for the balls?

I believe it's a reference to how much their internal spending is on the item. A $2m buy, at their cost (probably close to $250), gets them 8,000 sets (assuming the markup is industry standard 100%). That would be the first run, and they'll see how well they sell, and then decide what the next run would be.

The Bridgestone's and Maxflis will be the 1st ones I zone in on , currently gaming the Bridgestones , was on RXS now testing between the Bx and BXS for the extra spin. I know the testing lab testing has shown trouble with Bridgestones just like the TM TPX and TP5X and the Calloway's but on the course I have not seen it but I have with the other 2, mostly spin differences on simulator with TM but who knows where its going with Chromesofts when I played them.I know my particular spin, trajectory, etc. may determine that but right now Bridgestones are consistent. Old ProV1X didnt work as well as RXS or BXS , may try again based on 2023 test along with hoping Maxfli testing shows promise to fit my game.

I've been playing the new MaxFli Tour X and really, really like them - I definitely prefer the feel of the regular Tour, but the X have the spin that I need, and they're not THAT much harder than the Tour that I find it troublesome.  I've been very impressed so far with them.

I thought that the Bridgestones were tested with the old ball in 2021 test

I'm pretty sure the new Bridgestones were introduced earlier this year, so those would be different from the 2021 test.  Titleist's, Snell's, Chromesoft's, Bridgestone's, Kirkland (I know, I know) - these all have new iterations from the last time the test was done in 2021.  I believe the Taylormade and Vice balls are the same generation that was tested in 2021, but we'll know more soon - testing is done and results are being tabulated while I type this 🙂

Oh man. Doubles still killing me. And not to mention the FOUR strokes it took me to learn the lesson of not trying to hit 9-iron out of a trap with a big old lip. Sigh.

On the plus side, I bought a new camera recently to try and up my photo game. Here's a few from today featuring my buddy Korey 😄 (thanks for being such a great model, buddy!)

I had to jump into this thread because of a unique golfing experience I had a couple of years ago. While playing one of the par four holes at our local golf course, I hit a long fade into the wooded brush along the right side of the hole. My golf partner looked all over for my ball and just simply could not find it where it had entered the woods. At long last I heard her yell "I found it and you won't believe where it landed!" Low and behold, I looked into the brush and saw what she was talking about. My ball had landed directly into a Robin's nest! I guess you could day I got a hole-in-one and a 'birdie' at the same time!

    I love it!

Question: Did you climb the tree to hit it out, or just shake the tree violently until it fell out?  (kidding, obviously 🙂

My message to RR customer service:

    Body:

Hello, I have a subscription for "The Cape" glove and have a question about the glove itself. My last few rounds have been very humid and the material has been saturated with a lot of sweat. This seems to have made the glove stiff and I've lost that softness. Is there a way to soften the glove? Can I wash it? How do I remove the salty sweat that has accumulated? Thanks

    Hi Jason,

Generally we wouldn’t recommend washing leather gloves although we have heard from a few customers who have done this successfully. I would recommend rotating 2-3 gloves during really hot/humid days and hang them to dry before storing flat.

    Glenn

Sounds like once the glove gets crusty there's not much you can do about it and it's tough luck...

Not blaming RR at all; every glove is like this. Just didn't know if they had any recommendations or tricks/tips/hints.

I've been playing with two of the Sussex gloves (previously had the Cape and after regular use of 6 months or so, it also got pretty crusty - pretty much par for the course in my experience of playing out here in SoCal heat, but it usually took less time, for what it's worth), and a Costco glove, and alternating every three holes - this has kept all three in pretty incredible shape, all things considered.

I've washed their (RR's) Range Rooster and had pretty good success there, but I'd be at least a little nervous about throwing it in the wash.  That said, if you WERE to do it, I'd put it in a mesh bag (usually used for delicates), as that way the velcro doesn't stick to anything in the washer, and then lay flat to dry.  I mean, if it's crusty, it's not going to get worse, really, as I can't play my gloves when they get like that, so it might totally be worth a shot.

However, if you DO wash it, please come back and let us know if it worked for you - or not 🙂  Not making you be the guinea-pig, but...;)

My final review has been posted. You can read all about it here:

I want to again say THANK YOU to those at MyGolfSpy that are involved in the testing opportunities for the forum members, this has been so much fun! Also, a HUGE shoutout to Sam Hahn and everyone at L.A.B. for making this fine piece of equipment! I will continue to update this thread after each round as well as keep everyone posted on other tests whenever I get some free time to run them.

Absolutely crushed it. Anyone reading this, do yourselves a favor and go read this enlightening, entertaining review - AWESOME work! (And very glad it delivered for you!)

  11. Hey! Any chance we can push to 8/18? I've got a commitment in Carlsbad that was supposed to happen tomorrow but got pushed to 8/11.

Let me know? Would absolutely love to get this on the books!

Had a solid day yesterday and continued a decent putting run.  32 Putts with 88 ft of putts made (including Par from 17', Par from 7', Par from 9', Par from 7', Par from 9', Par from 22', and Birdie from 7'.)  For those of you counting that means I made the other 11 putts in 10 total feet.  Had 3 birdie and 2 par putts lip out.  Including one from 35' that hit center cup with just a bit too much pace. (Popped straight up and settled on the back lip).

What's incredible (truly, to me) about this is that 32 putts is going to be a "high" number of putts as you get more and more comfortable with this thing.  I can't help but feel like this thing is a gateway to lower scores - now that I'm not afraid of my putting stroke, I was able to focus more on green-reading.  Once I got more comfortable there, I was able to spend a lot more time focusing on my overall short game - pitching in particular.  I've been leaving myself with SO many putts inside 10' (from, let's say, 50 yards and in) that I've been making a TON of 1-putt greens (sadly, usually for par, but...that's gonna get worked on soon 😉 ).  Now that I feel confident in my pitching, it's time to start working from 50-150 yards, etc.

I know I'll have 'bad' rounds where nothing drops and I effectively two-putt everything, but ... the days of 40+ putts are so far removed from my memory it's incredible.

    It's almost like L.A.B. know what they're doing 😉
