Golf Vest Recommendations

Wondering what spies use for colder weather golf vests when you want to keep your arms free. I have always worn long sleeves and/or jackets, but looking to make a switch and it seems a little tougher than I thought it would be to find the right weight/warmth/material/price combo.

I have two: one is a non insulated FJ vest - no warmth but more of a windbreaker type. The other is a bit heavier but not by much (lightly insulated), felt inside, that i use for cooler days. like today - low 50's and very breezy.. I don't wear heavy vests and prefer to layer, that way I can take a layer off when needed. The latter was a relatively inexpensive one bought at a clothing store.

It gets cold here in the winter; typically 20's and 30's but can get below zero on occasion.  I will play as long as the course is open and the wind doesn't blow when it's that cold.

I do not like to wear jackets when I play, but I do wear layers.  I am not much into the synthetic materials; I like cotton shirts.  I will wear a thermal under layer, golf shirt, pullover windbreaker with a vest on the outside.  That's usually good enough.

If I'm walking, I may shed a layer as I usually get pretty warm.  I use chemical heat packs in the mitt on my pushcart; if I can keep my hands warm, I'm good to go.  If I'm riding in a cart, we use a throw over cover made for the rental cart that's great especially when the sun is out.  I don't use a heater.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

My wife picked one up for me at Marshalls about a week ago for $20 and it is great.  Problem with Marshall's is you have to go there to find stuff since it is hit or miss.  Mine is all black but I found it at PGA Superstore.  I am showing the grey since it shows more detail.

Most of the time in the winter (ours are normally mild) I wear whatever pants I like - then depending on the temp and wind I'll layer. Most fall/winter days I wear a upper base of a pullover long sleeve cotton mock neck, then a light pull-over qtr. zip jacket thing. If the weather is in the 40's I'll wear a base thermal layer lower & upper and then finish the upper out as previously mentioned. If anything more is required I probably won't play. And all this also assumes conditions are dry. I don't play in rain or drizzle anytime if I can avoid it.
