Popular Post pozzit
So I have a 3D printer and have been thinking about ideas of what i can do with it and as i was thinking about winter putting practice was curious what my carpet speed was. So about an hour of CAD later and 6'ish hours of printing and I got myself a mini stimpmeter. I did the math to scale down the ramp so that it equates to a relatively accurate measurement. I originally designed a 9" ramp which made ever 3" = 1 "Stimp" point. (marking on print is wrong). This made me ecstatic so I kept messing with it and did a bunch of different locations around the carpet to get an average and the carpet in that room is around a 9. Since 9" was a touch large I simplified it to 6" so every 2"=1 Stimp and have posted the file on thingiverse if anyone wants to print it and have fun go for it. This was such a fun project and i want to do more things like this. Maybe a Loft/lie measurements or alignment tools, if you have idea I love tinkering with this stuff. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3839217 I'm welcome to share any math if anyone cares and if you really want one but don't have a printer shoot me a message. MDGolfHacker
Very cool! I'll have to pull it down from thingverse. I picked up a 3D Printer for my daughter last year to encourage her to use science and imagination to create fun or functional items. So far, she's printed the default chinese cat and a few mickey mouse decorations she's put up in her room, LOL. pozzit
Put a hole in the base and put a tee through it to hold it in place. One on each side. Also, the width of the cup is not the ideal size for a gate because the center of the ball on the inside edge of the cup could fall in at the right speed. A gate that is about an inch wider is actually closer to makeable putts. On the one I made, I added two hanging pins to designate the actual size of a cup. A pass through the gate without hitting the pins was center cup. If it hit the pins, but missed the side = edge but made if didn't go too far past the hole. And, anything that grazes the gate edges was totally missed.Yea I do need to make a few updates. I made these the same size as normal Gates you can purchase online. Usually intended for a smaller aiming area to produce better alignment and usually in line with the hole. I need to post a few more of my designs on here for people. I've made a display for loose iron heads, ferrules, clips for FLO laser, R-Motion clips, and alignment phone holder for recording your swing, to name a few. Blueberry_Squishie
I laser cut an acrylic plate with a location for a ball and small holes where you put marbles to act like gates to see if your putts are starting on line. You supply your own marbles and the difficulty tolerance of the starting line can be changed by moving the marbles. Hardly a new concept but still useful. If people want it, I can send the .ai file or I should be able to convert it to another vector file type if people want it. PM me if you would like it.
