8 iron seemed to show more wear than I would like with the fareway bunker test.
Looked larger than the G410 but could be just impression from camera angle.

Yea, I'm thinking that's not camera angle but rather the prevailing issue with black chrome, PVD, etc. coatings.  They simply show wear quickly.  For those who suffer squeakycleancub-itis like me, that's a non starter.  I must admit though that the dark color is dang good looking right out of the box.

I love the “black look” but not sure how I’d like them after 6 months.
According to SWMBO I can be a bit anal. Like I clean my cart after every time I play.

And I clean my clubs after every round or practice session.  Dirt = drag.  Drag = reduced CHS (something I can ill afford to give up)

Clean the clubs, shoes & towels is automatic.

What was interesting to me is this guy went +1 over like 6 holes with them.  I still say I can play the par 5s with a 7 iron and a putter better than with all clubs in the bag.

Agree with you. After my shoulder surgery I eased back into golf never hitting anything over a 6 iron. I played well and was happy with bogey golf and I parred more than my share of holes.
Actually played better then than I am now.

Actually PING doesn't do "marketing" like most.  They let the tech tell the story and do all the marketing they need.  

Think about it and tell me if you can recall an in your face marketing campaign by them.

Well, perhaps not like the SK7 putter, SquareStrike chipper, or G7 driver but like all the other major OEM's, they have eye and ear catching ads.  I get what you're saying though - amongst their peer group they are way less glitz and lots more data driven.

Watching a number of the older guys here in Yuma, who hit short but straight and almost always on the short, green, fluffy stuff, the thought of pulling nothing but my 5i and up has come to mind more than once.

We're celebrating 25 years living together this summer, so I'm pretty sure I've seen everything there is to see in that regard.

They are really, really a great looking club. The LH Demo 7 i still in plastic and the RH has been Demoed quite a bit. The RH was not as scuffed as I thought it might.
I’m going to Demo it next week and take it out for a 9 holer.
Did I mention their really nice

I tired the 5 and 7 iron when I was at MGS on Tuesday. It is a nice looking club and I think the black makes it look smaller. Felt good on impact.
