27 holes of Championship golf.....Big Canoe Resort, GA

Has anybody ever been or played at this group of three 9 hole courses about an hour northeast of ATL?

 

Here is what I know:

 

Big Canoe is a private retreat of pristine woods and lakes, crowned by seven of Georgia's largest mountain peaks. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Big Canoe offers a place of mists and silences, of waterfalls and trout-filled lakes, of crystal ir and abundant wildlife. Big Canoe is the Atlanta area's premier mountain community, and is located about 1 hour north of Atlanta. Alpharetta, and the booming office market around North Point Mall, are only about 40 minutes south, and the new Premium Outlets Mall in Dawsonville is only about 20 minutes away. The Big Canoe development was chosen as the site for the 1997 Southern Living Idea House. The Big Canoe community has three lakes, 27 holes of championship golf, and hiking trails in a 6,400 acre setting with ridges exceeding 3,000 feet in elevation.

 

I'm going there with one of my golf buddies and our wives for a week in September.

 

We are also going to the NASCAR race in ATL

Well, tomorrow's the day we head north to Big Canoe........guess we'll be the only ones there as nobody commented about it.

 

I did find out that a couple friends were there about 5 or 6 yrs ago.....they said that one par 3 had such a drop off drom tee to green that there is a target mounted in a tree so you know what direction to hit.....the green is about 100 feet below.

 

 

Should be interesting.

A client of mine went there last year and said it was excellent! Sounded pretty high end from what he was saying.

Played there a while back but don't remember a ton about it other than it was pretty nice. Much better courses up that way though, and cheaper(or they were).

Back at work.....was great last week...my TMobile cell didn't work in the mtns and the villa had no internet...had to go to the clubhouse for WiFi.

 

Rained first three days so no golf....But, Wed thru Friday was Terrific!

 

Wed...18 holes

Thurs..27 holes

Friday..36 holes.

 

The elevation changes were off the chart!...ride in golf cart was better than Busch Gardens!

 

Shot a 94, 93, 91 & 91

 

Since there were 27 holes, you had three different configurations to play and we got them all.

 

Cost was $64/round, with $11 9 hole reply & $18 18 hole replay.

 

Course conditions were excellent!...fairways were plush, greens fast, and wildlife was abundant.

Got rained out for the NASCAR race in ATL Speedway, but we did get to sit in the seats on the first turn.....would have been awesome.
