Herts JoaTMoN
Honestly... When I'm bored and fancy trying something different. But I always buy used so its new to me, not new new. I do A vs B testing and then send the loser back out into the wild. I am however a bit of a hoarder of shafts. BNewton51 1 Quote Currently deciding what shaft to use in blank cells... Link to comment
ballplayer002003
I tend to swap out my equipment when I start to lose confidence in the equipment...because it is NEVER my fault, it's ALWAYS the clubs!!!! I tend to keep irons for about three years on avg while drivers I will keep much longer. It's hard for me to find a driver I like and when I do, it will stay for about 4-5 years. Don't get me wrong, I will test out drivers and hit them but they don't change too much in the performance department for me to justify spending so much on them more frequently. Wedges last me about two years only due to wear and fairway woods will last about 4 years as well. Putters, now putters I can change out yearly, sometimes monthly. Just need a new look sometimes. Cbfodalo
I recently started playing in a regular basis after an 8-10year hiatus. In the past year I have been seriously tinkering with my bag. I have committed my current bag setup till at least end of this 2021. I started playing again in jun 2020. Here is bag evolution.. Driver. I also added some fairway woods this year that I absolutely love to hit. They really fill some gaps for.me. Mavrik sz 3w Great off tee for doglegs or windy conditions. I can get 250yds but really try to turn this one. I do also hit it off Fairway when really far out from poor drive. Mavrik sz 5w Off tee on 200 yard par 3' s or shorter dogleg. Defintely on long approaches, around 200. Mavrik 7w Haven't gamed this one yet, but plan is to swing easy with 5i up to around 190, 7w to fill gap between 190-210. I was never a fairway wood guy, always played 3i then 4i to 220, but inhave learned that I am more consisten with a smoother less aggressive swing, so my plan is to eas back a little on irons and use fairway woods, to get the distance when needed. edingc
I'm guilty of swapping a lot since I joined MGS, but that has more to do with getting better overall and also becoming more knowledgeable about clubs and my swing through lessons and multiple fittings. When I first got back into golf seriously in summer 2018, I had a set of 15-year-old Nike irons and an older Cobra driver. That winter (right around the time I joined here), I upgraded everything with stuff from eBay, but purchased some ill-fitting stuff not knowing how I swung the club. As I've spent more time focused on my game, my swing has improved a lot both in technique and speed. The improvement in technique (getting shallower AoA with longer clubs) led to my latest changes to my driver, and my aching elbows/wrists led to going to graphite in my irons this off-season. Obviously, there were a few "non-essential" purchases in there along the way. My birthday is right around the holidays so I always get a little bump in spending cash at once and that is dangerous when looking at golf equipment. Additionally, my cost to actually play/practice golf is quite low since my course membership is very generous. I get discounted range balls and lessons at my practice facility through my employer as well. I'm happy with my current bag (that doesn't mean it's set in stone), but for now I'm more focused on finding some well-fitting golf attire and a good pair of golf shoes as I've been disappointed in mine. tchat07
I'm still working on building a fitted bag so it's going slower then I want it too. My goal is to seal up the top end of my bag this year so there is a sizable purchase coming in the near future haha.Sent from my SM-G950U using MyGolfSpy mobile app Vegan_Golfer_PNW 1 Quote Link to comment
